Probably going to attempt this on a DC791 and DC796 because me and my coworker are having stripped gear issues, took it to a shop for a replacement trans and it cost 80 bucks, I figure a repair would be more cost effective. Thanks for the help!

The index sleeve is so fragile I can't imagine what they were thinking when they built it as there is only a sliver of plastic holding the segments together. When I took my camera apart, this was broken in two places. I really took care of my camera.

To disassemble a2200 you have to remove one only rear screw, do not remove the central 4 ccd screws. then unfasten the plastic clips near the motor, releasing a cover of the gear box, then the remaining plastic clips that retain the base of the rounded lens covers that come apart. It is necessary although to unsolder the focus thin ribbon, attached by 4 solder points through a hole in the plastic cover, then the lens come off. Thanks for the video! Beware to mark with a pen the alignment of the lens covers, it took me 8 hours to figure out how to assemble it back!

I replaced the plastic pin with a metal one made of metal music wire, drilled a hole where the plastic pin used to protrude... but I may have damaged that small gray gear, I am hoping it still works. I am reassembling right now and I'm a bit stuck on how to reattach the ribbon cables... was hoping you had a video on that, because I did not take disassembly pictures. Thanks for the informative videos!
