With some furlough time on my hands thought I’d have a go at putting a YT video together as I’ve found that since starting out these types of videos and been very helpful and it’s great watching the takes and how people catch trout. I also wanted to cover various set ups and tactics that you can use and thankfully managed some success on all of them for some decent content👍

    Hi ,great vid. I tried loynton end of august and never had a bite. Not many people there,but those that where didn’t have much luck , I will have to try it again. In your videos can you let us know what flies and methods you are using mate. Also has your tackle box got a seat, and if so what make is it and where can I get one from. Looking forward to more vids, tight lines.

    Enjoyed the video mate 👍 i dont live far from Loynton but have never fished there .... done Ellerdine a few times but tend to go to Hurst farm now as its only a five minute drive from home, theres only one pool but a good days fishing can be had, think i need to give Loynton a try now though 😉

      Loynton can be hard work at times (like most venues) but nice venue and on site cafe for a bit of brekkie if you choose as well 👍🏻👍🏻 well worth a day there 👍🏻

    Nice videos, can't beat a bit of father son rivalry 🎣 Just one point though, when you're planning on releasing the fish, keep them in the water. Taking them out of the water reduces the chances of them surviving. Most fisheries have this as a rule.

    • @fordysfishing1976
      @fordysfishing1976 2 роки тому

      Cheers John...its not a rule at the fishery. unfortunately I have very bad knees and cant crouch/kneel down to get to them in the water (getting as bad as the old man!!)... that said, I still do my best to minimise the amount of time they are out the water, keep them in the net and dont handle them (or if I have to I wet my hands first) and make sure they are fully recovered before they swim off 👍

    I love the reality of Fordy's videos. There's plenty of videos out there that make it look like you can throw anything out and catch double figures every trip. Most of us struggle sometimes and ending up in trees is part of the fun!! The tips are really good because Ellerdine is always a challenge, that's why we love it.

    Another good video Richard. I think it's great to produce videos as an angler relatively new to flyfishing. I'm sure other new anglers can follow your journey and learn a lot. This time of year, if you do want to target the wiser fish on naturals it generally pays to fish them at the slightly warmer time of day. Around 1pm onward. Gold head hares ear and pheasant tail nymphs score well. Thank you again for an honest, entertaining video 👍

    Think you need a attractor fly on.....personally if I don’t see any fish topping out I wouldn’t bother with naturals.....buzzers and a blob always works for me

      When I get to the water I don’t set up any flies and leaders, look to see what the fish are doing and what they want. I don’t think it’s good thinking to assume I’m going to catch only on naturals, fish for what they want at the time….keep up the videos there getting better lol 😂

    Personally I never start with the bung if I’m early on the bank. I always start with the lures and slowly adjust to conditions.

    • @fordysfishing1976
      @fordysfishing1976 2 роки тому

      I try to vary it myself...started on the apps last and the lure before that... think the benefit to starting with the bung is if fishing the margins there's less casting and disturbance on the water so won't spook the fish close in as much?🤷🏼‍♂️
