Also even just watching the texture break down of the map was amazing. Thank you for all your hard work I spent thousands of hours on your maps.

I wasn't able to find Tru Vue Reflection Control glass where I live (Spain) but I did find Tru Vue Museum Glass. I bought 2 sheets and it works great!!! No newton rings at all and the scans come out really sharp. Thanks once more for such an amazing video which got me in the right direction!!

Solid information from your entire serious. Still fighting the sharpness-demon of my flatbed epson 750. Parts of me say I should fork over a heavy loan to get a Nikon Super CoolScan 9000 ED and make even more bad decisions, but even then it's yet again dated, could die at the slightest touch, and would improve the sharpness maybe a little more at the cost of a used car??????? What a hobby. Looking forward to more videos and wildness from you!

I wonder if this would help with color negative conversion … at least NLP applies their own profile, so I guess this would not work. But for a manual conversion … ?

You mentioned it in passing, but I can confirm it: Using high-res pixel-shift on a camera can make camera scanning viable even for 120 film and (to a certain degree) 4x5! For the same reason you've shown regarding always using 4800 ppi on your scanner. I do use an Olympus Pen F digital, which has an 80 MP mode (together with the Olympus 30 mm macro), and it does give excellent results with 120 film (up to 6x9). Even the 4x5 negatives turn out with details down to film grain. And some of those Olympus m43 models are quite affordable used, so it's an option. Also, a flatbed scanner permanently requires lots of (table) space, while camera scanning can be set up temporarily. Since I already had the Pen F, it was the way to go (and will remain for everything smaller than 4x5); one day I'll go Epson V850 (or whatever model will be available then, but I think the V850 will be the last model), because 8x10 is lurking somewhere in the future … ;-)

If you're going straight on the scanner glass like you suggest without the film holder, is there any benefit to cutting the glass exactly to negative size? Would it be a little easier to cut it a bit larger so you don't have to line it up as precisely? P.S. this video is amazing and exactly what I've been looking for for a while!

I use the Pacific Image Prime Film XA for all my 35mm and love the results. Flatbed for 35mm is just not great in comparison. CCD sensors and all. I have a v700 for 120 film and have recently started fluid mounting, I am very pleased with the results thought I still have some experimenting to do (got the Epson fluid mount kit). Before that I experimented and got the optimal height for the film holder on my particular scanner. A tip, you can easily open up those epson scanners and clean the glass on the inside. Also, I went with VueScan for my scanning software. I actually bought a pro license before they changed the licensing model so I am lucky to be grandfathered in.

Thanks for this! Unfortunately almost every single time I scan w/ borders (not using the mask my v600 came with) there’s a hazy ass blue tone. I try and edit it out via Lightroom but it still looks like trash. Any suggestions on how not to get that blue hazy color on my negatives? Thanks man

this function does not more exist on Count Strike 2. Exist a texture Tools with name "PRECIP", but i dont understand whats your functions..

all this video series has done is convinced me to use camera scanning regarless of any drawbacks lol. Question: Why not replace the scanner glass with etched glass surely this would save some effort?

i done did it again. sorry for the wall. also a repost because i said a NAUGHTY WORD!!! so glad i wasn't the only person driven crazy by this stupid series. why would anyone think it was an ARG when nobody was interested at all? This game is debatably a full on psy op, not just a shilling like with like Cane and Lynch. Pushed by the corrupt review/news sites despite the marketing lies, worse gameplay, and god awful multiverse story with muh reddit politics to boot. Sicking the goon squad to harass players then who call this game what it is: Mediocre. I can't in good faith say the game is trash. It's fully functional, has a decent playtime, and has nice art design. But for Bioshock and compared to some of the other FPS greats? Disappointing gameplay, two weapon limit and linear levels with unrefined arenas felt like a betrayal of the series. I'm guessing Judas will be more of the cakeless frosting Infinite was, though Levine may lack the shekels this time around to launch a media attack on anyone who doesn't worship his game. We'll see. Also the World Fair Architecture moment was an unexpected surprise, it's one of the strangest things in American history. Should never have been destroyed. Overall a very based review.

Excellent technique for finding the focus height (assuming the height is actually consistent across the whole bed). I'm going to try that method to confirm the results I already got using the height-adjustable trays. Regarding fluid scanning, I've been scanning 70-90 year old 120 film using the V850, Epson fluid mounting tray, Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits - I don't know anybody using water) and Dura-Lar mylar. With fluid scanning I'm seeing a slight increase in resolution and a bit more obvious increase in contrast, which by themselves would not be worth the effort of fluid scanning. However, I'm also seeing an astonishing reduction in fine scratches, making the effort totally worth it, because that 120 film was not well-cared for. On the other hand, I don't anticipate using fluid on other 60-year old 127 sized film, which was well cared for - unless I have trouble finding a 127 sized film holder, which might again make fluid scanning the best option.

It still has a fun gameplay loop, but it could've been so much more

I bought a friend's Negative supply setup recently - the older copy stand and 3d printed holders. Since using a digital camera with a macro lens I've not taken the dust cover off my Epson v800. It's this infuriating line of thinking and obsessing over getting perfect scans from a flatbed that made me hate using mine so much that I just stopped scanning period. I'll use the Epson when I do 4x5 but for 135 and 120 film I'm digital camera scanning and never looking back!

So there are a number of plot-holes in this game, however I'm only going to focus on 1. So in the Timeline where the Vox Pupuly got there weapons, the Elizabeth from that timeline got moved from Monument Island to Comstock House, resulting in Booker being forced to join the Vox in order to break into Comstock House and rescue her, but died in battle before he could reach her. However, when the Booker and Elizabeth we follow enter the timeline where the Vox Pupuly got there weapons the Elizabeth from THAT timeline is no where to be found. After Fitroy dies the game just forgets that our heroes were universe hopping as evidence by Comstock not acknowliging that he's now dealing with 2 Elizabeths, for example. When I made this comment on a different video someone tried to claim that the universes that our heroes were hopping through were starting to merge back into 1 universe, however there is nothing in this game that supports that claim, rendering the game invalid. And you know what would have been really cool; having Songbird be the penultimate boss and a fully brainwashed and fully juiced up Elizabeth be the final boss. Alternitively, we could just not have our heroes hopp universes and instead have them teleport the weapons to Fitzroy. Fitzroy would then double cross our heroes and that would result in them needing to fing a completely different airship to leave the city.
