    As with any craft it's important to know when to stop. You had this nailed right up to the rust touches which came out great, very realistic; and that's where you should've stopped. I think you went overboard making it look worn and tired - why? Granted it came out pretty realistic, I just think the bottom half takes away from the over all beauty. Entombing Dylan, definitely in keeping with the highest traditions of the service.

    The completed model looks great. The only ship I ever built is the Titanic the Academy kit. Boy did I encounter problems and frustrations!! I'd love to know why some railing or safety walls were missing and railing that would not fit anywhere. That build is a mess even though completed and the rigging...Oh boy!! Better not to ad at all! I'm not in to building ships. Too much fidely tiny parts easy to lose. I build Aircraft that are also frustrating. Especially if it's got resin and photo etched. I'm just amateur modeller. Your Bismarck kit is excellent. Your work on that top marks for all that masking and weathering worked out well. I'd like to do that model but seeing all the masking I'm not so sure. I hate masking and losing patience. Great work. From Australia.👍🇭🇲✌️

    That looks like an ok kit. I have lots of Revell models som old and some new some recast of early or some new. It's a matter of price as well. You mention your blind. I'm not sure exactly what you mean but I am partly blind. I wear contact lenses and for anything like reading or doing a model is a struggle for me and challenging. I have to wear magnifying glasses also on top as I'm doing now typing this comment. I have a degenerative condition called ceratoconus. Means the cornia of my eyes have changed shape. Sorry gone of track here but I share some affliction. Unless I misunderstood what you meant your blind. If I did misunderstand then I'm a right pilick. The model looks ok as I said. I've worked with Revell models that are crisp in detail but can be a problem fitting some parts. The instructions are sometimes hard to follow also. As for the paint guide is less desirable. Mixing paint I don't care for as it shows a % of this a % of that. Go figure! This is first comment next when model is completed. I'm in Australia.👍🇭🇲✌️🙂

    I've built two Revell kits in my life. Both of them were a royal bitch to assemble. M48 Patton's hull didn't fit together right and the deck and hull of the USS Missouri didn't fit together right...I haven't had issues from any other model kit manufacturer (Tamiya, Zvezda, Aoshima) or from tabletop wargaming kits...Just Revell. Maybe I got unlucky, maybe I just happened to screw everything up twice and it just happened to be on Revell models, but I avoid their kits like the plague now.

    Does not seem accurate. As I recall it did not have a superstructure. It was removed during its first mission. Also you said the rudder was more sturdy, Bismarck and a rather weak and vulnerable rudder that got stuck the first time I was shot at.

    Save yoself some time and trouble. Instead of that famously hard to remove Tamiya Panel Liner, just use oil paint thinned with odorless spirit. So much easier to blend back. For brush painting, impossible to beat Vallejo. Thin with water 50% Best to use 2 thin coats. no brush marks ever.

    As a child in the late 70s and 80s whenever I had a choice I was a monogram kid. Always though revells just looked like shit,ie lack of accuracy and detail. That and it's like they always made the stuff that was like .....the 2nd choice. Like not a mach 1 mustang but a mustang II or a pinto. Not a tiger tank but a Sherman. Recently I noticed the old monogram kit I used to build all the time ( no lie, did no less than 15 of them, the helicopter Huey Hog) was now made by revell and I almost bought it but I didn't. I bet it's the same everything just got a new label on the box but if anyone got one lmk! Oh and silly me, great video. Entertaining and informative! Worth watching.

    The Bismarck was the most powerful Battleship when Battleships ruled the waves. Bismarck was fighting in 1941. It was Bismarck's demise in 1941 that saw the new King control the sea, The Aircraft carrier. Japan and the US learned from this and after Midway in 1942 it became clear that Aircraft carriers ruled the waves. The Iowa didn't start it's first voyage until late 1943-1944. Too late to be effective, and very much at the mercy of Aircraft carriers.

      @@dovetonsturdee7033 sorry for your lack of understanding the real World, maybe go back to playing your fantasy games. Pearl Harbour saw Aircraft carriers wipe out Battleships with ease. Battleships were nowhere near effective in WW2 as the great Battlecruisers were in WW1. Aircraft carriers have ruled the seas ever since 1941. An Aircraft carrier can attack a Battleship fleet from over 300 mile away. That is why the Yamato spent most of its time hiding but eventually succumbed to sinking by Aircraft carrier. The only benefit Battleships brought in WW2 was artillery on land bases. After 1941 nobody outside of US were really interested in making larger Battleships they were more interested in converting BS hulls into aircraft carriers.

      @@MultiVeeta Odd how you feel the need to resort to insults. My old Uni. Professor used to say that, 'when people are unsure of their arguments, they resort to insults.' You have confirmed his point' Firstly, Pearl Harbor saw aircraft sinking battleships in harbour. This had already happened at Taranto in 1940, and the British were fully aware of the possibility as early as 1917, as a torpedo bomber attack using around 100 Sopwith Cuckoos had been planned on Wilhelmshaven. Please tell me of any British, US, or axis capital ship sunk by air strikes in the west, by the way. However, if you can stretch your mind beyond the carrier actions in the Pacific, you might understand that there was much more to naval warfare in WW2 than such events. In the naval war against Germany & Italy, aircraft carriers never achieved anything like the dominance they did in the East. There, the carrier was a significant but subsidiary part of a main fleet, helping to bring about naval engagements, but not, in itself, being a major element in them. Examples being Matapan, where HMS Formidable made it possible for the three battleships of Cunningham's fleet to inflect a major defeat on the Italian navy, and Rheinubung, where HMS Ark Royal damaged Bismarck sufficiently to enable HMS King George V & HMS Rodney to dispatch her. Of course, at North Cape, carriers played no role at all. As for converting battleship hulls to carriers, the Japanese did that with Shinano and with the useless hybrids Hyuga & Ise, but only in a panic move, which achieved precisely nothing. No one else did.

      @@dovetonsturdee7033 Clearly your professor never taught you how to be respectful in social interactions as trying to delete someone's comment with a one word answer is not only arrogant and rude but extremely pretentious. But that seems to be your MO. Capital ships in the west. Like all things it is a combined offensive that wins wars, 1v1 is not a reality. Taranto 3 Battleships disabled by Carrier attack. Dunkerque crippled by aircraft. Bismarck disabled by aircraft stopping her escape or chance to survive. Tirpitz, Norway, sunk by aircraft. The realisation of Aircraft carrier power was slow for the RN and non-existent for the Axis. RN had no fighters early on to support the slow Swordfish so the dominance that can be brought against land based fighters was not there. Italian and Germans had very strong fighter aircraft capable of keeping at bay what little Fleet air arm the RN had. This doesn't change the fact that it was the point that Battleship time was over, the aircraft carrier has been the premier platform ever since. Airpower kept the British ahead of the curve and the Axis lack of carriers gave them limited projection in the West. Not only do Carriers allow you control of the sea around you, it also denies the enemy recon, and intelligence. Airpower gives you all the Aces, something that denied the Axis any progression.

    • @dovetonsturdee7033
      @dovetonsturdee7033 День тому

      @@MultiVeeta Don't you recall writing : 'The Bismarck was the most powerful Battleship when Battleships ruled the waves.' Oh well. The fact is that that comment was incorrect. I can name several superior capital ships. Moreover, I did not delete, or try to delete, anything. I simply replied to an inaccurate comment. Didn't you also say : 'Aircraft carriers have ruled the seas ever since 1941. An Aircraft carrier can attack a Battleship fleet from over 300 mile away.' When did that happen in the West in WW2? As to the rest of your comments . 1). As I wrote. Taranto was an attack on ships in harbour. 2). Dunkerque was crippled by 15 inch shells from HMS Hood in Mers el Kebir harbour. 3). Bismarck was damaged by torpedo aircraft, but destroyed by the combined fire of two batteships. ( I have already told you 1). & 3). earlier, by the way). 4). Tirpitz was destroyed, again in harbour, by Bomber Command Lancasters, not by carrier borne aircraft. If the 'realization of Aircraft carrier power was slow for the RN' how was it that the RN had built up to full tonnage allowance the number of carriers allowed by the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922? Specifically, as the treaty stated, 'The total tonnage for aircraft carriers of each of the Contracting Powers shall not exceed in standard displacement, for the United States 135,000 tons (137,160 metric tons), and for the British Empire 135,000 tons (137,160 metric tons). In more detail, on 1 September, 1939, the Royal Navy had seven carriers in service. The US Navy had five. The Royal Navy were not slow to understand the potential of the aircraft carrier, they simply saw the role of the carrier in the west as totally different from the role the US Navy envisaged for their carriers in the Pacific. Both navies were correct in their evaluations, by the way. 'Italian and Germans had very strong fighter aircraft capable of keeping at bay what little Fleet air arm the RN had.' You mean like how the Italian air force kept the Fleet Air Arm at bay at Taranto or Matapan? Or how the Luftwaffe protected Konigsberg in Bergen harbour? Or how Luftwaffe fighters protected Bismarck from attack in mid-Atlantic/ Or how the Luftwaffe protected Tirpitz from the Fleet Air Arm during Operation Tungsten? 'Like all things it is a combined offensive that wins wars.' Of course it is, which is why the carrier in the west was a subordinate part of a larger force, and why your Pacific centred fixation is in error. It also explains why the carriers used in Operation Pedestal were protected by two battleships, seven cruisers, and thirty two destroyers.
