Hi everyone. My name is James.
Having pondered the idea for some considerable time, I decided midway through 2021 to create my own UA-cam channel. I'm sure you've probably gathered that I enjoy cars quite a bit, so I decided to base the content around them. There's episodes of me trying to mend mine whenever they break down (more often than not), as well as taking them out to car meets to enjoy them with my amazing son, Reggie.
Not everything goes to plan, as you'll discover, but the way I look at things is to at least give them a try. I'm not an expert, but I'm always learning.
I'm always looking for new ideas and things to make episodes of, so please feel free to let me know what you think of them, good or bad. Please also let me know your suggestions on the sorts of things you'd like to see.
If you would like to show your support, click the "Subscribe" button. Everything is always greatly appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to explore the channel. I hope you enjoy it.

Episode 210 - The Squires Car Cruise 2024
Reggie and myself head out once again to the Squires bikers cafe to check out the motors taking part in the car cruise heading out to NY500. Now, whilst we didn't attend the second venue, we both saw some brilliant cars (and the odd helicopter!) arriving and leaving the cafe. This was despite some appalling weather!
It was also a good opportunity to test out the repairs I made to our Mk7 Fiesta. Let's see how well it faired! HaHa!

Hi bro, thanks. İnstagram adress?
Hi I was watching one of your Capri videos for some help - my son Michael, living here in France has a 1985 2.0S. I came across, by chance this video featuring Will Greene’s Mini - I am Will’s dad!! 😊
I absolutely love reading these sorts of stories, simply because of the slim chances of them happening. This is amazing! Absolutely fantastic! 😀 I hope Michael got his Capri sorted BTW.
Hey Jimmy my partner paid out $7,000 aud to two mechanical firms to fix her 1994 xj6 jaguar and they took the car by tow truck and returned it by tow truck not being able to get it going but big handout for cash. Some people have no shame. I watched your video about the crankshaft sensor thought this dude knows what he’s talking about. I got a $22 part from China arrived quickly after the local suppliers quoted nine times more! Anyway came with a three pin connector not two so I took a gamble chopped them both soldered with my Parkinson’s hand put the shrink wrap onto it fitted it back on and not expecting it to start it fired on first crank and ran like a dream, we love it and I got a few kudos wink wink nudge nudge haha all thanks to you mate. I really appreciate it. This car hadn’t gone for three years and now it’s a dream motor. Thank you number one. Your the man...no doubt about that. Cheers Chris.
Wow. That's such a nice post to read Chris. Thank you so much. I always feel pleased when I learn that one of our videos has been enjoyed, or has helped someone out in some way. It means a lot, so, thank you. I'm learning about these things as I go. I'm far from being a qualified mechanic, but I like trying to do as much as I can myself on my cars. Sounds like your missus had a pretty bad experience with that garage. It pisses me off to think people act like that with no remorse. Still, I'm so glad your now sorted and that you can enjoy your X300 once more. All the best. Cheers buddy. 👍
A day out with Reggie and you would be all that I would need ! You need more support ! A day out with Reggie and dad is a win !

@@wayneblake1161 Absolutely buddy. This year's rain has done everyone's head in! 🤣 Thanks ever so much once again. 👍
Great video mate, glad they were no pesky road signs in your way this time! 😂
Ha! Yes indeed! 🤣 Thank you buddy. 👊
Love your enthusiasm. What a great thing to do with your son. I was impressed with his car knowledge too. It was also nice to get some screen time as usually when I follow Ben in his R34 GTR, no one pays the Scooby any attention 😂
Bless you Adam. Thank you so much. Yes, Reggie's knowledge of cars is pretty impressive. Not that it should be a surprise to anyone, given the amount of meets he's now attended! 🤣 Glad we managed to feature your Scooby buddy. I do my upmost to try and get as much car footage in our videos as possible, and yours is just as deserving as anyone else's. Perhaps that results in our videos being longer than most people's, but that's just how we roll on our channel! 👊
Hi Jimmy! Love watching your videos. I'm pretty cack-handed but I'd love to learn how to fix some of these older cars. I'm thinking of buying a cheap Mk6 one from Autotrader to tinker with. How did you learn to do the basics? Do you have any advice for someone who wants to start? I've got a 2014 Hyundai 1.6 diesel but they seem more complicated to work on than these small petrol cards of the 2000s. Plus, I've always had a soft spot for this mark Fiesta because it was the first car I ever drove! 😁
Hi Adam. Thanks very much for your kind words buddy. Means a lot. 😀 Well, let me start by saying that I'm by no means a trained mechanic, but I'm more than happy to give you my advice! 🤣 First, and most importantly, prepare safely before working on a car. If you're working with major electrics, always disconnect your battery from the negative terminal before you start. And NEVER go under a car suspended in the air on a slope or without axle stands. I've seen many do so using just a jack and I cringe with horror. Second, do your research on the job itself. I've used advice from friends, books, internet forums and other UA-cam videos, which have been very useful to take notes from as part of my preparation. In the case of this job, a big sheet to catch the steering fluid spills stopped any mess on my drive! 😁 Third, be prepared to set aside sufficient time to do something. Sometimes, a "10-minute job" can take 10 minutes, but sometimes it can take a day. The last thing you want is to find yourself with your car in bits and needing to be somewhere at the same time! Fourth, get an array of good tools. Socket sets and wratchet spanners for sure. They don't have to be expensive. Just decent. I recently bought an induction heater for about £170 to help remove the rusty nuts and bolts on my Mk7 Fiesta (Episode 202). It was a god-send. Trust me, on a Mk6, you'll have some rusty nuts and bolts! Don't forget Santa's on his way soon too, so... 😉! Fifth, think about each step logically as you go. If you don't need to remove something, don't remove it. Some jobs look incredible daunting at first, but in reality, they're just simply things to unbolt and bolt on, and not always that hard. Sixth, take steps to remember where things go back as you remove them. If I'm not sure, I write notes, or take before-and-after photos. I also use those takeaway tubs to put nuts and bolts in, somethimes several of them, to keep sections separate. It's easy to forget where something goes! 😁 Finally, if you're genuinely uneasy about a job, get someone to help you or let a garage do it. I've been fortunate enough on the occasions where I've needed to use my local place, as they've allowed me to see what they do, giving me the knowledge if I have to do it again myself in the future. I hate being defeated with a job on a car, but sometimes, even I have to concede! 😅 I hope this helps you out somewhat. Don't ever be afraid to ask for assistance from anyone. Remember, every day is a school day! All the best. Cheers. 👍
Did you reuse all the bolts or buy new ones ?
Hi Tim. For the bottom arm itself, yes. I reused the 2 large bolts that held it to the underside of the car. In the end, I did the same with the other arm too. Now, the pinch bolts and stud bolts are a different story. They were so badly damaged, I did replace these. If you check out episode 202, you'll see that I purchased an induction heater to get them off, and see the new bolts that I fitted. Hope that makes sense. 👍
What's the best engine mods to do on the st220 if you want abit more power? Just brought a black st220 absolutely love it. Great video
Thanks mate. Glad you liked it. Dunk is very-much the man in the know for your question. Hopefully he'll see this and give you a reply! 😁
sometimes is the battery, same symptom. why didn't you bought one new? here in Portugal we give the old one and buy a new one refurbished with warranty. way cheaper than a factory one or a valeo/bosch/luk
This problem began occurring at the back-end of Episode 207, after I'd replaced one of the fuel injectors. I did consider the battery at that time. However, what swung me away from that was the fact that the turning over of the engine was intermittent. On the first turn of the key, it would be too slow. One the second, you'd just hear a clicking relay, and nothing more. Then on the third, it would start instantly. No pattern. Totally random. If it was the battery, it would have just got slower and slower, and then do nothing at all. All I can say is that since replacing the starter motor, it's turned over every single time and it still has the same battery. The reason I didn't buy a new one was simply due to the fact that the replacement was gifted to me. Had I not had this option, I probably would have bought a new or reconditioned unit. Cheers. 👍
JK, did you not run a diagnostic on the car? Does it not tell you what is failing ? Love to see you doing it old school , hope you fixed it !
Cheers Eamo. Yeah, my mate plugged in his laptop before I fitted the injector in episode 207. The fact that the turnover of the engine was intermittent (sometimes perfect, sometimes slow and sometimes just a clicking relay), the starter motor seemed the logical step to tackle. In the end, replacing it seemed to work, and Reggie and I actually went out in it to another car meet, as you'll see in the next episode. BTW, loving the "JK"! 👌
@@jimmykneesall I loved cars before computers. In Venezuela in the 80s I got a brand new Ford F150 pickup and went to the local Chinese to celebrate. I came out and heard nothing... I radioed the mechanic, Yes a problem with the starter motor... Look here he said ...(It had been nicked, two bolts) ! Easy diagnosis without a PC !
@eamo106 That is an amazing story! Love it! 🤣 I'm the same as you mate. I'd rather make things work with the smack of a good hammer over a computer any day! ❤
Your welcome mate, anytime 👍🏼

Nice video. Fancy getting a 1.25 petrol Fiesta and doing some videos on that? 👍
@Shavenuw129 Cheers buddy. I've actually got 2 Fiestas already on the drive. I don't think any more will fit! 🤣
I’ve had umpteen classics over the years from Morris 1000’s to mk2 jags to mk2 escorts and many BMC big saloons in between and all of them were used daily or on a regular basis ,even in winters ice and snow .when the company’s made them they weren’t made to sit in a garage til it was nice weather .having to fix brakes every year because they’ve seized the wheel cylinders up .. .
Absolutely Craig. These cars are definitely built to be enjoyed. Obviously, everyone has their preferences for that enjoyment, but I agree that they need to be out and about. My lad and I take our Capri to as many meets as we can, and I know Mike definitely enjoys his Mk2 in the same way! 😁🖤💙
Good work Jimmy!
Cheers Chris. Much appreciated buddy. 😎
Thanks pal, you've saved a guy some money there. I know what I'm doing tomorrow 👍🏻
Cheers buddy. Much appreciated. I will add something that I didn't feature in the video. Before you fit the discs, just give them a spray with break cleaner first and wipe the surfaces. The discs come packaged with a fine film of oil sprayed on them, to stop them rusting in storage. The brake cleaner will get rid of it once it's wiped off. 👍 Keep me posted on how you get on buddy. Thanks again. 👍
Thank you! Do you have the torque values for replacement of each nut we removed? Thank you!
Hi mate. I'm afraid I don't. I just worked off of the feel when tightening. Don't get me wrong. It probably would be sensible to use a torque wrench. Hopefully there are forums out there that may be able to give you those numbers. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
@@jimmykneesall Thanks for your soon answer! I just don't have Haynes for the Volvo as I have for the other car I have.
@ulfskorre2386 The good old Haynes manuals. I bet they'd be insanely complicated if they existed for new cars! 🤣
So the pinch bolt through knuckle is 80 nm The sway bar links are 60 nm The strut mount bolt in centre is 58 nm The strut mount bolts the 3 holding to chassis are 30 nm Got that from my online Haynes manual Plus some anti seize paste copper slip is quite good on bottom of strut so it glides in nice and comes out better in future

Sadly, Dan no longer owns the car. However, knowing his very ambitious mind, he'd have probably fitted a gearbox from a Boeing 747 if he could! 🤣
Jimmy. Just for overseas viewers , what year is your Mk7 Fiesta? 2016-2023 ? Looks rusty as F, ? European cars in England last ? 6 -8 years >? Its newer than my 2011 V6 Ford Escape with 110,000 miles or my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 with 80,000 miles . Texas is really good for cars ,, Both mine sweet. Having said that, we have straight roads / highways? Just Trolling Jimmy ! I know UK motoring is hard, If I returned, I would buy my wife a Japanese car, me a Capri !
Cheers Eamo. I would be so happy seeing you and your missus in the two cars you really want, especially your Capri. 👌 Don't worry. This car deserves all the expletives it gets. It's a 2009 model. One of the early Mk7's, with no nice extras inside and lots of brown metal outside. It's horrid. 🤣

I worked on old Minis @ Newcastle University to fix some , usually fixing girls cars, and bought and sold a few, little money, made more at Grey''s Casino in Newcastle ! I like this new avenue on your channel to pick out some great cars, for an in depth ! wish they were all Capris !!
My first car I owned was a Mini, as mentioned in the video. It certainly gave me some great memories. They give everyone great memories though, don't they? Glad you're enjoying this spin on our content mate. You know I'd be more than happy to feature a Capri or two! 😁
So what exactly happend???
Do you mean why the knocking began in the first place, or what the car was like after the repair? For the former, I can only think that the strut was damaged as a result of general wear and tear from going over bumps. Can't see it being anything else. Certainly not crash damage. For the latter, absolutely spot-on. The car drove like a dream. We no longer have it any more, but it was still handling speed humps with ease up to that point. Hope that helps.
great episode, best one yet, but im bias 🤣😃👍

Use some heat on it! It looks as if you have a sticking caliper - the inside face of the disc is rusty, so a caliper replace or rebuild is required. Otherwise you'll still have unequal braking.
I was thinking that the caliper was fine, given that I could compress the piston without any issues. Is what you're saying a factor of why I had uneven wear across that inside pad?
@ - it is simply not normal that the inside pad would not be in full contact with the disc face, so to have just the inner part of the disc/pad delivering correct braking is very odd indeed. And it's the piston side of the caliper, so perhaps there was something not fitted correctly long ago, or something trapped between pad and disc.
@a310man That makes sense. Probably incorrectly fitted before. The piston seemed to depress without a problem. Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.
Fast Ford's
There were indeed a few that day. 😁
Some nice fords maybe I’ll get my focus st on one of your vids one day
Hope so buddy. Reggie and I tend to get out and about in the Crappy. We do like the Squires Ford events. If you happen to be there, feel free to pop over and say hello! 👋
Loving the content
Thanks Pete. Glad you're enjoying it. Plenty more on the way! 😁
Bloody brilliant really enjoyed that well done that you stuck at it 👍
Cheers Stephen. Much appreciated. Ironically, I didn't know at the time that I might have gotten away with just replacing the rounded stud. I didn't know they were removable! 🤦♂️ Still, I was happy with the result in the end. Cheers buddy. 👍
Awesome appreciate the video 🎉
No problem buddy. Thank you for your kind words. 👊
Jimmy thank you so much, I always follow you and Reggie hoping to see something like my two special Fords. I have talked about them before (see previous posts). I stopped dead in my tracks,,, at 11:28 minutes , the EXACT replica of my Daytona yellow Mk II 1.6 Capri, this is exactly the 1977 S reg Daytona Yellow Capri Mk II , black venial roof etc that I bought second hand in 1979. I bought it from a Ford Capri dealership in Stoke. I even went to visit the prior owner as it was in such showroom condition, he was in his garage polishing his new MkIII ! It was like new. I had this girl till 1985 when I went overseas. I continued your Vlog 2 cars later. You had my second car , a G Reg Ford Cosworth Sapphire at 11.46 minutes,, what the heck ! I bought this same colour and year on a trip home ! In 8 minutes walking , you had the exact same two cars, years and colours as I bought in 1979 and 1989 by memory ~~ And they say Karma is not a thing ! WOW Jimmy !
I love the fact that our videos seem to activate the floodgates for your memories Eamo. To have that Capri and that Sierra in those colours so close to one another at the same venue, and they so-happen to be identical to one of our followers whose living in the US, who just so happened to live and work not far from where we live - Extraordinary mate. So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for continuing to support us. Part 3 coming this Sunday! 😎
@@jimmykneesall Just overcome by seeing these two Fords of mine back in day mate one car away. A then 'starter' Cap[ri 1.6L still in its original S reg, Aug 1977 - July 78 ! in Daytona Yellow /Black vinyl roof. WHO the heck keeps this ? Someone did and he is my brother !
@eamo106 👊
@@jimmykneesall talking about the same thing too often, I will shut up !
@@jimmykneesall I'll be quiet.
Thanks for another great video enjoyed it glad the little fella had a good day
Cheers Geoff. Yeah, he did. We both did. Squires always puts on a good show. Part 3 coming this Sunday! 😁
Looks like a shitty job. Wondering why my garage was asking for so much, now I see why. Would suggest some protective glasses for a job like that :)
i was there did you see the mclaren drive by arround 12 ish?
This year's event, or 2023's?
that was arather large number of standard mondeos 🤣
Very fitting for the meet though, eh? Better than a bunch of Teslas! 🤣
Quality ! Keep em coming 👍
Cheers Keef! Will do indeed matey! 😀
Cool vidio mate ❤ wish I’d seen you on the approach I’d have floored it 😂
HaHa! Not to worry matey. Which one was yours again? What time do you appear on the video? 😀
@@jimmykneesall11.40 the black escort cosworth , is that where you stand in all the other vids mate
@@c111prs Ah! Very nice moor indeed buddy! Yeah, we tend to base ourselves there to start with to capture the arrivals. We've done a few videos from there now, including a couple of the Japanese car meets.
@@jimmykneesall good little spot that mate, I gave it the beans 🫘 under the bridge lol 😂 hopefully 🤞 see you next time pal
@@c111prs Hopefully we can make the next one buddy. 👍
Brilliant placement Jimmy, Tears in my eye, a Burgundy G Reg Sapphire Cosworth @ timestamp 27.17 was the exact year and car that I had been looking for for all my time on this channel. I left the UK NCB Coal Mines in 1985 for overseas in the oil business and sold my S reg Capri II. I used to come back every year and hire a hot hatchback from Town and Country near London Heathrow. They were the only car hire company with great cars like the Peugeot 105 1.6 GTI original.! One mad year coming back , I bought a G reg Cosworth Sapphire and drove it for a month before returning to Brazil. This car is the same year, colour and model ! It was fantastic, I was @ 140 mph or so going to London at night and a Goodyear Eagle burst at night,,, it was stable,,, but took 6 days to get a replacement tyre . My ex sold it after I left to a Scammer ! What a great waste of money that was for 3 weeks fun ! Wouldn't change that memory for all the money in the world ! Man you should have so many more subscribers !
I love your stories Eamo. Always full of fantastic memories. I'm so pleased that this episode has brought them back for you. Sounds like you had a lucky escape with the blowout though! 😲 Reggie and I definitely picked a superb spot. We got traffic from both northbound and southbound carriageways meeting together. Definitely helped with the road closure at the other side of the venue too! 🤣 Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your continued support. Part 2 coming next week! 👍😎
@@jimmykneesall Absolutely waiting on the next post Mate. I would love to be 20 now and have a Focus to work on, with all the kit they have available to them and knowledge. In my days it was just Halfords so I found a 2.0s scrapyard engine and put it into my 1.6 gearbox, added 4 ex track racing tyres. It was great for a month till I raced an RS Ford on the M1 (BANG !!!!) piston through the motor. I then bought a 1600 engine and sold it before going overseas ... In 1985 we had no internet or training or education on mechanics so we just did ,,,, it usually came out bad !
@@eamo106 I have a lot of appreciation for the modern car, but I can never see myself owning one. I just like being able to fix what I can myself on them, something that gets harder to do with newer vehicles. The idea of just swapping out an engine for a scrapyard replacement is very appealing, although I've had to go that far yet! 🤣
@@jimmykneesall In my era Jimmy we worked odd jobs for money for cars, then to the salvage yards for parts at 1/5th of the cost of new. As Georgie Best may have said, I spent all my money on cars, the rest I wasted on girlfriends.
@@eamo106 🤣
Great video 👌 Do you know why geese have a longer side on the V shape when flying ? It's because theres more on that side .....ba dum tsschhh 😂
