Leo’s Genetic Results Update: PMM2-CDG
Quick update with Leo’s Genetic Results.
Leo recently received an official diagnosis called PMM2-CDG. It is a super rare autosomal recessive disorder which is the reason for his Cerebellar Hypoplasia and ataxic cerebral palsy.
We are doing well and Leo is amazing. Hoping to share more about this diagnosis in the future.

Nursing Student Goes Skiing in Thredbo, Aus

The stars aligned and I had 4 days off from work in a row. I've been really busy working during my uni break so it was great to get away for a few days to relax and have fun. Disclaimer: Thredbo resort has a COVID19 management plan in place, with limited numbers of lift passes being sold and changes such as limiting numbers of guests on lifts and in restaurants. While I was there to have a good...

Week in the Life of a Nursing Student
Pure little one, I was born with mild spastic cerebral palsy, I had difficulty swallowing food, and lived on fried or boiled eggs. It was difficult for us as a family to go out to dinner. I was brought up to mask.
Hi I’m an coming nursing student at usyd, just wondering if they have uniform samples that I can try before ordering? I am usually petit and I’m scared that I might buy a bigger size as nursing uniforms are usually bigger to allow movement. Also, what’s your size if you don’t mind 😭. Should I size down?
Did they say a stroke could cause cerebellum hypoplysia? Xx
Great video thank you Jane. I am a first year nursing student going into my first placement soon I have heard that working as an undergrad AIN means that you have no fixed schedule. Other students told me that you are basically "on call", meaning that you will be called whenever needed. is this true?
Thank you for sharing this video. My son 20 months now has Pontocerebellar hypoplasia type 9 (PCH9) and I see all those things in him that you shared in your video. And like you said, everything in MRI and scans came up normal but the signs getting worse. He just started sitting by himself and crawling a little bit, also he can stand by holding onto something (wall or door or something). You didn't mention anything about touch sense, because my son doesn't let anyone touch him, like we would be trying to help him and yet he would refuse to take that help. He doesn't speak much, and he has a problem with loud noises, like horns or other kids speaking loudly. I am also going to share a video of my son and the problems he faces, may be someone could help. Doctors say that there is no known cure for it, because it's so rare. But I cannot sit and watch him being miserable among other kids. Love from Pakistan!
Sad to read it brother. Hope he will be better in coming days.
❤️
Could you share your experience with the AIN interview stage and have any tips on how to prepare for it?
🌟 Thanks for sharing your story
Hello, I don’t usually leave comments. I’m 29 and have ataxic and spastic cerebral palsy. I use a manual wheel chair and go to physical therapy. I wasn’t diagnosed for some time. I just wanted to give you hope and let you know Leo will be ok and have a happy life. Everyone’s case is different. I was so spastic I was born cross eyed. After a failed strabismus surgery I now have a lazy eye. I use my right eye predominantly. I have issues with depth perception but it is wonderful you have early intervention. A lot of people with cerebral palsy do well but it can be traumatic to find out. I want to let you know you’re doing everything he would need to succeed. I don’t know if he has spasticity but baclofen Has been incredible for me. I wish you all the best. Reach out with any questions
Thanks for the sharing ❤
So good to hear that you had some intelligent drs pick it up early to help you get the right therapies for Leo. You’re all doing amazing. We’ve found DMI therapy very helpful for motor development.
Thank you ☺️ Leo has been lucky to have such a supportive team. We have tried DMI therapy during a couple of intensives which Leo didn’t like but helped a lot. Thinking about doing weekly sessions with him as well
@@roannajane2759 my daughter has a small cerebellum but we are still doing genetic testing to find out why. She’s three and just started walking after a few weeks of consistent DMI. Lots of cartoons in the sessions definitely helped her get through it :)
Thanks for sharing this update, it's helped me understand Leo's diagnosis. Good luck with all the specialists, we'll be thinking of you.
As a mother myself. I can imagine how traumatic this discovery can be finding out your child could have a profound disability. And as a person who has worked with children who have disabilities, I would like to say that yes, it's going to be a difficult journey, there are lots of parents with children who have disabilities. You'll have an amazing and supportive community behind you. Early Intervention is a hugely positive thing to look into. The SPED departments in day care and preschools are really good advocates and of course the rest of Leo's care team can help him lead a life that he is capable of. 15% of the world has some form of disability. And we will happily accept Leo into our community. Love from an Autistic Mum
Thank you ☺️ 💕
💫
⭐️Thanks for sharing Roanna. Ben and you should be really proud of yourselves. You have done an amazing job and definitely Leo couldn’t be in better hands.
Thanks so much! 😊
🌟 Thank you for sharing! I followed you back in the day for nursing but learning about this has been equally interesting! so thank you! Clearly Leo has the best parents ever doing the best job! x
Thank you ☺️ x
🌟 This video deserves more than one star! What a journey you've been on!! And you've shared it so well on this video (I love all the clips!). Leo will be so proud of his parents and their hard work to ensure he has the best start possible. I can't imagine the grief of hearing the news of such a diagnosis, but I am in awe of how well you've turned the grief into fuel to get the best supports for Leo. He's in great hands with you and Ben 💙

Hi Roanna, do you think you'd be able to help me with the revision timetable ? I have been using the one you linked in the description for a couple of months; I have suddenly lost permission and it says 'Access denied'. Additionally, I cannot find my google sheet anywhere and most of it was in spanish for some reason ? Any help would be much appreciated.
Are AIN's aloud to perform ECG's or bladder scans? What about altering oxygen levels with the witness of a nurse. Also, can AIN's take out a cannula or draw up normal saline? I've seen some do these on the floor so I'm curious about their scope or maybe they are trained to do it?
Yes Ains can perform ecgs not sure about bladder as an Ain I have done a couple ecgs
This is the video I was searching forr
I’m a nursing student in Australia. How competitive was getting into a grad program for paediatric nursing? What gave you the edge to get into that? Any tips?
Thank U for this vid❤. Its really helpful for me. I am about to start my nursing school as an int' student. Ur vids guide me through my journey. Thanks a lottt..
Thanks for this! What’s travel nursing like in Australia
An amazing vlog for me to watch before going for a new grad at Broken hill. Thanks!
Hey. May I ask how you found it. I'm also on the same path and wanted to know your experience
So helpful. I also have a BS in psychology concentration in neuroscience and now I’m in nursing school. Heavily leaning toward neuro icu in my future 😊
Thank you for telling your experience in ICU! Truly helps!
Nice video. I am a neuro icu nurse and the highest amount of pumps i have had on one patient was 13 😳. Plus an EVD, swan catheter, icp bolt, and no turn orders. it was a busy shift
Thank you for this video, this info is really helpful!
Hi, I live in Nigeria but will be relocating to Canada soon. I have a certificate as an AIN, can I find AIN jobs immediately I relocate.
do you have to be good at math to excel? did you take any mathematics units in your undergrad and/or masters?
Is it possible after nursing school to give gasmat exam and go in med school??
Thanks for sharing! I like your voice, which sounds very comfortable~
Hii!! Can i message you at some time? I just have a lot of questions ❤️ an aspiring student in usyd
What is total cost of studing EN ? Or AIN . Really interested 😊.
Hi, I may attend to the business degree (undergraduate) as an international student at the university of sydney next year. (i study ib diploma in the uk btw) I saw many negative reviews about this university for some reason even though it's well known in Australia. Some say the teaching quality is poor compared to ivy league unis or russell group unis, and others say it's too easy to get into there compared to those mentioned group unis and therefore it't not prestigious. Although the university ranking for business management at USYD is around 46 in the world. Here is the question; What's the position of the business management student at USYD in terms of the academic level? Also, what's your general view about this university? Is this university about as good as UCL or LSE or KCL... if you know? (those are the top unis in london.) Sorry for a lot of questions! Hope you see this comment!
Thanks for your video! I'm considering doing an elective placement there next year and it was nice to hear about your experience.
Hii please tell me AIN ( can I do work in hospital)
AI nurse practitioner RN RICKY
Hi! Pls do the video of pros and cons of becoming a doctor vs nursing! Thanks 😊
hi! i’m applying to sydney uni for nursing. was just wondering: did you do a bachelor of nursing? or a bachelor of science master in nursing?
I actually did a seperate bachelor of Psychological Science at UNSW and then did my Master if nursing at USYD ☺️
@@roannajane2759 hiiii, im applying for 2023 intake and already got a conditional offer. im really nervous as i want to get into this program and was wondering how was the numerical and literacy exam + interview?
Hello there, I’m in my 3rd year of Bach of nursing; just picked up a job as an AIN in hospitals. So is it just literally aged care stuff? And the scope isn’t great as far as I’ve being told? And the money is good I already have a job but is the experience really all that great that you go into different fields? I also messaged you on Insta. Great video too it was helpful
Hlo.... I am quite curious to know more about AIN from ur mouth...can we talk on insta or through any other source, Actually, i am also pursing bachelor’s of nursing from flinders. Its my 1st year and want to work as AIN.
I’m currently study Certificate 3 in Health Service Assistant, is it I need to study a different course to Become AIN or after studying this course I’m qualified to work as an AIN ? Thank you
Im doing a Cert III in Health Service Assistant, and that is the cert needed to become an AIN. I am going into a diploma after i complete this course. but it is doable if you become a AIN. the minimum requirements to become an AIN is a cert III in Health Service Assistant. I hope this helps <3
Hi dr I have a numeric and literary test before entering to Master nursing program in University of Sydney. Do you have any idea about that one? Reply highly appreciated
How do you find the time to do the placements while you’re working as an AIN? Do you have to take unpaid leave?
Well durr, u can’t work as place, ent is full time gig ud have to take study leave
Just discovered your channel and so glad I did! I’m a final-year nursing student in Vic preparing for grad interviews😅😊
