at 6:34 you're trying to put that o-ring or seal or whatever it is on the release valve, I've got one of those in my kit too, did you ever find a use for it? I put one o-ring at the bottom of the main cylinder but the one you're holding looks like it goes with a different model or something?
The oil level is like a differential. You have to fill it up then let it drain out of the hole when the jack is level. Lazzar’s in CA does a nice job. Hein-Werner May still sell a rebuild kit, but they’re probably all made in China now.
Wifes name and pic. Mark here. I have a 10 ton Hein Werner floor jack. My feeling is Hein Werner forever Horror Freight never! Thanks for the video. Peace
i have two of these, one is a 1 1/2 ton and the other is a low boy 1 1/4, both need rebuilding, can't find a company in san antonio any more that does this.
I guess you never got the threaded cylinder part off? Can't get mine off either. Guess it doesn't matter? Do you know the x-ring seal goes? And what about the depth of the threaded part on the control knob does it matter? Fun times.
Hey t800, I'm by no means an expert but in my limited experience is better to leave the cylinder part on. It is really tight and removing it risks damaging the cylinder (bending/denting it) which will make the u-cup to inner cylinder wall seal fail. Not sure what is the x-ring seal you are referring to, if you could reference the part number that would be great. Also, there is really good info and tutorials on rebuilding these vintage hein-werner jacks at the garage journal forum. Not sure how critical the depth of the threaded part of the "control knob" (I'm assuming you are referring to the release valve assembly, # 19 in the diagram) is but looking at the video it seems like it was originally threaded all the way down. Make sure the release valve (part #27) is all the way up as far as it goes (as short as it can get) so you don't damage the valve when threading the big release nut (release box, part number 22) all the way in. I would also recommend using an anaerobic sealant at the bottom of the reservoir tube (#7) and in the threads. Hopefully that helps, let me know if you have other questions.

I did not 😢
When you do it in fast we can’t see the order of how the springs and bearings go in

when you put heat on something to help get it loose you heat what its in not the bolt or plug, heat makes it swell up so it was making it worse.
I have this exact same jack and I am rebulding it later this year. It finally failed.
Good luck on the rebuild!

Thanks for the comment! They sure don't make them like they used to!
At 8:58, you are about to install a rubber seal. I'm assuming the seal goes in cup down. Is that correct?
Yes. The lip of the seal faces the fluid. Good luck with your project!

Is that Loyds jack?
Yep. I finally got around to editing the video
Don't like the speed up
Loctite 565 hydraulic seal!
Harbor freight jacks for not worth my life
I agree ☝️
The speed up sucks !
heat the plug? no. heat metal around plug. expand.
all mine were TITE. that plug would come out with a dewalt impact an straight tip after tappin metal around it. setup a lil vibration.
