    Why did I wait till half way through my adult life to discover natural finishes! I hope your wax experience turns out as good as mine. I did 2 coats of shellac; 2nd coat dry to touch but not cured, then wax with scotch pad, dry, buff. Treating my hands to a comfy tool handle is what gets me going, but coffee and chocolate work too!

    Thanks for the saw advise. Sorry, buy Pegas is not in the budget, maybe if scrolling becomes more of a money-maker; time will tell. I picked up a Dewalt 20" for $150 on Marketplace...CHA-CHING! Time to watch some more tips videos.

    Actually, I just Googled it. The slick sided paper that stickers come on is called "Release Liner," and it is, in fact, sold in regular sheets. Just Google "Release Liner Sheets" and you can see where to purchase them.

  • @Rick-if5zb
    @Rick-if5zb 10 днів тому

    The companies that make the labels have to buy that slick paper to put the stickers on. Why can't we, as consumers, buy that kind of paper?

    Wow, you are very talented! Love all of the art displayed in the video. I'm building a shop and so far the best thing it did was NOT buy a CNC. I went for a router setup for carving and now thinking a scroll saw. I'd love a Pegas but want to start as humble as my bank account. Of the entry level machines, what do you recommend for prosumer, entry level-Etsy? (Ornaments, prototypes, etc, and anything a 1/4" bandsaw blade struggles with) Thank you for any help you can offer.

      LOL, nevermind. I just watched a guy cut out a Tree of Life pattern on a chunk of walnut...I gotta be able to do that! I'll save for entry level pinless. If you have any links, I'd love to support your channel with my purchase.

      Thanks so much! I appreciate the watch! I totally understand a budget and went years before I finally decided to get the Pegas. My only regret was not getting it from the get go. It’s honestly so much easier and more beginner-friendly. Though I haven’t used it personally, I been told that the DeWalt is the best of the more budget friendly versions. Here’s a link to where you can find the Pegas if interested. The code WENDELLWOODWORKS will take off 5% 😊. www.bearwood.com/pegas-scroll-saw-21-inch-usa.html

    Really nice work! PLEASE do your lungs a favor. Buy an inexpensive 20" box fan and at least some inexpensive AC filters to make an air filter. Put the AC filters on the back of the fan and point the fan on your table so it blows away from you. I use one good filter against the fan and one of the cheaper ones on top of that attached with bungee cords.

    • @WendellWoodworks

      I think they just seem unnecessary on stable saws like the Pegas. Once you’re comfortable using a saw they tend to just get in the way :).

    • @WendellWoodworks
      @WendellWoodworks Місяць тому

      Generally, a lower number blade (like a #3 versus and #5) will have a higher teeth count. But more than TPI, lower numbered blades are also thinner and better for cutting thinner wood. Hope that helps!

    i worked in a warehouse for a while. There was a dollar store order that wanted like 10 cans of green. I go to the spray paint, find a box labeled "green". I opened it up and I just laughed. 24 cans of "green", all different shades, no colour or identification other than "green" wrote on each can haha. I let the supervisor know but I think the store just accepted the 10 random shades of green.

    • @WendellWoodworks
      @WendellWoodworks Місяць тому

      Hi, Cheri! I haven’t had experience with the Dewalt myself. From what Ive heard, it’s not the quality or ease of use as the Pegas, but still good for a lower-budget saw. Bear Woods also offers Pegas chuckheads that can be installed on DeWalts to elevate it, so not a bad option! :). I’ve never regretted my Pegas for a moment though!

      @@WendellWoodworks Thank you! I enjoy learning from your videos. I’ll order some card stock. I’m assuming you have a color inkjet printer tho. I’m all laser black here! Hmmm. I’ll do some searches for those boxes on AMZ, too. Are you 100 percent Pegas geometric blades or do use #5 Flying Dutchman reverse blades, too? Sponsorships aside, do you have personal preferences where a non-Pegas blade has a place in your arsenal?

    • @WendellWoodworks
      @WendellWoodworks 2 місяці тому

      @@donaldjclaxton I do have a color inkjet :). I’ll use whatever blades are available, but I truly do love the Pegas the best. I’ll use the other brands when I run out of those sometimes but I feel like they burn out faster. The only times I opt for a different kind of blade is for really thick materials where I feel like a super skip is needed instead of the modified geometry. Just my opinion :).

    Don't worry about the blade. Focus on control of the piece and you can use any blade mentioned. If you can't get into the zen of scroll sawing it might not be the craft for you. Reverse blades for straight cuts and spiral blades for curvy cuts. That's all you need to know. Again it's all about control. You can ride a line with a spiral blade if you concentrate on it.
