Living On A Lifeboat
Canada
Приєднався 4 вер 2020
We are Dani and Toryn and we are converting a 28-foot enclosed lifeboat (formerly from a ferry) into a liveaboard boat with an electric engine. Eventually we'll be in the canals of Europe, but in the meantime join us as we rebuild the boat into our tiny dream home and cruise the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, Canada and beyond.
Fully Electric Lifeboat Conversion Solar Install (1180w)
In this episode we install our GoPower! Solar panels and start wiring the electrical system. We have a fully electric lifeboat conversion (including our engine) so we need a lot of solar and this 1180w gets us off to a good start!
Thanks for joining us on our process of converting a former ferry lifeboat into a fully electric liveaboard boat. For the most up-to-date information visit us on instagram ( livingonalifeboat).
Thanks so much to GoPower! for gifting us this solar set up. They in no way asked us to say anything specific, so all opinions are 100% our own.

Переглядів 1,6 тис.Рік тому
In this episode we test out a Bluetti Portable Power Station with 268 Wh (not 285 as stated in the video) and a 600W inverter. This is a great option for car camping, power outages, weekend cruising and more-helpful on Luja, it would have been a complete game changer on our sailboat, Easy Rider, which didn't have shore power. Plus, watch to the end and get a special sneak peak at Luja's current...

Ep 13: Ending Our Pumpkin Era // Lifeboat Conversion

In this episode we cover our bright orange paint, work on the rudder assembly, and prepare to re-enter the water. We also FORGET to fill a hole in the hull until the very last second! Toryn and Dani met in 2010 while on the same equestrian vaulting team. Best described as gymnastics and dance on a moving horse, vaulting was only the first of many quirky adventures we’ve embarked on together. We...

This is the best one I have seen yet lots of flat surfaces.
Where are you guys?? 🇬🇧🇬🇧🙏🙏
Why does all life boat channels post a little and are all in active for 1-3 years lol
Are you still working on her? I can’t wait to see the finished product. Don’t give up.
It just occurred to me, how are the fiberglass sideboards going to work with getting hauled out? Or are you only ever going to come out of the water there with the lifty arms?
What ever happened with this project? Is it still on going? Is it finished? Did you guys give up?
Boat is 90% done just no time for UA-cam unfortunately… We live aboard and love it! Hopefully at some point we will post again if nothing else just all the finished systems
Looks like they gave up, boat refit causes most to dump their boats
Boats 90% done we live aboard just no time for UA-cam between working on the boat and both of us having full time jobs…
I'm interested in doing this eventually. Maybe a couple of years. You young people are marvelous. Love to see projects like these. Can't wait to see that beast in the water with your new electric motor. If possible, could you explain how big your battery bank is? How many amps will the motor run on. I see that you have a 12 kilowatt motor and you have a 1180 watts solar panels. How many hours will it take ti charge this battery bank? Thank you.
bravo cool
cool
:)
Only one dude on the street corner selling sikaflex 🤔
Man, you guys been at this a while now. Cheers good luck.
I feel like I'm cheating on Alex Hibbert watching this. Hope it all went well though...
Wrong end 🫡
It's much easier to get in this boat with the ladder. It's worth getting. If the water is cold you want to get out quickly in an emergency.
Such a BIG project! It´s lovely how you work together. Congrats. I´m eager to see it once you´re finished.
Awesome! Looks amazing!!!
Hi D&T! New sub here... Really excited to catchup and follow your journey! Cheers from South Florida! T

Hi how did you register it ? I love what you guys are doing? I’ve seen a couple but they only have a bill of sale
Hi I love what you are doing . How did or how are you going to get it registered? Every one I talk to they just come with a bill of sale. That will not work in Maryland.
sir/Madame you could have use a drill pump for the water which will assist your pumping needs. you made a big mistake removing the plug for drainage, now you will find this task labour intensive.
What is up with the sound?
Call the pudgy Halle, like Hallelujah. Lmao.
Wow, you guys sure know how to drag out a conversation. I guess it's a good way to get free stuff eh?
Looks good guys ! Cheers from white rock Bc
I had a Go Power 3kw PSW inverter and used it for quite a few years. It performed flawlessly. Customer support was stellar as well. You should be in good shape with the setup.
Hi twin
HI @@dannyclark131 There were two Danny Clarks in my battalion in the service. That got quite confusing at times. ;-)
This MAY be an uninformed question - it APPEARS that the switch between the solar array and the rest of the charging system is cross-wired... seems ODD that the positive and negative source wires do NOT "line-up" on the two sides of the on/off switch. OR, is it the nature of the (presumably) rotary switch components to line up "crossed" when turned ON?
It’s just an odd thing with the rotary switch I definitely did a double take when I installed it!
Looking good. Are they 100W panels?👍🙂
Hey they are 190 watt panels :) Your build is looking great btw!
Wish to see more videos on UA-cam. I was totally behind y'all at the beginning.but Videos have been few and far between. And this one here was just a little snow. Can't wait to see y'all getting motivated and adventuring.
Love to watch all your progress 🦊😎🦊👍
🤠👍
Hi guys, do you think the stock engine and gear .. including the exhaust system .. would hold up to normal everyday use? Thanks, Bill.
The engines in these are great-it was a Bukh 36 and Bukh engines are one of the only true marine engines as opposed to a marinized tractor engine. Unless it has seen salt water or something after coming out of service they tend to be excellent engines with low hours and good maintenance! If we hadn’t been so determined to go electric we wouldn’t have thought twice about keeping it. I would say you want to do some muffling or something though-they were were straight stack dry cooled engines with zero insulation or anything; it’s pretty loud! But I mean it would probably work fine, just be unpleasant.
@@LivingOnALifeboat thanks I appreciate the ingo. My is to build a house boat and box in and add sound proofing, and ventalate the box, then want to add a keel cooling system like the old fishing trawler I used to work on. I also would add some portholes. I was not sure if the engines would hold up beings it seems these boats were designed to be used on a daily basis, but they have so much potential. If I did not plan on moving long distances and leaving begore day light on some mornings and not arriving toll just after dark in an anchorage or a slip, and my bank account was a little better off, I would go electric.
I mean to say info, not ingo... dern phone buttons are too small. Lol
HELLA+LUJA
Think about vertical axis wind turbine, no noise no moving parts
Pullea = Pudgy in Finnish Roteva = stalwart in Finnish Vankka = Robust in Finnish
It's better to over do it sister.
Hahaha it's all your fault
I have a pudgy. Great little tender. I will note.. With just about ANY headwind you better go VERY slowly or you will get very wet
Epoxy is always better to spray it if you can
nice!
I love that color! Very nice!
*hi ım from turkey*
Killer colour dudes. Love your channel🤙👊🎉🎉🖖🖖
she looks gorgeous in this color.
❤❤❤❤
Looks good!
Always enjoy another look at your continuing efforts. There is a lot of work in getting any boat just the way you want it, but there is a lot of satisfaction from the results.
That glass looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
