@WildMonkDrumcovers thank you so much my friend. In regards to the sound… all I can say is that I prefer the use of coated heads as they do provide a warmer, sort of richer sound. Once you have them tuned and happy with how they sound naturally on the recording, just run them through an FX channel with some reverb plugin, and voila 🙂👍🏻

@paulocardosodrums i m trying I have coated om top clear on bottom But when i get it sounding good to my ear its awefull on mics I m getting there tho

Bart… also play with mic positioning. That helps as well. Try and point the mic at the centre of the head. 🤘🏻🥁🤘🏻🥁 it’s all about trial and error at times.

@paulocardosodrums it realy is And when i get the big studio up amd running i will At the moment i play in a small drumcell thats just 2 m by 2,5 m😅

Hey Eric… that was one of the reasons why I ended up going with Presonus. Not only can be used as a standalone mixer but you can multitrack either to the SD card recorder/reader or to a computer via USB. However the best part is that once all that is done, you can then use it as a controller for the software. 👍🏻🤘🏻🥁

@WildMonkDrumcovers thank you so much for the comment brother. This setup is the culmination of many years and many different set ups. At one point I had audio interfaces and a separate controller. Once I got this digital desk, it just makes so much sense as you can use it in many different ways. Superb to play live as a mixer, use it to record while playing live, then use it as a controller when mixing. I love the D6. Have tried many different mics for bass drum, but absolutely love this mic. 🤘🏻🥁🤘🏻🥁

Hi Bart. That is my Presonus Studiolive 24 series III mixer. It has now been discontinued but new models are available. Works as a mixer on its own and allows you to multitrack to an SD card which is built into the mixer. Also works as an audio interface which is then connected via USB into my Mac Pro. Once everything is recorded, I then use it as a controller. I’ll try and go a quick video on it so you can see it in more detail if you want? 👍🏻🤘🏻🥁

Hey Bart, thank you so much. The fader thing is just my iPad as the Mac Pro is to my left on the desk. I can control my mixer and software with the iPad through Presonus’ own apps. It’s great as I can calibrate gains, eq, arm to record, monitoring… in essence, everything. But while recording, everything goes into Studio One in Pre rather than Post. So everything goes in straight, just with levels. No eq or processing of any kind.
