Hayabusa Can-Am X3 Part 2: Beginning Mods Walk Around
A quick walk around of the Hayabusa X3 at the very start. We will break down all the starting mods on this 2018 Can-Am X3 XRS Turbo R and the prices of all those mods. We will then walk through and see how much money we can make by selling stuff and how much we can put towards swapping the Suzuki Hayabusa 1300 engine into this thing! There are lots of great parts on this machine and the previous owner took great care of it and spent some good money on it!

Just gotta pay attention 😂😂 jk
Tire chains do wonders
Literally never even grossed my mind 🤦🏼♂️ that is a brilliant idea!
Very cool - if you could do the CVT like the other X3 so you have the 4X4. The technology is out there. Plus the Trans are VERY strong in this unit.
Yea I really want the 4WD, but no CVT because I want to shift gears. I am going to use the stock X3 transmission so that it will allow me to use the stock X3 4WD 😎👍🏻 just gotta connect the Busa engine to the X3 trans with a chain, cogged belt, or a gearbox of some kind
They have logged belts for high horse power wood chippers and they take a ton of punishment, might be something to chek into...
Good thinking
I'm friends with Phil just lmk
Yes please I absolutely would love to talk to him. Literally in the shop with the Busa engine sitting in the frame trying to figure out how TF I’m going to do this lol Let me know how best to contact ya for info 👍🏻😎
When this whole build is done, I really want to meet up with you guys to show you and meet you all
Bad"Ass 💪🏼💪🏼💚😎👌🏻🗯💥🤙🏻🤙🏻
stay tuned - its going to get fun!
What did you do with your x3 motor?
I bought another X3 (see the video published back on Sunday) I’m Still going to hold onto it as a spare for the race car :)
@ damn I was gonna say I want it for my defender lol
In for this! 🤘
You know it man!
The simple things
Dang right!
You won't have to worry about it once trump closes down the parks.
Hell yea man! Let’s make everything political! 😎🤘🏼🤡
Most LGBTQ parks have them
Let's see that carbon fiber dash panel u got that looks sweet
110% THE COOLEST MOD EVER. Also, 110% the biggest PITA to install! lol If you go back through my videos I have 2 videos, a video installing it called: “Race Car Feel: installing a GlazzKraft dash” and I have one reviewing it called, “off road elegance: reviewing the GlazzKraft dash” Everything you need to know man! 😎👍🏻
A local %100 built that.
Man, now I feel guilt for using it and not contributing!!! 🤦🏼♂️
Build them yourself that's how you make it happen.
I already have one at home - best thing ever! This is the only ORV park I’ve ever gone too - normally it’s green dot roads, but it Would be fun to build one tho out there. X3 AND heavy equipment - that’s a GOOOOOD weekend!
I’ll fly you to Georgia to help me 😂😂 I’ve been fighting mine for 2 weekends. Final drive gear is stripped.
I’ve always wanted to go to Georgia! lol What part are you stuck on?
Vote Republican or we won't have ohv parks.
Now that we got the big dog back at home in Washington everything should start running smoothly again! 🤘🏼😜
You should have your own ramps , duh
Man, how did I never think of that??? Guess picking it up to get it in and out of the trailer is a little silly 😑🤦🏼♂️😜
Very cool
Dude I love you 4 seater build - I put a carbon dash in my race car because of your video! lol
Looks like Walker Valley
😎👍🏻
Trump 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Goddamn right!!! 🤘🏼😜
Except he wanted to defund the parks service in which case our local OHV park is federally administered.
Are you interested in selling the engine out of it? I just lost a cylinder on my x3. Got bad E85 fuel
No going to hold onto it, but thank you for checking!
Got damn
Mega oh sh*t moment that’s for sure! Lol
Can’t wait to see this build. Okay hear me out. Peanut butter falcon. You already have a honey badger. Hayabusa means falcon. moral of The Peanut Butter Falcon? The Peanut Butter Falcon is the story of success, never giving up, and soaring above the limits others impose upon you. Or, maybe, it's the story of compromise, listening to others, and learning hard lessons. A story of someone with disabilities who can overcome difficulties. I think the name fits, lol. It might not be an intimidating name but it fits.
That’s a good one!
I’m still trying to come up with a name for this project. The race car we call the ‘Honey Badger’ and I really like the name Menace or Tyrant - but Tim Cameron already has those names for his rock bouncers - so what do you all think?
High maintenance
isnt the stock canam x3 engine and torque higher than the hyabusa engine stock already? 200/135 to 190/110 on the hyabusa. seems like alot of work and fabrication to essentially have less power than you could have with a stock rr x3. very curious to see how it works out. might be more worth it to build a lighter chasis for the hyabusa engine and keep the canam with original engine?
It is yes - BUT the plan is to add boost and I want to make it paddle shifted. Basically I had the idea 4 years ago before the tree/shop fiasco and then the Mav R basically is my idea lol but I think it’ll still sound sick and be a fun project :)
@thejourneyretold got it, it is definitely a sick project. not trying to discourage in any way was just curious. being able to manually shift gears will be sick also.
@cjcallen5974 oh for sure man - I know it’s seems weird, but what’s in my head will be sick. Look up a radical SR3, basically I want that same paddle shift setup and autoblipper so I can shift gears. I think an X3 on 35’s 80” wide with 300hp and paddle shifter will be badass…too bad Can-Am beat me to my own idea! lol In all seriousness tho - trying to think of a project name, so if you have any ideas, post them up!
@@thejourneyretold ya it sounds awesome, will definetly stay tuned to watch the progress
Can’t wait to see the outcome
Same here man! I hope it’s half as cool in reality as it is in my head! lol
😧🫣 yikes bro!! Good job seeing it before heading in!!!
No joke - definitely got my attention!
Go faster
Will do
The caliper mounting bracket @4:00 looks like a very specific fit to the factory knuckle. I'm running ZRP knuckles which I'm thinking from what I can see visually probably wont work with this brake kit. Bummer...
Assuming your ZRP knuckles accept the factory brake calipers, they should work
If there’s any measurements I can get for you that might help, let me know and I can make it happen
I don't want to be one of those commenters finding faults and quibbling over small things, so please take this constructively. Early on I was advised best to grease at the end of the day, rather than the start, especially during cold weather. The bushings and pins are warm and take the grease better. Same for filling diesel. Do it after work rather than in morning. Leaving tank empty overnight invites condensation, and the next thing you know you are replacing your fuel/water separator. You are def right about greasing. It's a bit of a pain but so worth doing. Grease is cheap. Replacing bushings is expensive,
I typically grease the mowers morning lunch and end of the day, but I never considered the diesel or machine pins! That all definitely makes sense to me and plus that way the machine is all ready to go in the AM too. Not a bad way to do it! :)
It’s also frowned upon to run a rotary attachment on a skid steer with no lexan door to protect the operator from flying debris.
I 110% agree! I’m the only one that runs it and right after winter wanting to upgrade to an enclosed cab and high flow machine. So stoked! I always make sure to never lift it more than a couple inches off the ground and always try to wear safety glasses - but I’ve definitely been hit with stuff that’s for sure. But you’re absolutely right - I’d say it’s more than frowned upon…it can be quite dangerous.
I want to see this
Well I just bought another X3 2 days ago specifically to cut up for this - so subscribe and tag along! 👍🏻😜😎
Do you have a video of you driving it? That would be cool to see driving it
Hopefully soon - just picked up another X3 to start building it so that way we do not have to tear apart the race car! Subscribe to see the build series and the drives!
Iv always had the problem with knowing how much to charge you don’t wanna be too high but you don’t want to be too low even knowing where to start is the hard part
Just add up all your expenses and pay yourself $70/hr to start then you’ll get more comfortable and build from there :)
What Was the point of it
Entertainment
Sometimes slow and steady wins the race
Literally exactly how we won our last race - picked a pace we knew the car would hold together and we could do the whole thing mistake free - and it worked!
8000k miles wow!!! I only have 2k on my 2020 XRS we don’t use it as much as we should 😢
Gotta get out there and use that thing!!! 👍🏻😎 what kind of riding do you like to do most?
You caught it in time, thats whats important. $$$🍀☘
VERY true. And it was a simple o-ring and back up and running. Could’ve been WAY worse!
I hate that shit I did a motor swap in a excavator this summer
That had to be a serious undertaking!
@ it wasn’t to bad I’m doing a 98 4Runner now
What liquid is that exactly?
Hydraulic fluid in the belly pan of a skid steer. Had an o-ring break
An much more reliable engine
In a street bike they’re super reliable, but I have a feeling the gearbox won’t be too reliable - but we shall see! 🤘🏼😎
There’s a reason why you don’t see side by side 4x4 with motor cycle motors and trans…. The clutch won’t hold up one day of riding. 4 big tires and a little clutch with a chain drive… your wasting time and money… You can’t add a thousand lb of weight on a motorcycle motor and expect it to perform….. it won’t!
Seems like the Radical’s do pretty well… everything is impossible until someone does it!
If I were going to buy new , it would have to be a maverick R .. 100 mph out the box and no belt…
Dude you and me both!! 😍😍😍 I’m hoping next year I can find a used Mav R racecar… but kind of doubt it lol
that thing chops hard
So stoked to put a turbo on it
Does it have nuetral brake?
What do you mean a neutral brake?
That thing and that place are sickk. I could only dream of this for a while to come though 😂
Thank you! Definitely a TON of fun
Should of used kawasaki H2r motor supercharged 1000cc (244hp/113tq) factory specs. Or a Ducati v4 998cc v4 (234hp/94tq) factory specs The H2 sounds amazing w/high reving online 4cyl w/blow off valve The Ducati v4 has a deep sound bottom end and a super deep high rev v4 Or the other option would be the v-twin off 2010 Yamaha raider xv19czr 1883cc/113cui 140hp/137ft/tq
Fuuuuu dude I never even considered an H2!!!!!!! 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ that would’ve been so sick!!! A Ducati would be absolutely epic too, but realistically I cannot do that to a Duc - I would have to turn it into a piece of art and leave it in the house. lol
Spent all that money, get out of the house and use it. Hit the nail on the head!!! That’s exactly right.
Thank you! I see too many people who pour money into them and let them sit because they’re “too nice” - I’ve done this way too many times with different projects and every time I sold one I regretted not using it enough. So this time I decided to do the opposite - my goal is to find out just how many miles we can put on it and how many different events and races and places we can go with it! Few more months and we should cross that 10,000 mile mark! 🤘🏼😎
Great video my dude!
Glad you liked it! What's your favorite thing about an X3?
Totally agree. SXS do everything but nothing best. Its the really the average Joe's Ultra 4 car. I enjoy my X3 the most out of all toys.
The average joes U4 - that’s the best way to put it for sure! I still dream of having an IFS U4 sometime!
I agree I have a rr max and I have been racing mx , quads, snowmobiles, drag cars offshore boats ect. Somewhat professionally when I was younger. Theres nothing quite like them when I first purchased mine I couldn't believe what it would go through in so many categories mud rock climbing, huge hills, water crossings. Bought a winch and have only used it once on three years and didn't have to use it if I wanted to back down a huge hill just got wedged from sliding next to a tree wasn't going to scratch up my doors haha tree kickers now!
