i honestly think valve should just make a ps vita. i dont want a handheld that weighs a pound and a half that can run triple a games, i want something that fits in my pocket and can run binding of isaac and balatro when im on the bus or something

If you want 4k ultra or 120 fps 165 fps then yes you do. I have ROG ally brand new doesn't mean I don't prefer my PC when at home. I passed on the legion go. early adopters have issues.

A purchase almost impossible in price to be as little as $100 to equal the PS Portal’s price difference in total) PS Portal: $199 Each accessory here is priced as an accessory that is an addition to the PS5 console with a focused objectionable function for the users need. None of these accessories are made to be required to play your PS5, but expand your functionality and experience using your PS5 if you own one. The PS Portal is priced the same as the DualSense Edge’s Pro focused controller, but replaces those enhanced controller upgrades for an 8” 1080p 60fps touchscreen for simply streaming the PS5 video output directly to your controller. That simple objective should be enough to decide if you need this accessory or not. Compared to the DualSense Edge Controller, you should be able to easily understand the value of controller advance inputs versus a controller that receives video output. The PS Portal is lighter in weight compared to something like a Steam Deck, handles and feels the exact same as a DualSense, cheaper in price compared to other devices able to play the same caliber of game quality and fidelity, yet is simply a premium controller priced at $199. In the end, this device isn’t for everyone but is definitely something that doesn’t need to be argued about if it is great or completely stupid. The PS Portal has one of the most reasonable price points for exactly what it does and easily comparable to other premium controller’s price and functions. It’s less of an argument of why the hell did Sony release this product; and more simply, does it meet your needs or not? If it doesn’t you can easily move on without loathing seeing those who decided that it does. It is a Premium Controller through and through that doesn’t exaggerate what it is, nor does it hide any of its true life limits of capabilities. It’s a Controller that has an additional 8” Screen for $199. I think for those who are waiting for reviews on the Portal will just find that it’s a controller that provides an elite experience using the Remote Play function, End of story. The only conclusion from reviews I see people finding is, it the PS Portal a purchase that is right for your wallet?

As a parent with kids I had been wishing for exactly a Dual Sense split in half with a good screen in between and I got basically exactly what I had hoped for when it was announced. The kids like to watch morning cartoons etc on the TV at the weekend, so any gaming for me is on hold at that point. Now I will be able to get in a couple of matches of FIFA, a few dungeons on Diablo 4, a couple of races on GT7 or another escape attempt on Hades, all with the haptics. I pre-ordered straight away and the 15th Nov cannot come soon enough!

If remote play itself can solve the disconnection problem when PS5 need a software update (this currently exist and remote play can’t connect until you go back home to be physically with the PS5 to update it). But other than that, solid connection, extreme low latency (my feeling is 20-50ms range) for at least FPS for some PvE content. Then it is the stick drift. Will it be same as Dual Sense ? Or different? But my bet is Sony will use exact same components for the stick to keep cost low. Problem is stick will drift after 500hours and cannot be replaced.

Me….this is being made specifically for me. The only question is am I going to be able to afford it.

For me, everythinf will come down to input lag/latency. I bought one since 200 is pretty cheap to take a swing at. I prwfer playing handheld 100x more even when at home so this will be amazing for me if it works well enoufhb

I was hesitant about getting it. I really liked the vita despite its issues. But maybe streaming games isnt so bad. I kinda like having to play on my bed and moving around. If its true that i only need wifi and can access my ps5 half away around the world even, maybe thats not so bad, although i rarely play games outside of my home

The biggest letdown is that I don't think it'll able to work without the Ps5 being on. If so, they missed a huge opportunity by letting us turn the console on and off from the portable.

This device is for people who are to lazy to move to the next room to play their PlayStation and this is for married people who have wives who are jealous that they are in another room playing video games.

The only thing is holding me back is that it doesn’t have back paddles for remapping!!! I’m a modified controller user and I don’t even use my original dual senses at all!! I just love to remap buttons the way more comfortable to me and sadly, that accesorio fell short on that department!!!

The hill that I will die on is that the N64 was an important generational turning point, but also that it has aged the absolute worst of all the mainline consoles. Upscaled N64 is still often painful to look at, whereas upscaled PS1 looks perfectly acceptable in my view.

What if Xbox came out with its own handheld will it out do play stations

I love how we're being conditioned to be ok with extremely expensive handhelds. Before $399 was too much. Fast forward to now. "ITS ONLY $750 GUYS!!!" lol. fast forward a year or two "Its only $1200 guys!!!" Yeah no thanks. the shits still a handheld idgaf if it has 1tb storage. give us a low cost option and let us easily upgrade the storage with SSDs and SD cards since they're cheap af now.

I ordered one. I have over 200 ps4/ps5 games. Now for less than a buck a game, I have a portable version of everything single game. That's a bargain.

I've got a backbone for my s23 but u can't wait for the portal. The screen size upgrade alone is worth it for me and the added bonus of the dualsense haptics and adaptive triggers is huge

Dude battery banks exist, and if your bringing that handheld with you on the go... your already bringing a backpack or bag, put a battery bank in it, get your self a 1.2 meter magnetically attaching USB C cable so you don't damage the port and use the battery bank as you go. To be fair those magnetically attaching cables and only ususally do 22 - 35W, but tha is going to at least extend your play time significantly.

The idea of this seems to be for the household with one tv. What is this, 1980? What household still only has 1 tv? TV are cheap nowadays. Or just get a cheap hi-res monitor. I really don't get the point of this device.
