I can't find the playlist!! This project is on hold waiting for the instructions which were to be included in the pattern I purchased.
Hi there, if you click on the playlist tab on my UA-cam channel homepage you'll find it there. Here is a direct link: ua-cam.com/play/PL0fj-cdTxRewjvFG65idhXCWOe3Ki-rua.html&si=zMWwiktrzjCUNr4M
I can't wait to make one, thanks
Is this prior to adding a knit-on border? I'd love to see how this would be done on the uneven side edge of crochet. Thank you!
Yes, this video is demonstrating how I pick up the stitches along the crochet edge to then start knitting.
Great video🎉! Thanks for sharing your thoughts of making the patterns. And of your little grey cat❤
SO EXCITED to do my very first crochet project. Love how modern the cardigan is. I will for sure join a MAL and have a hope that you are going to attend ( or vend) at Flock FIber Festival in August. My goal is to wear my sweater and can imagine a Jethro Meetup ( a la Rhinebeck meetups on the hill ) I would be thrilled to help you organize and promote this. You’ve started something! I never liked crochet projects and now I am ON FIRE to start this one. Let’s keep in touch - i know of several people who are starting the cardigan and will have done by FLOCK. Congratulations and well done!
I sadly will not be at Flock Fiber Festival but saw lots of Jethro's at last weekend's Knit City Toronto and, let me tell you, it was a THRILL!
What yarn are you using, love the colors!
This is my PureWash DK yarn.
Gosh, now I want to make the Jethro cardigan! I haven't crochet a granny square in years but want to now. Thanks Tanis for your drive and passion for Granny Squares--I love them too. The Knitting Place (Dina and Pam) are selling kits and starting a CAL for this cardigan-in case you didn't know. It's really a unique piece.
Once you start making Granny Squares it's hard to stop!
I’m not ready to dip my toes into the hybrid projects yet, but I appreciated all your tips and the insight into design challenges.
The patterns are there when you're ready for them! 🩷
Hi Tanis, thanks for such a wonderful pattern. I love the Jethro cardigan design. I purchased the pattern. I am done with all the granny square element. The next thing to do is to knit the sleeves and the button band. A KAL would be fun. Let me know if you are holding the knit/crochet along. I am going to make another one for my daughter. She loves rainbow too.
Awesome! Sounds like you're making great progress already! I am currently running a KAL over on Instagram. The details are all in a post from last week!
So glad to see you like knitting and crochet together. I too knit a granny square cardigan that also had knitting AND almost the same "white" turtleneck pullover with granny squares on the chest! Are you sure you aren't spying on me? LOL Presently I am knitting the Prairie Skies pullover (which has granny squares) and will be starting the Link Sweater which uses' both knit and crochet.w
Oooh I hadn't seen Prairie Skies. So pretty!
@@tanisfiberarts1999 I’m really enjoying it. I’m not a crocheter so finding patterns that have both knitting and crochet keep me challenged just enough. Do you plan on creating other patterns using both?
Hello Tanis! I just bought the pattern for the cardigan and am currently musing about my choices regarding yarn and colors, so fun. I would love a knit-and-crochet-along, can you imagine all the different projects and color combinations?! It is going to be a very pleasant riot! 😊🧶 Happy knitting!
A pleasant riot! I love that. 💖
Great design and lovely video. You are quite relatable and your passion for your art shines through. I am a confident crocheter and not so much knitter; but love to do both. Have always wanted to knit a sweater, so perhaps starting with sleeves and a border will be an easier task and better odds for success. Will be purchasing your pattern. A KAL would be fun but I will be starting granny squares regardless. Thank you for sharing your journey with this project. Very creative indeed and your daughter’s sweater surely reveals your love for her!
Thank you so much! Jethro sounds like the perfect project for you to jump into knitting. Happy stitching!
Love these two granny patterns! I associate granny squares with my own Grandma when I was little, may have been the start of my obsession with the yarn world! I may have to play with these and make cardigans foe my own granddaughters, 2 and 9! Happy Easter!
Thank you! Granny Squares are definitely very nostalgic for many of us!
Will you be making the child size pattern for the cardigan? I would love to make that for one of my granddaughters.
The sweater I made for my daughter is the smallest size in the pattern. I don't currently intended to publish a seperate pattern.
Thank you so much Tanis. Just bought Jethro which is exactly what I've been looking for. An ice blue and mink brown palette for this first one. Brilliant pattern!
Oh my gosh it's going to be fabulous! I'm excited to see it!
I have both of these patterns on the go and had the perfect stash pairings for each. I'm so happy to be able to combine my love of crochet with knitting. ❤
That's so great! Nothing better than a stash buster. Happy stitching!
Abfab Tanis! I’m so on board for a make along. Looking forward to where you take this.
Thank you!
I purchased both patterns and now don’t know which to start with! I’m thinking just starting with making squares and see what develops. Thanks
That sounds like the perfect approach! Word to the wise, once you start making squares it will be hard to stop! 😂
❤
Well!!!!! Those patterns are so cool… I will need to PURCHASE 🎉
Glad you like them! Thank you!
Love them
Thank you!
What fun😍 Question… how did you hang those balls of yarn on the wall?
It's a pegboard with little 1.5" hooks. I just poke the yarn cake on the hook and voila! You can find them pretty easily at home building centers or online.
Good morning. I love your new design. I was just wondering about how you joined your granny squares. I thought you said there was a link down below I could not find the link at all. I have joined granny squares before but yours looks seamless.
I have a playlist with the method I use included. I'll edit the caption to include the link. Sorry!
@@tanisfiberarts1999 thank you so much!
I love this Q & A! BUUUT, I still want to know what Chris's first knit was.😁
This was great, thank you! Can't wait to get cracking on my Fleetwood :)
Have fun!
Thanks for this! I haven't crocheted for a very long time so this is very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! That was a great video! I will definitely give it go when I have/take time. 😊-Tami
I'm so glad you found it helpful!
I LOVE this pattern!! Can you tell me where to find it?
It's still a WIP! I'm just trying to get the tutorials up before launch. Stay tuned!
I’m the person with the heavily modified City Limits. I am a big fan of your podcast, and I tagged you in the post on Instagram where you commented that it was cute. When I sat down to watch this podcast episode I was surprised and disappointed to hear how dismissive you were about that project in particular. Modifications I made to the pattern that I did not list in the Instagram post were changing the short rows, adding in my own sleeve decreases, adding a split hem, changing the raglan depth, reknitting the neckline twice and taking off 8.5” of length after wearing it twice. All of these modifications were to get the best fit for my body type - I obviously loved the look of the sweater which is why I knit it in the first place, I was just modifying to make it right for me. Overall, I thought this was a strange take to put into your podcast, and it was a bummer to hear as I sat down to watch with my morning coffee.
I'm so sorry about this. Your sweater is lovely and you made it your own, which is something that I'm always encouraging people to do. Please don't let my thoughtless comment affect the way you feel about it. I didn't realize that you had made additional modifications, but honestly I don't think it matters as the way I mentioned it was insensitive.
Are you doing crochet “elbow patches” on your new sweater?? Fun show, thank you.
No elbow patches.
Tanis provides the color theory; Chris provides the color commentary 😂 Another entertaining and educational video.
Ha! That should be our tagline!!! 😂
Knit City Toronto! I could come to that! Saw TFA in Kitchener (YEARS ago) - it would be fun to see TFA in person again.
The last time I vended in Kitchener was 2012! Time flies.
Super video!-Tami
❤
I love your granny square sweater! Two years ago, I was searching for a pattern just like that-never found one, but maybe you’re going to make my dreams come true, haha!
Wonderful! I'm so happy to hear that. It's always extra motivating to work on a pattern that I know people are eager to see!
Haha ! “Class up a little dirtbag!” 😂😂❤❤ SO true!
Chris certainly has a way with words!
You know sleeves are basically socks right? 😂
True!
Fun video!😊 The lighting issue is cracking me up.😂
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was driving me crazy! 😆
I agree that we gotta wear whatever colors make us feel good. Other people can say whatever they want. It's none of their business 😁
Totally!
I loved the lighting. It’s not like you were trying to show yarn. At one point there were little light snowflakes floating around, then there was a rainbow. Perfect for your chat about colour. Thank you Tanis and Chris. I really enjoy your ‘show’. Christine, Australia. I always check out your shop. One day I will get some Willow. Linen is the way to go in our climate.
Oh thank you!
I love watching your videos. It's so funny because this time we can see the fluff floating around in your video which is just hilarious but I love!! 🖤🖤🖤
It's the crazy lighting! I need to figure it out! 😆
Great Q&A. As always, I appreciate your thoughts on blending/fading colors. Love that the kids are helping you effectively.
Thanks so much!
Oh the scholastic book advent sounds cool! I just checked their site and it is available. I grabbed one for my kiddo.
Oh I hope you love it! My kids really enjoyed it.
Nice to see you both! Great video!
Thank you!
We have chocolate and terrible set of Christmas jokes in our fabic advent, we reuse the same jokes every year 😊
What an awesome tradition!
love the videos, guys! I feel the same way about treats and baking after Halloween. - Kimberly
I just want to make Tiramisu this weekend! 😭 It's not fair!
@@tanisfiberarts1999 I get tempted to throw it out!
❤ love your videos
Thank you so much!
The lighting is a little wonky but Tanis has a rainbow on her left shoulder area. 😄 I’m so sad I missed the advent the second go round. They went crazy fast! And I was ready but not fast enough.☹️ Crossing my fingers for next year! -Tami
The lighting was driving me crazy! That's what happens when the sun sets at 4pm! 😡 Thanks for watching! And yay for bonus rainbows!
Even though I do like surprises, I don’t order mystery advents.I’ve seen some that I would have been disappointed getting. Maybe you could post a link that people who wanted to see could click and not see by accident. I think I would still be surprised when I finally opened each especially not knowing which day each one was going to show up and colours are often different in person. Your new sweater is beautiful and is such a good fit.
Thank you for your feedback!
