I've been making quilts for friends, family, and clients for several years and I decided to make this my full time job! I've made all kinds of quilts including but not limited to t-shirt quilts, memory quilts, and military retirement quilts. While I enjoy making quilts I wanted to be able to help quilters out there by showing how I do what I do. So I decided to start my own quilting youtube channel. I hope you enjoy and feel free to ask me questions!

How to Make a Collage Style T-Shirt Quilt
I love this table runner, I'm going to try and make one too.
You totally should! It's an easy make and depending on how large you make it, you should be able to knock it out in one day! Thanks for watching!
Your tutorial was awesome. You explain everything so that we all understand and can follow. Well done. There is so much work that goes in to making a T-shirt quilt far more than I thought really. That being said, a friend has asked me to make a T-shirt quilt. How much should I tell her it's going to cost? Hope you don't mind me asking this? Thanks again I do believe I am ready to start my T-shirt quilt after watching your fantastic video.
Thank you so much! And thanks for watching! That's a tough question! I think it really comes down to your level of expertise in that the more experience you have, the more you can charge. My thought is more experience means a higher quality product (although that's not always 100%). Something else to think about is you'll be working with someone's memories (the shirts) that are almost guaranteed to be irreplaceable in the event of a mistake. While stitches can always be removed, cuts can never be undone. But if you don't do this for a living, and the person is a friend or a relative and you're not trying to make a profit per say, I would just charge for materials and a tiny bit of my time. So maybe like $150. That being said, I do this for a living so my cheapest quilt STARTS at $325 for a 44" x 44". You can see my prices here: www.segoviaquilts.com/pricing.html#/ I hope this helps a bit!
@@SegoviaQuilts Thanks so much for the reply. I sew alot and make the Memory Bears and Pillows.
Great tutorial. Thank you
Thank you very much! And thanks for watching!
How do you add the fabric in center, don't you do that first
Great question! Yes, the fabric gets added in the center prior to sewing down the curved edges. Thanks for watching!
This quilt is so pretty. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to try this.
Thank you so much! And thanks for watching!
Love this table runner!!! As the holidays come upon is it is sew refreshing to find a tutorial that is clear, pain and simple! And, oh gosh, Halloween is one of my favorite! Ordered fabric and plan to make about three of these!!🎃
Thank you sew much! And thanks for watching! It really is a simple runner to put together. And the perfect project to try some hand sewing with, if you're feeling adventurous!
Felicitaciones, lindo trabajo. Buena idea la de confeccionar las bandanas tipo bandera nacional. Me encantó. Mil gracias. Saludos desde Santiago de Chile 🇨🇱 😊
Thank you very much!
Do you bind your quilts so that you start on the back and then wrap it around to the front? If you do, how do you get it so that the blue binding thread doesn’t show on the back? Mine always seems to go off of the binding on back and onto the backing piece 😢
Great question! Yes, I add my binding to the back first, then pull around to the front. When sewing the binding down on the front, I match my top thread to the binding and my bobbin thread matches the backing fabric. When I'm sewing, I only go about 1/8" into the binding fabric on the front and my bobbin thread is ALWAYS on the backing fabric, it's NEVER on the binding on the back. I know some people try to get the bobbin stitches to be in the binding ditch on the back, but not me. I could NEVER get it right. So I just stopped trying and did what worked for me, which is to have my bobbin stitches on the backing fabric, not the binding fabric. I can do a video showing what works for me if you'd like. Just let me know! :D
@@SegoviaQuilts I would Loooovveeeee a video on this but please only do it if you have time and when you are bored. I am in no rush. I never even thought to use two different colored threads 🤦🏻♀️
I have had a picture of this pattern saved in my camera forever!!! I’m so glad you made it, this motivates me to finally buy it😂
It's a fabulous quilt pattern! And it goes together so quickly you could knock out the top in one day in just a few hours. Buy it and get sewing! Hehehe!
A great job and pretty. Greetings from Spain!
Thank you! 😊 And thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for showing us things it’s the first video I’ve seen with quilting on a standard machine and not one with a huge throat. I’m just starting on my first quilt and don’t want to spend a fortune on a new machine or having it professionally quilted. Thank you so much.
You are so very welcome! I know it can be a bit daunting to try to quilt a larger quilt on a smaller domestic machine. But it can be done! Thank you for watching!! And good luck on your quilting project. I'm sure it'll come out amazing!
I love it!
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
I have a Brother's LX3125 and I am n mew. What foot do I need to quilt?
Great question! I looked at the manual for your machine and it looks like you're able to do it with out a foot entirely! This is honestly very surprising to me but if you look at page 35 of your manual, it talks about monogramming and embroidery. For embroidery, it says to install the Darning Plate and then remove the presser foot and the presser foot assembly. Then you just get to sewing. Of course for the embroidery, they are using a hoop and wouldn't need that for quilting. You can try doing some test quilting this way and see how it works out. You can also try this three pack of feet I found on Amazon: amzn.to/4cXyhcj These are low shank feet, which is what your machine is. I'm not 100% sure these will fit your machine as these are universal low shank feet. Worst case, they don't fit and you can send them back. If these feet do fit, you'll still need to put the Darning Plate on as there doesn't seem to be an option to lower your feed dogs. Let me know if all this makes sense of if you have any questions!
Great video! Very helpful to see your layout process. Thanks for the video!
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
change the photo from color to black and white….it will really help see the movement of the pattern.
I've seen this recommended before and haven't been able to find filters on my phone. Until yesterday! I found the black and white filter and tried it with a new quilt, and it's great! Wish I had found it sooner!
Lovely pattern. The fabric is nice, especially for grandsons! Happy sewing.
It really is! Thanks for watching!
hello i have a question . on backstitch , can y just backstitch and not go forward?? thks super nice tshirt blanket!!
If I'm understanding your question correctly, you're asking if after finishing sewing a seam, if you can just go back a few stitches and that's the end, instead of finishing a seam, going back a few stitches and then finishing the seam again essentially? If so, then yes! You can finish a seam and go back a few stitches and then be done. There is no need or requirement to finish, backstitch, and finish again. Great question! 😀
I want to try hand stitching! What type / size / weight thread did you use here? Thanks! Julie
You totally should! Try everything at least once is what I say. So for this project, I just used what I already had on hand which was a package of 6 colors or Pearl (Perle) Cotton thread. I don't even remember when or where I got this package from! The package didn't list a thread weight but from Googling, pearl cotton comes in four weights, #3, #5, #8 & #12. The most common size is #8. So while I'm not 100%, I'm thinking it's an #8.
This style reminds me of the tshirt quilt tutorial you did. It’s as if we are in the same room sewing together. 👍🏻
That's great! I'm so glad you like it! I'll be doing more this way for sure. I feel like it's easier and everyone can see the good, what I'm working on, and the bad, the mess from said work! Hahaha! Thank you for watching!
This was so helpful! I've had this problem before and wish I knew this trick. Do you do something similar if you end up running out of space at the highest point in the pantograph (as opposed to the lowest point as described in the video)?
I'm glad you found this helpful! Yes, exactly the same thing can be done if you run out of space at the top or highest point. So long as you have space in the machine throat, you can use this technique to adjust your panto in either direction. 😃
hello i have a question on stabilizer so as to not be wasteful why cant i cut 16x16 on some or 12x12 for example instead of covering all of tshirt.?? just a thought. your quilt came out awesome!!! i would like to make one im a beginner i know it will b a challege.
That's a great question! And you can totally do that! You can cut your interfacing square and put it on the shirt either before you cut out the block or afterward. I don't do it that way because trying to line up the interfacing square with the square I'm going to cut seems like a chore and also applying it all over saves me time because it's faster and I use left overs from the shirt to fill in empty spots in my layout. You can totally do it! Do a tester quilt first. Get shirts from Goodwill or yard sales and make a whole quilt from start to finish. By the time you finish, you will have the kinks worked out, and you'll be more confident. And if you do mess something up, the shirts were tester shirts, not precious memories. A win-win!
I may be missing it but how much yardage of the 8 fabrics is needed?
Great question! So I ordered 1/2 yard of each of the eight fabrics. This left me with about 5" x WOF left over from each of the eight fabrics. You can get 6 of the 6.5"x6.5" blocks from one fat quarter. So, if you ordered the fat quarter bundle of this collection, you would be able to get 108 of the 6.5"x6.5" blocks and you would have 18 strips measuring about 5"x22" left over (one for each fat quarter). If you wanted to try to use up more of the fabric and have less left over, you could shrink the blocks down to make them 5.5"x5.5" (your white strips would then need to shrink down to 2.5"x5.5"). Then you could get 12 5.5"x5.5" blocks from each fat quarter and you would only have a strip of about 1.5"x22" from each fat quarter.
@@SegoviaQuiltsthank you so much!!! Love this quilt!!! Thanks for sharing.

Just watched your tutorial Carol, you are such a good teacher, you explain everything so clearly. I have just started making my very first keepsake baby quilt using my granddaughters first clothes, so your tutorial gave me a few ideas so thank you very much for sharing your skills.
Thank you very much! And thank you for watching! Oh, that's wonderful! I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job! 😊
This is a beautiful quilt design! Thank you for showing us how to put it together, especially with easy-to-follow directions. I can’t wait to begin making one (it will look so nice on the bed in the guest room, especially in these colors). Thank you again!
Thank you very much! And thanks for watching! It's a neat design in that it can look complicated, because of the staggered rows, but it's super easy to put together! And it really comes together quickly. Have fun making it! If I can answer any questions, or if you every need a longarmer, I'll be here! 😄
I really enjoyed this tutorial apart from the camera angle which shows everything on a ‘curve’. Having a balance problem this really didn’t help when watching.
Thank you for watching! I'm so sorry about the curve. I use a wide angle lens to film from above and yes, it gives it that fish eye look. :( I'm looking for new lens that will film wide but without the curve. Fingers crossed I find something!
I love Halloween and I'm always looking for projects. What a great pattern to practice your hand/big stitch quilting on. Thank you!
You're so right! It was a small enough project that if the hand stitching wasn't my thing, no problem because there wasn't much to quilt! Hehe! Thanks for watching!
I love tis quilt. I'm a Floridian also and I've always LOVED sea glass colors. Beautiful fabrics and you make it look totally doable. Thank you!
Thank you! And thanks for watching! It really is super easy to make and if you have 2 or 3 hours, you can knock out the top in no time! And that includes the time to cut the fabric strips. Using the strip piecing makes it go so fast!
Loveeeee hand quilting ❤
I luv hand quilting VS machine quilting. But I don’t do the tiny stitches either I just stitch 😂
I can see how that would be much easier than worrying about stitch size! I might have to try that my next time hand stitching.
Gorgeous quilt🥰
It really is! My client made two of these, one for each of her daughters. She quilting pattern she picked was so cute! It's called Cupid from Urban Elementz.
I loved your video. I need to replace this also! I have the same machine! I called grace and the guy I talked to said there is only one board and they don’t sell them to people, I have to send in my machine! You have 2 green boards! I don’t know what to do!

What!? That's not right. I'm not sure who you spoke with but try calling back and ask to speak with Glen Nelson. He is who I worked with from Support. I gave him my machine serial number and he told me which two boards I needed to replace. One was the Main Controller Board and the other was the Motor Drive Board Assembly. He also emailed me a PDF with directions on how to replace the boards. If they still tell you no, send me an email to SegoviaQuilts@gmail.com and let me know. If I don't hear from you, I'll assume everything was taken care of. :)

Carol, Thank you SO much for your tutorial videos! When my daughter and son-in-law moved to Europe, they were limited in what they could take. They asked me to make them each a t-shirt quilt out of their collection of sentimental t-shirts they had kept from childhood, college, sports teams, etc. I had only basic sewing knowledge and a very old and basic sewing machine. I found your video, watched it all the way through, took notes, and referred back to it multiple times. It took me a year to make both quilts but I did it! I also got myself a nice new sewing machine in the process. I had documented my progress and made each of them a little booklet of how their quilt was made. I also made them each a storage bag. They both love their quilts! Your video gave me the confidence to tackle something I didn't think I could do. You are such a wonderful teacher! My next quilt will be one for my husband who is a huge UGA football fan. Peggy D.
Oh my gosh Peggy, that's so awesome!! I'm so glad I was able to help you make these wonderful gifts for your family! :D And making the booklet for how their quilt was made is such a great idea! I might have to add that for my client quilts! I'm sure they will love and treasure their quilts forever! I'm sure you're a pro at them now. Usually by the end of the first quilt everyone has a good rhythm and flow going. If I can help with any future projects, or if you ever need a longarmer, I'll be here! ;)

Finally! A modified Cathedral Window project that looks modern and fun. I'm late to the party on finding your video but thankyou so much for making it. Looking forward to sewing this and watching more of your tutorials.
Well I'm glad you found my video! Better late than never. Thank you for watching!
Waiting on my new Juki TL2010Q - your video is so appreciated - cannot wait to quilt on a great machine. Thank you for the demonstration!!!
You are so welcome! And thank you for watching! I love this machine and while don't use it anymore (due to getting another machine with its' own table) I still have this one ready to go if I ever need a backup!
That’s it I’m buying me a juki!! Thank you for being brave enough to post this video. I feel the same way when I try to free motion quilt but the only way to get better is to keep doing it!
Hahaha, it's a great machine! Oh yes, sewing comes with the good, the bad, and the ugly! We learn from each other and it's good to show everyone that no one is perfect and we all started somewhere! Haha! Thanks for watching!
It looks there's a lot of waste around the edges. I would have placed it 2 inches away from top and out edge to save fabric.
While I did cut off a lot of fabric from the edges, I assure you, nothing goes to waste over here! If a client provides the backing fabric, they get all of it back. And if I provide the backing fabric, I keep all the scraps and eventually make a scrap quilt! Those are so fun to make!
I love it!
Your tool is called a tracing wheel, usually paired with carbon paper
Thank you! The name completely left my mind when filming this. Haha!
Beautiful 👍👍👍
OMG ❤ beautiful . I want 5 for 2 male and 3 female Minature Schnuazers. Meduim size please let me know price
Thank you! Oh wonderful! Well there's a discount for ordering several at a time so yey for that! Send me an email to segoviaquilts@gmail.com with more details on what you would like as there's an additional cost if you want them customized with names. 😊
Love it! Beautiful job. 👍Just what I was looking for.... ❤️
Thank you! And thanks for watching! You can also use a basting spray instead of the heat n bond if you want something a bit less permanent. 😉
Great Job! I'm having the same problem with my 15R. Always easier to do the repair with more confidence when you find someone who has the similar issue and got the fix to take care of it! Where did you end up getting the computer boards from and how much were they? Way to go!!! Thank you!
Thank you! And thanks for watching. Oh, I totally know what you mean. I'm a visual learner myself. I bought the boards directly from Grace. I didn't even look anywhere else. I figured with something this expensive and important, I wasn't going to be cheap. Lol! I don't remember what I paid exactly, but I do know it was a few hundred for the two boards. 😕.
