Did you catch that footpeg before it fell off right at the end of the video? Nice build, love the groms.
@@chem599 haha yeah it was just on there wasn’t tight yet was still finishing it up when I made the video
Good stuff!
@@ToiletFinger thanks man
I installed a PZ30 30mm carb on mine and it works well with my other mods
Sound like 150 r crazy 🤙🏽
@@Kevr.137 thank you dude
Great video! I swapped the stock carb on my Philippines spec XR 150 to a PZ 27 using the stock airbox and hoses. The bike sat for awhile when I returned to the US for 7+ months and now it's running like crap. I'm sure the gas is bad. I like that flat slide carb that you're using! We don't have the charcoal canister or carb heater here & we are able to reuse the throttle cable because it comes right out of the cap without cutting anything. Is throttle response smooth all the way up to top revs? Did you stay with the included jetting? Where are you in the US. I'm at sea level here outside Manila. Once again,a well done, no nonsense video! 👍 Update: I found the same carb and intake manifold that you used. Still looking for the AF. What did you change the jetting to in your update? Thanks
‼️‼️🙌🏽
Sheesh that’s a pretty bike lol 🫶💜
The two wires going to the carb. Goes to a carb heater. The choke is on the other side.
how would one do this
what brand cylinder are you using
Its from Thailand. You can buy the same kit from me on ebay
Hi ok what is your ebay seller's name,i am building 2 grom motors 1 2v 186 on a tbolt bbk & a koso 170 4v,but after seeing your tube vid i like the look of your bbk cylinder to 4v instead of the koso 170,I've a 3mm stroked kitaco crank & 5speed to install
@@darrynnorris4368 Mxdaua118 on ebay. The kit comes with everything needed for the installation. The cylinder is way better than the tbolt kits and koso kits. Super thick sleeve no issues with crank them and could bore it out bigger in the future if you want.
Do you know how much power you make at the wheel? They have the Daytona 212 4 valve motors that claim 20hp.
@@NICKELGHANDI haven’t dyno tuned yet but id say 30/35hp raced a ninja 300 yesterday was super close.
My 2024 xr150L is listed as 4 valves in the specs. I wonder if it’s true. I will find out soon as the big bore kit arrives
Thanks for the video. I bought one of these and put it on my XR150L. What size main jet did you end up using?
Have you figured out the jetting yet?
I can help if you need it.
@@DustySteel I never got it running right, so I went back to the stock carb. What size jets did you use? I tried pretty much every jet, different clip locations on the needle.
@@atherton-62 what size carb did you end up getting? I was able to get a 28mm to work but it wants a 25 pilot with a 135 main at 6000’ in elevation. That’s with a cold air intake and a de-restricted exhaust. I also ported the intake and exhaust. Really the bike wants a 26mm. 28mm is recommended for 170cc-190cc. My bike is at 222cc now and I’m going to install a 30mm PWK.
I have a wideband setup to know for sure with tuning.
Did you have to bore out the intake side of the motor to 28mm for the carb to work or did you literally just bolt it up? I want to upgrade to carb on mine.
Just bolted it up man, if you port the head to match the new intake tho it will help even more
Awesome!! What size jets did you end up using?
Beast.
Thanks man
As someone looking at this bike to purchase, what's the difference in power that you'd get in changing the "jets" in the carb' verses adding a whole new carb? I get that this is an upgrade but I'm a linear guy....lol, I try to put numbers to paper so it's easy to see the difference? I've seen several people change the needles but you're the 1st I've seen doing this. I expect it to have a different sound & smoother run but do you know what the claims on this carb are, increased power wise? I'm sorry to be a pain in the butt, I like seeing the upgrade & I'm thinking about the bike so all this is important to me. thanks & peace
Lmk what you find out coz same, got my eye on this bike
Wat'z Up Aston, I'm not an expert on bikes but since I don't have much money I don't mind researching & asking a lot of questions.... The idea of a new bike w/o any broken stuff that I can't see is a good reason to buy this. A new bike ain't like a used one that they didn't take care of. That said, this bike has been around in S.America/Asian countries for a lot of years so it's a proven reliable bike unlike the crappy Amazon/Chinese stuff for $2,000, you get this one for $2,800 + Dealer Fees($3,500) total. There's really nothing wrong w/ the carb on this bike except it will die on you like as you're leaving a stop sign if you don't give it lots of gas. Same on trails, in low gear you have to do a lot more gas/clutch to keep from stalling & that's why everyone talks about doing the carbs. This bike is not gonna get much more power no matter what you do & there is a big bore kit(piston & head) that'll make her a 220cc bike but even w/ that upgrade you still won't be carving up the Interstate Highways. This little bike is a town bike & you can safely ride her on a 60MPH Road but even then I'd let cars by you if they wanted by, you got the right to a lane but best to let em' go by you to be safe. But in town she's got enough to get ya where you're going. The carb fix is changing both JET's inside to a little larger to give more fuel but you don't have to do it & it doesn't make the bike faster, just keeps ya from stalling her which you'll learn to do anyway. You can open the airbox & fix the carbs all for cheap & it might get you a little more but not much & you really don't have to do anything right away. The 1st things I'd do is get a better set of tires & if you ride 70% on roads, 30% on trails, buy a decent tire for a 70/30 ride but only after using the ones on it for 2k miles or so. Overall, it's a good bike that'll get you around for cheap & that's why I'm looking hard at her. Also, when ya get ready, look for last years model b/c it will be less money for the same damn bike. Honda ain't doing major upgrades to this b/c if they do it's mess with all the Emissions & they are competing w/ Chinese Bikes that cost less so they don't wanna go to high. I'm an old guy looking at this bike b/c she's light & reliable, don't need much upkeep so ya ride her for a few yrs & leave it on side the road. Not really but she's a good bike for 1sr bike. Let me know if ya buy one? peace
@user-dv7hb2sc9m fs man, it'll be closer to fall when I get mine. I plan on buying it out flat. I'm looking to make it my daily on decent nights to go to work. Thank you for your feedback really helps me out. I'm pretty sure imma get her just a matter of time
28mm is too large for the stock bike. It’ll work though. At 6000’ with a 30 pilot jet and a 135 main, it’s too rich at idle and actually wants a 25 pilot. (Also cold air intake, ported intake and exhaust, de-restricted exhaust) 28mm is recommended for 170cc-190cc. I have 222cc now and it’s still rich with a 28mm and 30 pilot. 30mm is recommended for 222cc. I’ll be able to give an update on jet sizing with a 30mm here soon. Upgrading the carb doesn’t really gain top speed, just more power in each gear. The 222cc definitely allows for higher top speed and hill climbing power. Need to test different sprocket ratios to test for higher top speed. An upgraded cam and heavy duty valve springs would also really help.
I can climb long hills now in 5th gear and it gains speed instead of loosing speed and having to downshift.
That second special but, how did you keep it from spinning when trying to loosen it.
Sorry not following? What do you mean
@@andreoli118 sorry the special nut that holds the clutch basket in place…. Is there a trick to keep it from spinning when trying to loosen it?
any idea if it will work with xr 125l 2004? ;) carb looks identical
Not really sure but it probably will work there all basically the same motors still
Did you gain any top end speed?
Where did you get this head? Only 4v heads I see are for the 4 speed bikes and I'd love thins on my 24
💯 going to do this as well. Yes please more upgrades!!!
Hell yeah man!
What exhaust are you running? Sounds good!
If only there was some sort of device that could hold the camera for you. Someone could make a lot of money with such a device.
Some should come up with it man!

@@GSBW_ maybe not who knows
Nice upgrade, what part in Florida you in?
In south Florida dude
Good stuff, mad impressive!
Mine is a pz27 carb with a a 66mm bore, definitely have a nice power but thinkn of upgrading to 28mm to balance the speed
Defense worth it man.
Am I correct in the size at just under 200cc. And what top speed did you get to . I am looking to go at least 70-75 mph.
Interesting, thanks for the video. And yes more upgrades.
No problem thanks for watching man
Nice!
Hi all XR150L owners , The new carb sounds great but what carb is it and a link and parts number would be helpful , the carb boot number also would be nice along with the new air filter . And how much did the upgrade costs $ . And last was top speed improved and hill or wind made easier with more torque . Thanks for the video . Please add your thoughts and comments .
@@andreoli118yes, please list the jet sizes used.

@@GiveKwenenhu that carburetor is just a cheap PWK. I have one, works great.

So if you have a 186cc piston how is it a 205cc friendly asking
I’m running the Dhm 186cc Kit also I was curious. I thought you would have to get a new piston and sleeve to fit the 205cc the 186 cylinder wouldn’t fit a 205cc piston
Because of the stroker crank it gives it more displacement. Use a engine size calculator and put in 63.9mm stroke and 64mm bore it gives you a 205cc engine size. Im going to make it even bigger soon
@@c0byreen671 yeah they don’t sale anything bigger than 64mm for the groms. Anything bigger than that you will have to sleeve it. Can sleeve it to 72mm if a upgrade bigger pin rod
i bet the noise your haring is a gasket leak or exhaust leak. and there is a upgrade for the electrical /ignition system and a lithium battery will also help out. your air fuel should be around 12.5 -13.2 its also recommended to keep going through the throttle curve at multiple. ranges so the ecu learns it. also a direct drive hub instead of the kush drive puts the power out better.
You literally couldn't of done a better job on the crank. Ive never seen one that was 0 on both sides before.
Thanks man thats good to hear then 🤙🏼
nice that's quit a bit of parts defiantly not cheap all out would be interesting to see a grom clone with a zs212cc 5speed line up next to each other. there is a koso fuel injection set up and a aracer standalone ecu set up it will be beasty
