Interesting video! I’ve recently started using the dongle rig with full circle hooks with great success for both bass and smoothound on the Dorset coast, it really is a surprisingly effective method and the fish are almost always hooked in the scissors. As someone else has already replied on here, I always snell my circle hooks as there is a lot of evidence that this provides an angle of leverage that hooks more fish than non-snelled hooks ( let me know if you’d like me to expand on this). I assume that you simply attach your flounder baits to the braid with elasticated thread, is this so? I too am about to try this approach with smaller circles than I usually use for smaller fish such as flatties and your results are encouraging.
These circles have to much gap, need to be tweeked closer in ......less gap so they hook lip and in line circles and circles work better when snelled south african dingle dangle work well ,check their bait presentations.Asfn fishing, penn ....you tube channels.I use circles on lures aswell
Because the flounder are not big enough to take line off the reel in my area and have very delicate bites which are difficult to see under normal surf conditions, so I have to wait until 20-30mins before bring in my line. I have tried barbless hooks in the past with no success. The best hooks for me in my area are barbed circle hooks
you should try the key wall further along from where you were fishing good flats off there mate this time of year.
will do, al give it a go next time.
It looks like a heron or cormorant has had a go at that flattie . Tight lines
I was thinking crab but heron makes more sense.
Looking at the angle it make me think it was shot with a spear gun 🤔
The first flounder looked like someone had speared it

Why not just use barbless hooks if you're gonna put them back i use barbless all the time and hardly ever loose fish
