    Hey James, I love the work you've done, I actually have some questions relating to a 1993 thunderbird I recently got. I plan on adding some budget engine mods to it, what do you recommend?

    • @jamesarmstrong8118
      @jamesarmstrong8118 Місяць тому

      Much appreciated! SCCOA.com & supercoupeperformance.com are the two great resources for information and parts. In my opinion, a free flowing exhaust and 3.73 differential gears will get you going in the right direction, add reliability and increase performance. But hey, I just destroyed an engine so don’t trust everything I say! 😂. Tuning is really the next big step after these first two, once you are able to get a tune you can start adding bolt on’s for MO’ POWAH BABY!

      @jamesarmstrong8118 Here's the thing lol, I'd love to do that, but this car actually has body mods from the previous owner (my grandfather) and a lot of custom mods to make it look like an older "hot rod" type car. So I'll definitely look into your recommendations, in a way that doesn't dishonor the initial build of the car. If that makes sense.

    just like the wire... some cars would be lucky to make a 1/4 mile, tho that frame crack behind the seat is an ouch. their is a 5 link AAM1150 strapped onto the N-W Tbird, because the 4.6 broke 3 cv axles pushing 75psi in the stock injectors... has 42lb LT1's and enough pump to replicate a garden hose spraying water 30ft with the pointy end... no turbo, that's just to combat fuel boil on a hot day... the pump says it is a 440gph at 0psi to its 180gph at 40psi thru a 80psi injector pump, 3 pumps and the whole 30amp braker with an extra 12ga wire. 😵‍💫 the EGR delete ended the stalling at idle but the hot iridium spark plugs are dark brown clean on the spark points because white hot cleans its self. "if it gets a turbo it might auto moon boost to 700"... a rev and clutch dump is not a good idea on the 8.8 axles, kind of is the same thing as driving on snow covered roads, traction no traction to traction... 1/4 mile up hill driveway covered in a foot deep of hard ice and slush that the 4.6 holds in second gear with a 4.10 rear at 40mph... 40mph in slush/ice as the rear was 1750lb, that one ton axle added 700 and has a hypoid locker in it... no dirt jumps but the winter tires were the cheapest thing on it that skip a small amount thru first over small junction bumps. 11.76 first gear and is hardly slips the 2600lb rear end. "whole car's weigh 26... its nearly 4800lb 🥸" 🤔 was happy about changing the water pump last month after a quick job... 3 stage 60lb/300lb/500lb coil springs on the rear, that's 2X for the rear travel rate's '1200lb/in after 3.5 inch'. hay wire welding of 150lbs of 5/32 6010 pipe line rod. 😵‍💫 V8 was good choice, it brakes everything... fiber in the 4R70w fluid too just started showing up. questioning the rust spot under the water pump... is it even the original engine? 380'000km "km dash" on a usa vin car... that water pump was very rusty for 60-70k miles being a known leaking mileage. hardly even started running really, no idea what its out of if it was swapped other then a "lack of power claim in the 2005 car fax report that have a valve body update posted on it. but if their were 400k of them made, only ever seen 2 on the road and 3 for bush whacking sale... wonder what 4.6 SOHC's came with the 500lbft valve body kit? car fax's would be a dealer job, no one else updates that stuff?

    So how did your engine move forward with the crossmember bolted down to the transmission and then to the frame? Trying to understand that?

    • @jamesarmstrong8118
      @jamesarmstrong8118 6 місяців тому

      The AJE engine mounts pulled the engine/trans forward, I loosened all the trans k-member bolts so the trans k-member could also move forward, but that only lets it shift so far. The rubber trans mount was still being stretched forward HARD, and there was a lot of extra driveshaft exposed from the tailshaft. Even with the AJE shifted back as far as possible I really had to persuade everything to fit. In the end, with the AJE I had to fab new engine mounts to move the engine/trans back to their original location.

    Does the abs still work, assuming it does, it’s more ford “voodoo” or maybe a break in the wire casing somewhere, my obs ford had the same light come on with everything but the brake booster replaced, my best take at it is see what you have checked, check stored codes, or maybe you could try and data log while your driving the car

    Awesome car, what made you want to turbo it, ik the m90 stands for cubic ft per rotation of the rotor or something like that, and I don’t know enough about boost and motors yet, I’d have to check but I believe the sc’s got a different piston height not rod length to help drop compression, but people in the forums said sc’s have blow from cam swaps which does not play with compression of a motor but allows more air in which is getting “more”compressed, or I guess there’s more cylinder pressure im guessing? And that’s what blows the head gaskets? Back to the boost thing how come you didn’t want to go small turbo and keep the m90, I assume that more boost (tiny turbo) would eliminate the “restriction” the m90, in the forums I believe I seen a 3.8 sc put down like 350hp and the 4.2 Essex with an m90 put down like 450hp so I know these motors can make power, any how thanks for the insight
