    Summer of 1967 Forrest shot a 64 at San Mateo Muni in a CA junior qualifying round which was the low round of that day. Guys who saw him on that round said he missed several putts of 10 feet or less. While San Mateo Muni is a short, flat par 70 course, it is on Coyote Point on the San Francisco Bay. The wind off of the Bay starting just before noontime can reek havoc with ball flight and even putting. Forrest was a known name even then.

    The 906 was (and still is) street legal in Germany, It is the last street legal racing Porsche and was marketed under the designation of «Carrera 6» for copyright reasons, because Peugeot owned (and still does) the rights for three digit type numbers using a zero in the middle.

    Front engine Porsches are less desirable for a reason, that rear flat engine design is what made Porsche different from all the rest. And that timeless body style starting with the 356 and then the 911 is what has kept Porsche so desirable.

    • @SAMMYJR00777
      @SAMMYJR00777 3 роки тому

      nope wrong they are all desirable

    • @A-FrameWedge
      @A-FrameWedge Рік тому

      @@SAMMYJR00777 If such a bad design, how did they win so many races with it? The earlier Porsches had some handing problems, they solved this problem by putting more weight in the nose, closer tolerances for the suspension, lengthened the wheelbase, and wider tires.

    Thanks everyone for your comments. I’m a Porsche fan to a point but not hugely versed in them. This was more of a first try at video editing for me. It’s been several years since I first made this video. I’ve now switched gears and will begin my private pilot training soon (not sure exactly when thanks to COVID but hopefully late 2020 early 2021) and will begin producing 4k video of my entire flight training. If you’re interested in that, stay tuned. If you like Porsche, follow P1D on UA-cam. Pilot and massive Porsche fanatic!

    Tom Watson used to have a tournament at Stanford Univ. golf course every year that a lot of the tour pros would play in before the tour went to Napa Ca. It was good because there were no ropes and the spectators could walk right next to the players. I saw Forrest Fezler play.

    Very interesting. Ten years later in 1984, Greg Norman made three all-world scrambling pars in the U.S. Open on this same stretch of holes (16-18) at Winged Foot, and ended up tied with Fuzzy Zoeller. Here, in 1974, Fezler was not so fortunate, but he sure gave it a go.

    An incredibly tough course, and consider the gear they're using. Real woods, irons with butter-knife blades and balata balls. Most of us would struggle to break 100 with such constraints.

    Forrest played baseball for Fezler Farms in San Jose back in the late 60's. His family sponsored the team. He was a pitcher with a quirky delivery who often double pumped his delivery. We played our games at James Lick High School, the alma mater of Raider Jim Plunkett, Rudy Renteria and Hughes.
