Hey guys, this a video on why and how i carry the RATS tourniquet. This Carey method was based on John Lovell’s method from Warrior-Poet Society. I’m not endorsed or sponsored or anything, just giving my opinion on tourniquets and options on how to carry them! It’s being made still. (FYI for those who are watching in 2024 and hopefully the near future) I think they just discontinued the OG safe maker models… Now they have some in kind of a stone wash/satin finish…

As a combaf medic from 2012-2019 we didn't like these. There are numerous issues in use. Get a cat or sof t. , Israeli bandage, and combat guaze. Those 3 will serve you much better in a variety of bloodloss situations. I'm now a detective and police trainer, and have come across many depts using the rat. While those can work, they work in very limited situations and are more prone to failure. I'm still a tc3 instructor and would highly recommend taking a TC3 med course. Go to a national guard base that has a medic section (usually headquarters) and ask if you can attend when they go through their tc3 course. As long as they have a good commander they should have no problem with a civilian attending. We actually encouraged it while I was teaching. You'll learn life safing skills and meet some really nice guys. It sucks you stopped uploading. You have the potential to reach a lot of people, especially as you hone your craft. I like your philosophy and you seem to have a great disposition. Hope you're doing well. God bless from TX.

Thanks for the video. I've loved push daggers for a long time. I've not carried them much, but I think that they are a great idea. As you said, there are no fancy techniques to learn. One can just punch as one would normally, but each punch will be that much more dangerous to someone attacking you. I like the Cold Steel designs, but I've had a problem with Cold Steel as a company. I'm looking for other options in push daggers.

Lost me with your suggestion that school kids should be taught how to use this in order to keep your 2nd Amendment rights.... that's your solution for school shootings? Seriously?? I sincerely hope that you never have to experience having one of your children involved in a school shooting.

    • @tannerclark9202

I sincerely hope the same for you! It is never to ones detriment to advance their understanding and ability to use emergency life saving equipment. The unfortunate reality of violence is that there are no “solutions”. It’s my understanding that there exists only precautionary and preemptive measures to mitigate the volume and severity of damage that those who wish to do harm on others are able to achieve. This is but one such measure.

It's clearly a solid minimal design, buy it kills me that these knives sell for a couple hundred bucks. I know it's a great steel, and the sheath and trainer are good, but I can't help but feel like I can get more knife for the money. Did you handle this blade before buying? Or did you just get it from a seller that would accept returns? I'd pay for a perfect fit too I guess...had you used other production defense blades like Kabar TDI, but found it inadequate? I'd appreciate any insight you can lend. Thanks

@@quickdiy8127 you’re right. It didn’t get the same approval rating as TQs such as the CAT or SOFT, though it’s intended use isn’t the same. It was designed for individuals with smaller limbs such as children, dogs, or in the case of my current job, people with serious drug addictions who’s limbs are atrophied so extremely that a more traditional TQ might have trouble winching down property to achieve complete aretieral occlusion. Additionally, it’s smaller and easier to carry and stow on a person, which means someone is more likely to carry it than a CAT or similar. And I would prefer someone rolling up one at least 1 of these, than 0 of anything less. That’s the approach I take to it. I’m not arguing at all that it didn’t get the same approval
