John Fraser’s Wild Life
Canada
Приєднався 13 сер 2023
This is the beginning of the grand sailing journey to Scotland, John's ancestral home. It's gonna be tough, it's gonna be wild, but it's gonna be a huge adventure. Let this be the spark of inspiration for everyday adventurers. Don't miss out - hit that subscribe button and join us on this epic quest!
Vie Sauvage is currently in the Pacific Northwest. She is a Newport 28 sailing sloop and John has been fixing her up, learning to sail, and preparing for this huge adventure! The plan is to spend the year sailing around Vancouver Island, then down the west coast and through the Panama Canal. From there we'll travel up the eastern seaboard of the United States and then across the Atlantic Ocean to Scotland (likely not on Vie Sauvage). This is that journey.

Crabs, Dreams, and Sailboat Schemes - Living on a sailboat in 2025
This is the first episode of 2025 and a chance to begin again on the story of John and the old Newport 28 sailboat that he lives on. In this episode, John's good friend, Kevin @fromthewildca comes to visit while Mary is away in Colorado. Red Rock Crab, right off the dock, are on the menu as well as a minor repair the sailboat's wood stove.
After a summer of big changes and many adjustments, life is settled to the point where the videos can continue. The plan is to release between 12 and 20 episodes this year. This will be an archive of the adventures that John and Mary enjoy this year. There are plans for fly fishing trips and backcountry camping as well as the out-of-the-ordinary lifestyle of simply living on a sailboat on the Pacific Ocean.
The plan still exists for John to sail to Scotland to meet up with Mary to get married, but for now, we need to focus on saving money for the bigger boat along with all of the other adventurous plans we have in mind. This year, we'll be learning to sail around the southern Gulf Islands along with a few other trips, like the Yukon to fly fish for Grayling! Don't worry, Mary will be appearing in episodes beginning February!

Happy New Year, hope all goes well!
Good to see you back on!
Hey, thanks!
Water in harbours is absolute filth, especially thanks to toxic ablative bottom paint. I would not feed from these crabs.
Are you solo on your boat?
Mary is with me on the boat. She spends her time back and forth in Colorado, as she was when Kevin and I filmed this episode. She’ll be on future episodes for sure.
Hi John great to see you again. Apologies I forgot to let the first ads play. I saw a video from Lost Lakes explaining ad revenue which is why I let them play on certain channels. Perhaps you could ask your viewers to let them play as it aids revenue allowing you to continue on UA-cam. Best regards from the UK Stef 🙂👍
Thank you for your consideration, Steph.
Hey bud! I was lucky to see this one. I don’t watch FB much anymore, YT ads have become asinine. Stay in touch and let me know if you make it up island one day soon.
I get that. Thanks for reaching out!
So good to see Kevin come down to help kick off the new year. Looking forward to new adventures!
So great to see you John! Love this video!
More to come!

Hi John are you no longer doing videos?
@@mayvatcher4858 we will be re-launching the channel this month. I took a break to concentrate on some important life changes and develop a plan for the channel moving forward.
Awesome! Thanks a bunch !!
Well, we all definitely have periods where we may need to disappear but at the same time, if appropriate, a short "whats been going on" video would be nice. But, you don't actually owe it to anyone. I guess it comes down to were you hoping to moneyize YT or just share the your journey. Good videos apparently take a lot of time to make. Anyway, good luck in whatever path you choose.
I am hearing you Matthew. Videos coming back soon. And a “what’s up” video is more than appropriate.
Found you through a discussion with some gals on pantsuit nation today. Subscribed. I'm fixing up my place, to sell my organic berry farm with food forest for my next adventure and am so inspired by you. I hope to one day have a partner who speaks of me as well as yours does you.

Thank you for standing with women. Your wife posted your response to the "Your body..." comment. I will be telling others to come subscribe as well.
It also means something that you took the time to reach out here. 🙏🏻 My take on supporting women seems like such an obvious position to take. Something that, at one time, would’ve been obvious to all.
Are you really on threads complaining about republicans or are you being spoofed?
I don’t complain about groups of people or over-generalize. I talk about specific issues that affect people I love.
@ just looking for verification. Is it you? Please speak directly. Just trying to see if it’s you or a fake account. Don’t be coy.
@ I’ll take that as a yes. It’s a real account. That’s not happening dude. You’re calling for lies. But I’m done with this channel. Have a good life. You should’ve stuck to sailing.
John what happened no new updates or videos
Still just struggling to survive here. I’ve just paid off the complete annual moorage bill, and funds are tight. The videos take a lot of time and energy to produce and frankly, I am not doing anything all that interesting right now as I work towards being sustainable with $. The videos will resume once I get remotely comfortable again and can start focusing on content creation.
Well sounds like these are the perfect time to be making videos. Share your life struggles, victories, all of it. But hope ya turn things aroumd soon. I just got my boat all fixed up lookimg to take her for a adventure. Ill come see ya buddy.@JohnFrasersWildLife
@ thanks Tim. You are perhaps correct about that.
Was just thinking of a bike on a boat last night! Love the real videos
@@QTipCan thanks. The bike dismantles enough to stow down below while we’re underway.
The best time of my life was when she walk away. Enjoy the journey.
Curious, will I get a reply? This channel has been silent on this computer, so is that going to be the last? Several channels I watched over times have gone this way.

Were you able to earn enough money at your marina varnish jobs to afford all this travel and the fancy hotels, etc? I just remember vividly how stretched you were for cash once upon a time not so long ago.

After having to radically downsize, Mary's place looks very desirable. I wonder at her choice, or is it only temporary? She'll keep this place in CO?

@@fgb3126 it is a rental. We’ll decide on things over the winter. We’re just not sure right now.
Two weeks since a bona fide video rather than "shorts". I find "shorts" to be unsatisfying. They just whet my appetite without filling my hunger. Is work becoming too time consuming? It would be understandable. I do wish you all the luck.
