1997 Land Cruiser new valvecover gasket
I installed a new valve cover gasket and spark plugs in my new to me 1997 Land Cruiser. In the background you see my 1994 Land Cruiser. Moral of the story; change your spark plugs every once in a while.

Headed to Sandpoint Idaho property

Headed to Sandpoint Idaho to meet with my road and property clearing guy, Kevin Clyde. I actually was able to catch a break in the weather when I was at the property. Work should start soon, depending on the weather. I'm on the schedule for next year for my well to be drilled. The road should be about 200 feet long with an approximate 200X200 clearing for the home and shop site. I'm going to st...

I have Toyota land cruiser 1994 and turns off when steering right any ideas
Can you reuse the gasket on these diff?
Yes, if it’s the factory gasket and still in good shape, it’s a medal clad gasket, so you can reuse them. But be prepared to either get a new one or have some silicone on hand. Good luck with yours!
I dread the day for my 9N. I have one bald rear tire and who knows the last time these have been off! Great Video!
Thanks! 👍
Where did you get the brake shoes? I have a 2ton chevy,i been looking everywhere for brakes without luck
Got them from a local AC Delco auto parts store and the brand and part number was “Buy BS144”. The parts store went out of business this year, but maybe the part number can help you. There was a $25 core on the shoes, so they’re out there somewhere…..
Dana 70 or 80?
Actually neither. It’s an American Axle and it’s either an 11.5” or a 10.5”
I tried to tune my 5BTV today with no luck. Its not even within the bands for 10,15 and 20 meters. According to the VNA its too long. I tried calling the company but they were closed when I called them. Its really frustrating.
That sucks! Mine tuned just fine and still performs great. Keep me up to date on what your final results are, please.
Interested to know what you did with it. Did you figure it out or had to return it? I was thinking of getting one!
Uhhh… could I have those spin balanced Please?? 🤣
Nice thx I’m doing rn for my dc5
at 6:34 you're trying to put that o-ring or seal or whatever it is on the release valve, I've got one of those in my kit too, did you ever find a use for it? I put one o-ring at the bottom of the main cylinder but the one you're holding looks like it goes with a different model or something?
I did not 😢
I can smell it! 😮
Dear Sir- thanks for this video. Quick question: have you started selling your radial adapter plate? I’d be VERY interested. After 2 years, are you having good results? Any problems? Thanks, KQ4IXD
Thank you so much! I don’t have plans to make and sell the radial plates. Sorry. I have had no issues with the antenna or radials. I really am impressed with the performance of the antenna.
Great thanks, and the hole diameter?
I’m not sure, but maybe 4” to 6”.
Great Job, I am getting the 6 BTV next month and I am wondering how to prepare the hole? How deep and what circumference diameter to fill with cement and what type of mast in length and diameter to fix in the ground and size to remain out for holding the 6BTV? Can you help please?
What I used was just a standard 6 foot chain link fence post. I dug the hole with a post hole digger 2feet deep. I drove the post into the ground 2 feet, then fill the hole with cement (about 1 forty pound bag). This left about 2 feet of the post exposed out of the ground and boy is it sturdy! I was going to add a ground rod, but with the post in the dirt 2 feet and in 2 feet of concrete on top of that, I don’t think I need it.
I think i would have made like 3 of them...that way if the knuckle breaks or whatever i dont have to wait for another one to be made
Great runner, i want to buy a 4 door sedan monterey that i found on facebook, not as cool as your 2 door hardtop, but still a great car
whtas the power on 220 mhz??

Ha! Well, I’ve moved on to a Diamond X50 and I’m happy with it.
On a Cummins recommendation to change how many miles in between?
I believe they recommend 7 to 10k on oil and 5k on fuel filter. I do both around 10k and I’ve switched to Rotella T5
I think I would do some reading up on that engine before starting it dry without oil or grease .. and no coolant .... research first ....
great job 73 from kb2uew
Thanks!

You should have done all that work to a Dana 60
You have to use what the customer wants…..but I agree!
do yall sell this exact kit?
Dan, can you please tell me what part name for the galvanized hanger bracket & where you got it please, thanks. How’s setup working for you so far?
I had to rewatch the video to remember 😮. What used was an aluminum elbow and a piece of scrape aluminum cut from a sheet from my buddies shop. I ended up moving away from that antenna as I switched to a dual band Icom IC-2730a radio and went to a Diamond X50n antenna. The Ed Fong worked great, I just didn’t need the 220 MHz band anymore and I had ordered the wrong coax (N type ends), so I went with the X50. Sorry if I didn’t help. (The X50 works better too)
I am the proud new owner of a '50 Merc, my first flat head! I discovered I have a broken valve and also adjustable lifters. What is the valve removal procedure? Pry the valve spring up to release the "keepers"? Thanks in advance. BTW, love your '53!
Congratulations! There is a tool, but I just made one and yes you kind of pry the spring up so you can get the keepers off
Idk why, but the first half of the sound track made me want to fast forward to all the good parts and the end. I fought some other urges too, but I did make me a sandwich afterwards.😂 Seriously though, good vid and work. Looking into doing this to my K5.
Those tie rods/tie rod ends Look GOOD Sir!!
I had the same problem with my X50 after about 8 months in service. My ID-5100A went deaf. I measured 2m SWR over 4:1. I took it down and opened it up. It was full of water! All the foam rings were soaked and the copper element was corroded. Maybe you should check yours as well. I have no idea how the water got in but since the top of the element was wet, it must have got in under the chrome cap.
Wow! I didn’t even think of that. If I get any more poor signal reports on simplex, I’m definitely checking it out. Thanks!
heat the plug? no. heat metal around plug. expand.
all mine were TITE. that plug would come out with a dewalt impact an straight tip after tappin metal around it. setup a lil vibration.
Love the video. Filming while working on top of the roof deserves extra points!!
Thanks Chris! ❤
Dan...does this make the Bao Feng work better and go farther? :-)
Ha! Actually, if you hook your Feng up to an outside antenna it will receive way better!
Lets Go Brandon
Good stuff Danimal!
Thanks for sharing Dan. Would love to see more videos in 2024.
Ha! Thanks Chris!
As a guy that just had to take a steering arm off and deal with those conical washers I think I speak for all of us when I say screw you for not putting anti seize on any of that stuff. 😂
Ha! Great comment!!!!
On a side note, I'm about to remove the studs from my steering knuckle. Do you happen to know if they are difficult to get out? I sprayed them down with Kroil and am waiting for it to work its magic.
If using a blade, get an “Exacto Knife.” Way more control over a razor blade. Or use teeny tiny micro clippers to “crush” the center. I would keep off either end. (the delicate solder pads.) 💁🏻♀️
The sad end to the story is I ran it over with a forklift about a month later 😢 but I did buy a new one 😊
Since you've had them longer than just about anyone I can find, have you had any issues? I just haven't pulled the trigger on Amazon fuel injectors. I made the mistake of just replacing the seals on mine when the headgasket was done, but now I've got lean codes occasionally and a rough idle when I pull up at a stoplight in gear especially. If I can fix that then I'm ready to go wheeling. Also need to change the injector plugs when I remove the injectors since almost all of them have broken tabs. Just don't want to wait the turn around time for mine to be sent off, and wondering if these are going to last.
Well, they are still going strong! I also changed both O2 sensors and she does run a little rich, but I’d rather have it run rich than lean. Overall, I’d do it again.
What good did the music do in the background, other than mute and muffler your voice.
of course when the video first started i said to myself ....this gonna be a long day
How did you power this if you ended up making it mobile?
I like the music choice. Thank you for sharing- I just bought a 3800 '48 and am getting familiar with the model. Love these trucks- love the stovebolt engines. Wonderful machines. :) Cheers!
to much technology back in the 50s lol oh in the 40s
Ha!
Looks like a difficult job ,How much would this likely cost in a shop. ? I’d imagine 1500 aud
I could only imagine!
What’s the fuel consumption like after doing that job on them. I’m looking at buying an 80 that needs injectors what do you think.
@@PhilipUnderwood-oy9tvThe advertised mpg is poor, like 12 city and 14 Hwy. That’s about what I get, or maybe a little less. Good luck!
Supply the injectors and I’ll swap them over for 500 if you’re in Sydney.!
they aren't really an upgrade. glass ones have the ability to use very fast acting HRC ceramic. these are the exact things you want on sensitive electronics because of their ability to prevent arching after blow. those car fuses don't have that extra security and you may still arc and blow ur equipment even after the fuse blows. this is why you can find really expensive ceramics ($100+) but you cant for the blades
what is your new mpg after changing them?
Maybe 1 mpg better, but it was still worth it since the old injector seals were leaking. I also used a non oem injector so it’s likely running richer than the stock ones.
How does it hold up in wind. Im in Southern California and have to deal with our Santa Ana winds but Im looking to do something like this.
I haven’t had any issues with wind. I believe they recommend support wires(rope) with the 5 over the 4 due to the coil on top, but with the fence post in 4 feet (2 in dirt and 2 in concrete) it ain’t going anywhere! I know the Santa Ana winds can be rough, so you may want to consider a guy wire in the direction (facing) of the wind. Good luck!
@@danedwards7597 thanks. I'm looking at the btv so no cap hat......maybe less wind load
Thanks for posting. You guys are pretty great. I’ll be trying the course tomorrow.
