Manchester City, retro behind the scenes
Maine Road nostalgia for Manchester City fans - from nearly 40 years ago. A time when the club produced a raft of talented youngsters as they plotted a course back to the big time. One of a series of behind-the-scenes videos I presented for Televideo.

Boothferry Park nostalgia from way back in 1987 as I go behind the scenes at Hull City. Back then the Tigers had never been in the top flight but were trying to launch a push under Brian Horton and a popular chairman in Don Robinson.

Back when I was Alan Partridge before he was invented, Televideo sent me to Hillsborough to interview all & sundry. This was the 1986-87 season amid a memorable era for Sheffield Wednesday under Howard Wilkinson. If you can put up with the presenter there might be something to enjoy here! Whether you were there or not!

I’m a lifelong Watford fan and to be honest he has a horrid time with us and the fans got on his back, but l was gutted when he left because l was and still am a massive fan of Dave Bassett..l always felt that had we kept him at Watford I’m convinced he would have got us straight back to the top tier..His story is exceptional, as a player he played at Hayes and Walton & Hersham but became a top manager mixing it in the top flight..A real footballing man and a top manager..
He was referee on itvs game show freeze out in 2015
Hey Chris top man
Legend in Greece. RIP Best Human Soul
rip george
i think that 90% of folks don't realise how great peter elliott was...treated by the press as the forgotten man....didn't have the backing of the big 3.....what a record he had
Absolute legend. God bless him. Uriah Rennie!
regi blinker
Great times. So nearly a double under Billy Bremner that season.
A legend along with all the others from the 70s
I met Peter Elliott in Leeds in 1998 and he was an absolute gentleman.
Crikey the atmosphere so much better then the kop gull of passion. n not blue empty seats which sadly is like that today, play off matches apart which are amazing generally, but league games dead
Amazing video how many of these did you do ? there quite rare but good , n not so well known which gives it that unique quality, yes 87 88 ish all pretty new but not totally, I remember City 1980? Little bit of a fly on wall, few others documentary
Superb. Thankyou for this presentation. Peter. What an amazing athlete. And a real gentleman.
Is John helm still alive
Peter is a legend. Thank you for all the exciting races!! A gentleman
WOW ,I'm the mascot on this video, Remember the day well, just like yesterday
AP stole his entire act from you Alan......
Great documentary Alan and remembering the old times. Regards, Bernard from Birmingham. Just getting ready to watch Birmingham city v Blackburn tonight.
Nice one Alen , what an interesting Documentary, and how young you look, Charles Hudson 👍
giddings is a hypocrite, he turns off people on the radio, when they dont agree with him, he come across like a smarmy representative, that nobody likes. many fans i know dont like him.
Thanks for this, Alan. This was the first season I ever went to games at Elland Road and it brought back a lot of memories. This was the so close yet so far season for us!
Done a plumbing job round daves house not to long ago and what a nice bloke he is
4 years after this vid the lads produced a magnificent performance winning the rumbelows cup at wembley beating man u. to add at least some silverware to that trophy room.
Two cool kits...umbro was the absolute business back in the day 👌
West brom hero ❤
That was great to see. Good times

Brilliant footage, takes me back to when we had a tour of the ground and the famous trophy cabinet in the late 80's. Brian Marwood was my avourite player at that time🦉💙
I's still got the jacket somewhere very 80's😂
coool
I found the VHS in my loft the other day 😂
great guy..
The worst I've ever seen my team (Nottingham Forest) ever play was under his management. It was a distastrous time.
This is a great interview. Maybe you could add hashtags and a jazzier title to increase viewers.
Brother played for him. He’s a joke of a human. He could fall out of a cup of tea. Respect he was a decent pro years ago, but f88k off Meggo
Richie the blade played for wednesday
Iconoclast
Legend thank you Gary.... He's our baggie boy
My uncle ted🎉
❤
One of the best goals I have seen scored by a SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY FC LEGEND,April 1980 at the lane Terry Curran scored The Goal I will never forget 👍💙🦉🤜🤛
Legend he is
@@superowlsforlife You going to THE MASSIVE today mate 👍 🦉🔥🔥
@@barryanthonywing4848 nope going to a real fixture
The best referee.
As a Barnsley fan, i just want to thank Hecky for all he did for Barnsley FC as both a player and as a head coach. He's Barnsley through and through. He obviously could see where the PMG were heading and quite rightly left. I don’t blame him one bit. He gave everything and more whilst at Oakwell and I'm really happy for him that he's gone on to have success at Bramall Lane. The Blades have, in Hecky, a manager that will continue to be successful in my opinion.
Legend. From the same village as Jimmy Greaves, by the sounds of it!

Lets be honest Tony Currie is streets ahead of this lot.
Mr Biggs .............good Show Thank U
T. C. why dont U sit Up ,,,,,,,,,,come on
Tony Currie can sit how he likes. Watching Leeds United in 1978 he was magnificent. So go and do one you ' Numpty '.
@@ga-ow7yf Yep, no-one has the right to criticise TC's seating position. Besides, he's 312 years old, give him a break. Top bloke.
Always remember his goal v Leicester at Hillsborough, quality goal.
I served him at work, pretended I didn't know him. Lovely man.
When he says Wednesday get bigger gates than other premier clubs that sent time in league 1or division 3 .what about man city .or Leeds or Sunderland. lets be honest Wednesday aren't even top this season .and this is their best ever in the 3rd level. Ipswich 1500 more Derby 2000 more.i wish you would stop over playing the size of Wednesday.
What he actually said was he doesn't know if they (Massive clubs} would still do as well as the Wednesday supporters in what was the old third division...he didn't name City, Leeds or Sunderland...Wednesday fans have suffered in terms of team performance for many years yet the support stays strong, I don't think Megson was comparing Wednesday to the really big clubs in size, more to do with how our fans have stuck by the team through really tough times & they have.
@@slayed5174 he talks bollocks that guy don't listen to him
Sir Gary Megson. WBA fc 2000 to 2004.
83 World and 88 Olympics he was 4th in the 800m, it was a cruel reward for two excellent races. Just hard luck
