One way to see it is on any given day and any given street in fairbanks you are really unlikly to encounter danger from most humans, wild animals on the other hand is another thing . no place is 100% free of dangerous street crime but its pretty close here on a average day many streets in many different cities are not even walk able . fairbanks worst would be other places best

Fairbanks and North Pole have become even more of truck stops than they ever have been. east side of town is now full of 164,000 pound double trucks running through many times per hour, 24 hours a day. Red state legislature and governor are all-in on mining. Mining, which screws up the land, and uses the public roads as industrial haul roads and yet pays almost no taxes. Fairbanks is now full of right-wingers, rednecks and pickup trucks like never before. I do not suggest moving to Fairbanks. Some of the highest electricity rates in the nation is a real treat too. Roads are a mess because there a almost no tax in Alaska. Also, the oh-so-independent Alaska talk is much BS. Almost half of the income to the state is now federal money. Solar is marginal and the payback is very long. Schools are marginal and the governor is all-in on supporting private and religious schools with state money but not so good on public education. Been here 52 years and only stay for the kids and grandchildren. Was nice and then big oil, and more military have made the place a right-wing crazy state.

Are they finding certain demographics experiencing more violent crime than others? Are certain age groups more likely to have an issue , certain ethnicities, are the crimes occurring more in one area of town than another area of town so if you were to stay away from this area would your odds of getting attacked fall ? Does fairbanks "crime map" their crimes, Does Anchorage ?

I live in Fairbanks. I love it here, but I accept that we’re on the frontier. You can’t get everything you had in Seattle.

Man, I love to see videos of people who live in cold climates. It is actually warmer in Reykjavik (been there 4 times) than in Fairbanks. I find your life style amazing!! I live in the Manchac Swamps of Louisiana (originally from Memphis) scorching hot 9 months and warm 3 months. 85F at 2:41 am. One brief cold night a year, maybe 28 F, snow/ice every 5 years, brings down the cypress trees. I find this life amazing. Greg Adams, Springfield, Louisiana.

I’ve always lived in southcentral AK and sometimes feel myself drawn towards the interior…I love almost everything about Fairbanks compared to Anchorage, except for when it comes to ONE thing….the mountains….there’s something magical about living at the base of so many beautiful mountains as a backdrop to your everyday life…

Excellent! My Anchorage friends often come to Fairbanks complaining about how wet and cold their summer has been while Fairbanks has been warm and sunny.

Yup. We live in town with an oil powered boiler...cost about $4k per year but that fluctuates wildly. Has been as high as $6k when fuel oil was nearly $5 per gallon. Our house has 18" thick walls 2 feet of insulation in the attic and holds heat well. The borough has been pushing hard for people to convert to natural gas, lot of collusion with the interested parties. But that wont be any cheaper once it becomes the standard, probably more expensive, in the long run because of the green woke idiots. We have very little sunlight for 9 months out of the year, so solar just doesnt really do the job..more hype than reality..whole lot of confirmation bias there.

I lived in Fairbanks Alaska for 4 years. The people in Fairbanks are weird, but awesome weird lol go see my friends at the Big I! (The big international) John is a great guy (the owner) and the bartenders are very nice, (and strong!) as they should be in Alaska. Also the red fox was pretty awesome! Oh and if you need a ride call Roy! Great cab service. And say hi to Dino! First time I seen one of my favorite bands (flogging Molly) was in Fairbanks. Their guitarist got me in for free! (Thanks Dennis) we hit up the after party at the university of Alaska Fairbanks. It was a blast! Also the ice sculptures every year is incredible!!! And the Iditarod came through when I was there and got to meet the dog mushers, and their sled team dogs. It was incredible. Oh and the Chena hot springs are not too far. I believe it was fox county. Speaking of fox county I think that’s where “skinny dicks halfway inn” is located lol crazy as bar. Anyway that’s all I will say. Stay safe and have fun if you ever visit Fairbanks Alaska! I was young and stupid and still had fun and I’m alive still (surprisingly) it truly is not that damn bad

Okay almond milk is the worst thing you could be drinking if you have stomach issues/ digestive issues. I recommend doing a little bit of research on low carb/ keto/ carnivore diets. Many, many people have been able to reverse these types of issues. Not kidding, just take a look. We are thinking about possibly moving to Alaska in the semi near future. My husband could transfer with his work to either Fairbanks or Anchorage. We are thinking Fairbanks might be a better fit for us.

I bought a house in fairbanks after I left the military. I love living up here but damn is heat expensive. But many other things dont cost more than anywhere else ive been in the US. For example most things at walmart cost about the same in Missouri or Arizona.

We deserve to have green even though it's late after the cold winter. It will be interesting what the fire season will be. Although it's not like it was when I was a kid.

I'll tell you what is appealing to me about Alaska. No people. People running away from California are flooding all other states in the West. I can't drive to or from work nor shopping now. It's bad here in Utah.
