Highlights from Saturday at the Southport Air Show 2024.
The Air Show is one of the biggest annual events in Southport, Merseyside.
Last years show was a bit of a disaster, but things were much improved this year, with some superb flying displays.
Despite the less than ideal conditions for flying, and filming, I hope the video manages to capture the skill and daring of the participants, indeed, you may want to adjust the volume for the Jett Pitts and Typhoon displays.
Understandably, the BBMF did not attend the show following the decision to pause all displays after the fatal accident earlier this year involving one of their Spitfires.
The following aircraft are featured in the video:-
Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina, Westland Wasp HAS1 XT420, Fairey Swordfish MK I G-BMGC 'W5856', The Black Cats pairs display, Strikemaster Mk82A G-SOAF, The Starlings Aerobatic Team Extra 330 and CAP 232, Grob Tutor, Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers, Rich Goodwin Jett Pitts S2S, Vickers Supermarine Spitfire PRXIX PS853 G-RRGN, North American P-51-D Mustang, Bristol Blenheim MKI G-BPIV, de Havilland Vampire T11 WZ507, Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4, and The Red Arrows.

how does the head move ? i get the rest is on strings... something aint making sense.. and that said, this looks like they have had the same exact "giant puppet" for at least 10 years.. how the thing that looks wooden go in the water every year or couple years and not in any way get ruined

Very good display of cars. The Volkswagon Karman Ghia was so nice. Stunning in fact. I had a school friend in the late 1960s , and his Aunt owned one. I like them.
Glad you liked my Ghia. I only completed the car in March this year so the response and kind comments were hugely appreciated. The win was a total surprise though given the level of entries.
I went to this, and even had a car entered, I found it very poor with over officious Marshalls, won't be going again.......

Over 100 years old, starting off as a military pipes and drums. They are now an association pipes and drums.
