Nature Photography Vlog in Lake Country! First Snowfall and Winter Photography
An expensive bag for what it has to offer. Too expensive so fortunately I won’t buy one. Fortunately you say? Yes fortunately because we’re loaded with stuff. Be buy stuff to carry even more stuff. Think about it.
Congrats on a well done video. I actually have the 7-14mm on order -- to replace my Panasonic 7-14mm which I use primarily for landscapes. The Panasonic lens is super, but it isn't weather sealed, is f/4, and most importantly it is pretty bad about producing purplish lens flares. All that said, for me there is no question that my favorite travel lens is my Olympus 12-100mm f/4 Pro. That lens stays glued to my OM-1 Mkll, unless I'm shooting birds or distant wildlife. It has everything needed for a travel lens in one package -- great focal range, near macro close up, minimal distortion, weather sealing, Synch IS, Pro lens build, and it's razor sharp at every focal length and aperture. If I need some extended reach, I simply press a programmed button and turn on the DTC and I can get a sharp 400mm equivalent FOV @ f/4. In a word, it's the best zoom lens I've ever used. (P.S. I owned the 12-40mm Pro, but sold it after getting the 12-100mm because it was just collecting dust.)
Any time I travel i don't limit my self to one camera and one lens, the last few years when I travel primary on a plane, my carry on is a photo backpack with two 4/3 camera bodies and a few different zoom and prime lens. For cameras 📷 i choose from Panasonic G9 and G95, Olympus OMD EM1 MKII & MKIII AND EM5 MKIII.
Just got my upgraded camera a few days ago, and this tutorial works for me. Thanks Robynne
Sure you can fit them all, now show us how long you can walk with all those gears in a sing bag.
Leather gets patina with time, it gets better and better. For the scratches, you just need to apply a leather cream from time to time : it self repairs very well. It would last lifetime.
Thanks for such an excellent explanation of Milanote. It really explained the program so clearly.
Thanks for the basic info on this one - i have a booking soon and was wondering what gear to bring so now my backup gear will be my OM-1 with 40-150f/2.8 and MC 14 behind my OM-1 Mk II with 150-400... my reg daily driver...... I hope to have some good encounters on our 7 hour tour from Campbell River with a company that also operates out of Comox.....
I just bought this camera (Used unit). Thank you for the tips. This is really helpful. U must have changed to a better camera.
Notebook but no pen. 😂
I went on that afternoon tour with Prince of Whales in Aug 2022 and it was the most amazing experience. We saw about 14 Orcas playing together.I would highly recommend Prince Of Whales. The staff were wonderful. They showed us pics and info on what we might see and they had a photographer on board who emailed all the photos that she took to everyone. This was great especially for people who might have only had a phone with them.If I get the chance to go to Vancouver again I will without doubt take another trip with Prince of Whales.Your info in your video was great too 😊☘️🇮🇪
This video was shot about a trip out of Victoria on Vancouver Island..... ""Prince of Wales" operates out of Victoria not Vancouver if you want more options, there are many other tours all the way around the island, with lots running out of campbell river.......
So helpful, thank-you!
I always set to QUICK ERASE …. default option too slow and annoying …
I have had a non-leather version for several years. I think the pockets are pretty useless. If there was a clasp or some other kind of fastener on the back pocket, it could be useful for a phone. I don’t use tt much anymore, partly because of that, and partly because I often work with two bodies.
Just a tip. Please take it or dismiss it: Selfie videos look better if you reduce the gap above your head. Your eyes are dead centre in the frame. IMHO a little higher is way better.
the quality of your image is amazing …. what camera and settings!?
Thank you very much for this, it is exactly what I was looking for. I have the exact same kit: 12-40, 40-150, EM1, and a small prime, and I'd been searching everywhere to find a sling that can fit it all yet still be somewhat compact. Your video answered all my questions, thanks so much
Enjoyed your pictures and thankyou for putting up. 7-14 and 40-150 pro lens changed my photography. 7-14 also good for astro. It's built like a tank, taken it into the mountains with no fear.
This video is really great! I don't really see a lot of creators talking about Milanote but I absolutely love it. I just wish it had more cards for those who can only afford the free version... So I have to use this in conjunction with Notion that is completely free. Though hopefully Milanote improves in the future!
Good video !!! I just recently picked up one of these with a very low shutter count. Curious the reason for changing from RGB to Adobe ?
I do like a lot of things about Milanote, but I am worried about the longevity of the company. I want to do some collaborative work with a small team and I don’t want them to either go bust or stop innovating. Have you seen much in the way of new functionality or other evidence of growth over the recent months/years?
Thank you for the valuable information 😀 , what is the best setting for plants or seed to harvest shooting, and also how to do a long-term time lapse without stopping to change batteries , i mean can you plug the camera to a power source , thank you again
That puppy tho 🫠
Hello Robynne, I’ve been thinking about switching from Canon apsc to MFT. The Olympus EM1, Mark II is a lot of camera for the money. One of my primary concerns is the out of camera footage-I don’t want to expend time color grading. What are your thoughts about the out of camera footage? Also, the resolution of this video is great. Are you using your iPhone or another brand of camera? Good success to you. Peace.
Hello! I'm still learning the videography end of using the Olympus EM1 Mark II but in my experience the footage is okay. A lot of the 'film/video' I do is personal so I don't spend a ton of time color grading the footage and sometimes I'll just leave it as is. The Rocky Mountain vlog from last spring was shot between the iPhone 12 PRO and the Mark II (mostly the Mark II). I just had the camera on 'Natural' and I don't think I did any color grading. If you're looking for kind of a reference on what the output of the camera can look like. Also no ND filters were used cause I didn't have one at the time. It also only goes to 30 fps I think so you can slow the footage down a bit but it's not as smoothe as if you were shooting at 120. I love this camera for photography but in my current knowledge state and personal experience I'd give it a 6 out of 10 for videography. Again, I'm fairly new in the videography side of things but hopefully this helps a little.
@@robynnemacleod Thanks a million for your honesty and for sharing. Be well.
Was that a calendar in one of your boards? I don’t see a cal option anywhere…help!!
Hi, cool work! We'd like to collaborate, how can we get in touch? We couldn't reach you via Instagram :)
Hi Robynne, thanks for your video and useful advice 🤗
Your welcome! I'm glad you found it useful :)
Canada and Sweden are very similar, but your wildlife animals are bigger, Elks, bears, deer, lynks, reindeers and so on.
Victoria and your dog are so cute. When can we see your husband?
Hello Niklas! Thank you! Normally he's at work when I film my videos which is why he isn't in a lot of them. But you see him in any travel vlogs or more personal videos :)
All my 💙 2 U and your family. Hope you get rid of The dictator Trudeau. 😘 ❤️ 💕
I understand why you haven't put out Victoria on social medias. I never put my daughters on social medias either, because of all pedophiles out there. Today is a different thing, since they are adults. 22 and 21 this year. Grownups with a lot of independent thinking. My 2 Angels.
All the best for your future.
Hi Robynne, Thanks for sharing your criteria for organizing. I had a similar date-event approach some time ago until i used a tool like rapid-photo-downloader which creates the month-folders automatically. But sincerely especially after watching this video i am considering going back to some event (or tag keyword) based organization. Only what still troubles me, and my subsequent backups;) , is: - nowadays more big space is taken by raw files (currently i shoot raw + jpeg) and the occasional video files. I think culling is crucial, at least for the subsequent backups. - i would sometimes in events like to consolidate images from various sources (camera, 2nd friend/shooter, handy, actioncam..) how that ? - I would lke to hace the final "creme" in handy albums apart... - Still dont know how to handle "final" - if for facebook/instagram, for print, for slideshow/video prep ? multiple "final" folders ? (what do You prefer as output format/size?) Do You also have problems with these or are these items solved ? would like to know some hint also about these...
Hello! Personally I like to post-process all my photos in one catalogue that way the edits are all the same. If I edit one event in multiple catalogues I might get some details wrong or off if I'm not looking at them all at the same time...if that makes sense. For all my finals I create a 'final' folder for each export size essentially. If I'm posting certain photos to Facebook, Instagram, Print then I'll create a folder for each because the export settings are all different. Hope this helps a little! :)
Honestly I think such lenses are getting obsolete.. you can take that cash and invest it into a top end smartphone that can take equally or better images for wide angles..
can you elaborate on that. at the moment i dont own such a wide angle lens but i do own a smartphone with wide angle ( not a high end though so the results on lower light situations are bad ) have you worked with both such lenses and high end smartphones ?
Hello! Thanks for your comment and opinion. I own an iPhone 13 PRO I think and there's definitely pros and cons to using a smartphone for photography and videography and a camera. For myself smartphones have come a long way and I do use my phone for a lot of video and photos but I still favor my actual camera for a lot of things.
You are a absolute 🐐for this Thank you :)
This was super helpful with how i can use Milanote for starting a content calendar/planning content. I didn't know that you could save/link to a board within a board or adjust the formatting so much! Just getting started so this is awesome to get a kickstart on being better organized.
Great review, thanks for keeping to camera and lens cause that is what I want to use it for. I have seen other reviews with people putting a camera and a drone and controller which is no good to me. I wanted to know what size lens would fit with the camera and you have covered it nicely. Thanks
I'm so glad you found the review helpful :)
Awesome! So glad I discovered this video. I received my EM1 Mark ii two weeks ago and I've been messing with the settings and learning all the camera verbiage. Now I am just learning about external audio and microphones for better sound. I'll check out the videos you suggested as well. Thanks a bunch!
Hi Darrien! It can be a lot cause the camera is so customizable. I hope you are enjoying the camera. I've had mine for a couple years now. It has so many great features :)
Thanks for your surgeston
wow you are really pretty
I am thinking on getting this sling bag as well. I have already the pouch, 30L bag which i use for traveling, almost peak design products I have it only for this sling 6L which I am thinking to buy during the pro-Fussion Toronto, and get more discount. I like the 6L because its not too big and ist not too small either. 6L is just enough for city escape shot. Thank you for sharing.
For video, the 7-14 almost never leaves the mount on my GH6 or Gh5 before that✨ That said, the main drawback is the focus-hunting - noticeable in post but hardly visible on the monitor. For photography, canon r6 all the way🥳
In Salmon arm what location is the perfect to observe the salmon?
Do you think the 70 to 200 USM 1st am will fit
OMG GIRL!!! 😊😊😊😊 Congratulations to you and your husband!! Your daughter is so cute!! 😍😍😍 She looks just like you!!
Looks like a fun time.
Thank you for making a video that doesn’t pitch this lens for “special” use only and posting a bunch of bird photos. I absolutely love the 75mm 1.8 for everyday use and thinking of moving to something with even more reach.
I use the STC Optics screw-on lens/filter adapter and filters for the 7-14mm pro lens which are great.
Like you, I'm a self-taught photographer. I did buy a few books that gave me some ideas. I'll add you on Insta
Think you mean the 12-100 f4. Nice lens. I see you have the 12-40mm 2.8 and 7-14 2.8, do you have the 40-150mm 2.8?
