I'm 71 and was diagnosed a year ago. I'm doing AS with Gleason 7 (3+4) in 2 cores. Urologist recommended treatment but said AS would be OK if I committed to regular testing. PSA in April was 5.8. Getting an MRI on Monday.

@jimh3595 Way to be active! I pretty much had the same, but due to my family history of my dad and 2 uncles having PC, it was best to get rid of it. The pathology ended up being a 9, and so it was the right choice. 3.5 weeks and back at work . Good luck on your journey and please keep us updated.

When I was treated in Hampton Va. I needed a hotel. I lived 100 miles from the place. I think it was a COUNTRY INN I used. They bent over backwards to help me. Rented a room 4 days a week and home each weekend. They took a lot of the burden from me and were cheaper for me than any of the"deals" others offered. Catching up on your journey.🦇

Keep my story short. Developed cancer in 2017 and took proton therapy at Hampton University in Hampton Va. After the 90 day treatment I mentioned to a fellow" class mate", saying Man I am glad we killed that! He replied, You do not kill it, you control it. In 2024 It appears to have returned a/c to Pet and PSA. Looks like they want me to talk to DR. FREEZE. At 83 do not know what if anything I will do. Stay close to Jesus and pray.Young men: Keep a check on PSA. Use a urologist. If doc puts down PSA, get another doc.🦇

Hope your progressing well. I had surgery 7/9/24. Im 7 days into recovery at home. The toughest part so far was trying to get out all the air/gas they put in for surgery. I was cramping very bad but when I started releasing it the pain subsided, I was still getting sharp pain cramps, but thats because I hadnt had a bowel movement. I have to wear the catherder for 15 days which sucks, Im anxious to get this thing out and hope I dont have to deal to much with incontinence. Hope you recover well, Lets continue to Push Forward 💪.

Good luck, Joe. I just got a routine blood test (yearly physical) and I'm 72. I read the results online and everything was pretty normal (cholesterol a little high) but my PSA had jumped. In February of 2023 my PSA was about 2.59 and in about 16 months it is now 4.5. My doc's office called and the gal said he wanted me to come in to "go over my test results". Well, he's never called like that before so I am presuming it's about the PSA. I think I have an enlarged prostate so I am hoping that's what's going on but I suspect I will be getting some tests. Anyway, thanks for the video and - again - good luck with this thing.

My Urologist said if the secretary calls it is good news, if he calls it is bad news. 3 days later the urologist calls. Last year my PSA was 5.79, my P.A. didn't say a thing so I thought "everything is good so I don't have to worry about prostate cancer. This A year later I made sure to have my check up with a D.O. instead of a P.A. and my PSA was 5.2. Had the PSA redone at a different hospital and the PSA was 4.7. Urologist had an MRI done and he used it to guide for the biopsy. My Urologist said if the secretary calls it is good news, if he calls it is bad news. 3 days later the urologist calls. Biopsy results were Gleason score of 4+3=7 and 4+4=8. Had slides to a different lab and they came back 4+4+8 and 4+5=9. I'm pretty pissed off at that P.A. guy. Lesson learned you have to make sure a PSA is included with the yearly blood test (there is a 3 year gape in my PSA results before the one done 2 years ago. Lesson 2 you have to look at the results yourself and can't depend on doctors of P.A.'s to say anything.

I went to my doctor because I had a hernia, while I was there I enquired about a PSA test. I had no problems at all with my waterworks but he agreed and said if you don’t hear from me everything’s fine. A week after my test he phoned and told me my PSA is 10.7 and arranged for the urology team to take over. One week later an MRI scan. A week after that a consultation with the urologist then the biopsy then the confirmation that I was Gleason 7, 4+3. I’ve opted for ADT plus radiation. Fortunately my cancer is ‘organ confined’ so I’m told it can be cured. I’m 73 and start my radiation in 8 weeks. Wish me luck. ( still have the hernia ) Incidentally, after I was diagnosed I asked the urologist should I not have asked for the PSA test and just carried on with my life because of my age, he said I definitely did the right thing. He said if I’d come to him two years later it would have been a different story.

Joe. Glad your surgery went well. Heads up for a complication I had after my prostatectomy. Rare occurrence but surgical clips are left inside patients. I do not remember that disclosure prior to my operation. About 10 weeks after my surgery, I started to feel sick. Thought I had the flu. I spent a week in bed then finally went in to the ER. They discovered an infected lymphocele. I then spent four days in the hospital recovering, and had another drain put in to release the lymphatic fluid. The infectious disease doctor that treated me surmised that the only thing he could think of that would've caused the infection was one of the surgical clips had bacteria on it. It set my recovery back by a good 6-8 weeks.

Hi Joe, I live in South Africa. The sun is always shining here and there is always the risk of developing skin cancer if you have a light skin. I developed a growth on the lower eye lid of my right eye. I do not know if it is cancer or just a benign growth but I went on a high nutrition diet for about two months and the growth have shrunk noticeably. I would like to share the diet with you. The soup Ingredients: - two handfuls of Chopped broccoli, one chopped onion (purple), two bags of green tea, two pinches of mixed herbs, two sticks of cut celery, Two handfuls of frozen and crushed spinach or kale, half a table spoon of crushed garlic, Three shakes of black pepper, seven shakes of turmeric, two tablespoons full of apple cider vinegar (with the mother), one bag of white onion powder soup for flavour, a hand full of cooked red speckled beans and a handful of cooked mince meat. Just add all the ingredients in a pot, add boiling water and switch the stove on high till the water boils. Then lower the heat until the water simmer, Let the soup simmer for an hour. The soup is now ready. I would only drink water in the morning. At 12h00 I would start eating the soup. There will be about two helpings that you can eat in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. I also ate a fruit salad every day in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. (Note: Apparently turmeric reduces the effect of some chemotherapy drugs and thus should not be taken during chemotherapy.) During the rest of the week I would also eat food that contains vitamin D like avocado’s, mushrooms, liver and eggs in the 12h00 to 18h00 time frame. It seems to be working for me, maybe it will also work for you. I pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ that you will be healed. Amen. So glad you are recovering at home! You will feel so much better once the catheter is out and you are wearing pants! Keeping you in my positive thoughts and prayers!❤️🙏

The catheter was the worst part for me too. I had my gallbladder out and hernia surgery prior. My stomach looks like I was in a knife fight with an octopus

Great news. I think I am heading down the same path Joe. PSA 6 and one lesion detected after MRI. Take care of yourself! Tell Beth she is a hero!!

Keep us informed on your journey and if you have any questions let me know. Next is biopsy?

@@joec42064 Yes! Tried to schedule it but Dr. wants to see me for a follow up first. According to radiologist everything is 7 x 4mm and inside my prostate. I would think a Gleason score is needed to determine a course of treatment. I would love to speak with you in the future as I watched your Dr. and that is why I chose MRI before biopsy. Next appt. is July 11th. Get well and I hope we can speak sometime in the future.

I retired from Chicago to Thailand. The MRI here that discovered the lesion in my prostate cost $450.00! My BCBS Global is arguing about payment!! I can't continue treatment until I know it will be covered. Probably, if they wait long enough, I will die, and they are off the hook!
