Don't be fooled - this is a tough ride. The terrain is super rugged. We just rode a chunk from Petersfield to Shoreham and the relentless up and down takes a toll. Climbing 10-15 percent pitches in the 30 degree heat is special. So is being blinded by the glare of the white rock : ) We did it on gravel bikes and flew - but it would be a lot more kind to your body on a dual suspension. Plenty of good services on this sector including taps with cold fresh water. Good luck if it rains lol. It is a beautiful ride - can't wait to do more of it soon.

Just back from the GB divide, you certainly did make the right decision to wait a while, do you remember those really bad winds? I was up the Brecon Beacon freezing my butt off in those. Ok, moaning over, you really have treat in store, the biggest take away for me was the realisation of how beautiful the UK is. The scenery is stunning from some of the places that this route takes you. My advice would be take your time and enjoy it. I took 19 days but stayed in B&Bs, 25 days would have been better. Those technical skills you were practicing on your mountain bike will really come in useful, some places I thought it would be better to have a horse. I am obviously a roadie, a bit older than you, I had a 31 front 42 back and I needed more, the accumulation of short sharp kickers did start to get to me. Anyway all the best and good luck.

Fair play to anyone who takes this on in one day! It's easy to underestimate the SDW as we don't have big stuff to ride down South, so it makes up for it by taking you over absolutely everything. Disheartening to get to the top of a big climb, only to see a thin white chalkline snaking over the next big hill a couple of miles away. You just know that's going to be you in the next 20 mins! Finally got round to doing it in Aug 20 on a fully rigid MTB, wild camped it. Didnt do any of the iconic climbs with the weight of the laden down bike.

The cambium doesn’t break in like the b17 saddles do. However just because I didn’t find it comfortable doesn’t mean somebody else won’t. I just don’t think the weight is worth it even if it was comfortable you could probably find a saddle that was just as comfortable for half the weight in my opinion.

Where to start? Firstly, you should have way more than 122 subs. This is the only one of your vids I've watched but it was excellent. Some good footage here. As for the vid length, I'd suggest breaking it up in to a few 20 min videos. I got through it but YT viewers are notorious for their attention span, or rather lack of, & the algorithm is biased towards 15 to 20 min vids. This got my attention because I have recently purchased some bikepacking packs & both the Icknield Way & the Ridgeway are on my 'to do' list. I actually loved watching this. Did you make it to Hunstanton? I thought you were gonna go through Norfolk. I live near the Swaffham section of the Peddars Way & plan on bikepacking it very soon. All in all, great job👍 Oh yeah, my missus is called Hayley also.
