Hello! Welcome to my page. This is a page showing the renovation and repair of old audio devices. I do renovations primarily as a hobby, I started making the videos mainly for my own entertainment, but I am happy to share them with others, in case it helps during a similar repair.

Thanks, helped me with the clean up of my unit!! Great job.
Beautiful Deck!
Szia!
Szia. Javítás szempontjából a számozásnak semmi jelentősége. Illetve ellenőrizd a rugók meglétét is.
Gracias
Hi. I think you mean the R207 resistor. You can see this part of the service manual in the video, where you can see that the resistor is 100 ohms.
@retrodeck1956 muchas gracias. Ahora funciona excelente. Muchas gracias por tu video y tiempo.

Hello! This may be a long shot but I have an Akai MG614 Four Track Cassette I am working on. It's almost fully working again, as far as I am aware it uses a very similar transport to a GX52. If you've got any tips on these last things I'm trying to sort out. -A door mechanism that only stays open for about 5 seconds before it closes automatically -And track 1 drops out occasionally, either when trying to record or when trying to play back, then it just starts working again and sounds fine. Signal will still hit the meters however in record, but nothing goes to tape. I can't hear any relays clicking when it stops and starts again. It's like the whole track 1 tape circuit looses power. Intermittent problem so hard to catch. Much appreciated!
Hi. Unfortunately I am not familiar with this device. I tried to find a service manual online, but I couldn't find one to download. So I don't see why the cassette door is closing. The other problem could be a possible contact error. Unfortunately I can't help you with that.
Hello. Congratulations on your work! Can I ask how you removed the cassette door? I would need to remove it in my deck, but in these Akai I can't figure out how to do it to access the azimuth and trim of the motor. Thank you very much.
@@francescoscarpa6124 Hi. You pull the bottom of the door outwards and it can be removed.
É perfeito demais um sonho me dê papai 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Among other cassette decks, JVC and other brands, I have a KD-A3, still new-in-box. Most of the JVC decks had Sendust Alloy heads, which is critical. But for any brand, if it doesn't have a Sendust Alloy head, forget it. Everything else sounds like mud in comparison.

Hi. It only works when you switch to recording mode.
Hi- Nice work there! Never thought I’d come across one but someone just sold me his GX-32 for cheap telling me it had a head issue. Later I found the head bridge occasionally not raising when I pressed PLAY, when it would just get into half raise position like in search mode. I checked the mechanical side and the solenoid pull switch worked. I’m gonna check again to see it consistent power gets to the solenoid every time it gets activated. Do you have any idea? Thank you!
Hi. If the magnetic switch works, then there may be a mechanical fault. The head unit is driven by the motor using a gear play disk. It is likely that the previous owner repaired it and assembled it incorrectly. Maybe one of the springs is not in the right place, or a part has broken. Try to check these, the service manual is very helpful, you can also see the mechanical units in it.
My dad had the same deck and passed it down to me in the late 90's.
Ok👍🇮🇩💯✍️
era una bomba
Does it have built-in speakers or are those external ones?
@@mayonnaise_ There are no speakers built into these. It's through an amplifier.
I have ap D33 but thinking about getting that one. So beautiful !
Hard to understand this video since the creator isn't speaking. What is the defect, and what is the trouble shooting procedure, and what is being repaired?? I have no clue.
If someday you sell it, i will buy. I use it when I was teen 😊

nice deck! This deck have 2 or 3 heads ?

When we press play button head and pinch roller not going up
Hi, here I am again asking you for advice, I followed your video carefully and I did everything exactly. Now I have a problem with the rewind, forward and play buttons, they don't lock anymore. That is, when you press them they don't lock. What could it be? Thanks, Orlando.
Hi. This will be difficult for me to say. I also had this error, but it is usually due to incorrect installation. Well, look at the stop button. Also, the part of the mechanics where the stop button operates the metal parts. Maybe a spring is out of place or the metal part is stuck. A little cleaning and grease. It is also possible that if this part was taken apart, something was wrongly rebuilt. Also, look at the moving part of the pause button. It can also be caused by the fact that the buttons do not remain pressed.
Thank you infinitely, can you tell me where the mechanical part is located where the shot takes place to keep the play, rew, f.fwd/cue stuck? Thank you very much?
hello really compliments for the video. I have the same plate as you, in your video, at minute 5:10 I can't remove the screw, what can I do? Thanks, Orlando.
Hi. This screw is in a metal nut. Carefully try to heat the head of the screw with a soldering iron. There is plastic around it, you have to be careful not to melt it. Put a screw-loosening spray on it both before and during it. I hope it works.
it is also amplifier?
Love the repairs, no one seems to take these on anymore! I've got one of these that's not powering up at all, I don't want to chuck it! Can anyone recommend a repairer in the UK?
@@fantasticbeans95 Hi. Unfortunately, I can't help you fix it. But if you think you're trying to fix it, I'll be happy to help if I can.

Just picked up an Aiwa ad-6300 and the ffw and rewind work, but play doesn't. The drive wheel is stationary. You can hear the motor. I believe it's something to do with a captan requiring a sleeve putting over it to drive the mechanism. Looks a pig to get to though!
You can see the main fixes in this video. The playback does not work, the belt may be a problem. Or some idler.
Hello. I recently bought an akai vs-1eg. The machine works, but when you insert the cassette and press play, it tries to read the tape, but it cannot read it and the machine cuts off the power. I wonder what is the problem with this? I can't find the user manual either.
Hello. The VCR is a complicated structure. It's hard to say what the problem might be. Watch the videos to see if you can find something that will help you fix it. For example, the tape feed gears are not in the right position. Or the strip indicator light is not working. Worn idler. And I could go on and on.
If the tape unloads after reset and it is still possible to eject I think it pretty much is the loading belt. The VS-1 is mechanically the same as the VS-2, only the cassette lift differs. The VS-1 is a front loader. The VS-5 also looks the same inside, it has an additional warning buzzer if something does not work and if loading the tape around the drum does not work it gives a 'breakdown' message in the display.
Muita treta! 😮
This is such a great machine. Had one back in the 80's and never should have parted with it. Not even later more expensive machines with Dolby S could compete. Don't make the same mistake as I did. Hang on to this baby.
Dude, are you pay UA-cam per time? Can't read so fast...
Too bad the annoying and distracting background music started suddenly, nice video for the remainder.
My dad has this tape deck and the recordings sounded amazing...He passed it onto me in the late 90s. My bedsit was unfortunately broke into and it went along with a few other of my things and i never saw it again! 😔
Replaced all belts but rewind is very sluggish at best,i believe I'll try to locate a large tire for the rew.hub. Also the auto stop doesn't nor has it ever worked. Any idea on that would be appreciated at your leisure. Thanks Randy
Hi. You can see the drive in this video, you can only solve it by repairing the idlers and belts. However, the automatic shutdown can be due to many things. Check the plunger. This disconnects the mechanism. Check the voltages on the power supply board. The plunger works with 32 volts. On this panel you will find several diodes, check them as well. Here you will find a fuse resistor marked FR1. Replace this, it is most likely the fault.
@@retrodeck1956 Thank you kind sir for replying so quickly. My dumbass put the wrong rew/ff belt on as in putting the old one back on,I got them mixed up with a Pioneer ct-f1000's belt kit I'm working on that just happened to be too close. Anyway enough of my brain degenerative moments. I had no clue Fr1 was a fuse,so after I just read your post I checked it and got 90ohms darn the luck. The solenoid and plunger function well when temporarily as in split second shorting the ground terminal to the solenoid body or chassis gnd. D8 ,c13,c22 tr7 and 4 test good out of circuit. Thinking about looking at tr8 and tr6 tomorrow, as for now old butt is about to hit the bed after working on lawnmower then mowing and it is after midnight in my sleepy little town. Again thanks so much for taking the time to respond to your viewers! Kind Regards Randy Brown
@@RandyWBrown If the transistors are fine and the voltages are good, then only the solenoid switch can be checked. If I looked correctly, the signal is sw902. I hope the device was repaired. I have also been mowing the lawn for two days. But now it will be rest. Good luck to you. T Zoli
@@retrodeck1956 Hi Mr.Zoli and hope you're resting well on this fine Sunday afternoon. One quick question and I'll stop bothering you, I'm getting correct voltage everywhere on the ps board which as you mentioned earlier to check along with the reed switch. I get 34v on the collector of tr8 that goes directly to the reed switch when unit is not playing, just on. When play or ff/rew is pressed and counter is rotating, the voltage is all over the place from 0 to 32v and everywhere in between for milli seconds, shouldn't that be a stable voltage and if so I guess a new reed switch is in order. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your day. Kind Regards Randy
Thanks a lot for the video. Would you mind explain what lamps did you put to replace the old ones and where to find those lamps (LEDs? charactristics?) please? Many thanks.
@@yannicklepaleo Hi! Car dashboard light, if I remember correctly, I used a 24 volt one. Its performance should be as small as possible.
@@josemanuel-ux2xn Hello. Unfortunately, these parts are no longer available. That's why I make most of these idlers rubber wheels from high quality water fitting sealing rubber. It is very cheap and can be purchased at any hardware store.
I HAVE THIS ONE! Working good and sounds perfect
Akai GX-730D is one deck that is extremely difficult to repair compared with Pioneer and Sony made in the same years. But its well worth it for the sound. In good working condition it actually sounds like the GX-747 open reel deck
I don't understand what you mean, but look at the head in this device.
Yes. It doesn't play back there. can only play normally. However, the heads are 2x2 channels. Thus, even when playing in one direction, it plays and records sides a and b simultaneously in accelerated mode.
