How To Use Sandwich/Flipple Technique to Help Your Baby Latch
I pump right after breastfeeding my baby for 15 minutes, I breastfeed both breasts ! And my baby cluster feeds in morning and evening! I get around 70-150 mil except at night, that's when our milk is at its peak!!
This video absolutely saved my life. The idea that chestfeeding hurts is so permeated into our culture that people often dont second guess when our shoulders are up to our ears and we are in tears. Thank you, a hundred times. My baby and I now have an excellent and comfortable latch thanks to you. 💜
@@Crucis119 you are so welcome. Thank you for taking the time to comment - you’ve made my day! 🙏🏻
Thanks so much. This made my breastfeeding kick off to a confident start and we are still going well 9 weeks later.
my baby is already 5month old. can i still fix her shallow latching..?
Amazingly helpful video!!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
@@kayyydeeee you’re welcome! Thanks for taking the time to comment 🧡
Do you recommend using the hand on the breast to compress the breast and help the milk get out? Like massaging the breast while baby is feeding?
@@searaph yes absolutely. This can be really helpful!
@alissabrownibclc thank you so much for your reply!
@@searaph you’re welcome :)
BEAUTIFUL BABY
Do you have to pump 5 -7 times at 14 months?
@@melgrove9819 no. At this stage most women are less sensitive to longer periods between feeds/pumps. If you’re away from your baby then just pump the same number of times they would usually feed roughly. (just as an example - my youngest is 16 months and in a 9 hour work day I now only pump once. At home she’d usually feed twice)
That toddler broke into your home.

thank you! One more question: I believe you mentioned that you freeze the colostrum after collection, yes? When ready to use, how long do you need to thaw for?
@@dxbarahona1 if it’s in 1-2ml syringes then it doesn’t take long to thaw at all. Often only 10-15 mins depending on room temp or you can hold it in your hand to warm it up quicker!
You just save my nipples ❤ thank you finally I was able to understand after several private lactation consults, I think you explained the same, but in a way I was able to understand and catch the position!! I’m really thankful to found your video 🙏🏼
@@mindfulpoleacademy3406 you’re welcome! ☺️ I’m so glad it helped!
Thanks for your video! How much colostrum should I try to collect before baby arrives?
@@dxbarahona1 you don’t need to aim for a particular amount, just as much as you wish. For a rough guide on the first day of life baby may only have 1-2ml per feed :) this will increase over the first few days.
Hi mam...I am a one month feeding mother...I am trying to breastfeed this method..while start to nurse he was crying a lot and his hands are placing my breast and his mouth..what should to do?
Thank you for the lovely explanation. I wonder about when holding the baby on the rugby position, as you cannot hold the breast with the same hand side of the feeding breast, as you have to hold the baby with that arm. Do then hold the breast sandwich shape with the other hand? The nipple then points to the other direction. Is that correct?
@@jessicatravepuyal9929 you’re welcome! Yes absolutely in the rugby hold or cradle hold you can use the opposite hand to support the breast but nipple always points up towards baby’s nose :)
My baby can open her mouth wide but my breast would just slip to her mouth even after taking it whole. Im crying of frustration on how my baby can latch. 😢 we’ve been trying 1000x today
@@RuthPH this could be a number of things - if tongue function isn’t optimum (as in tongue tie) then this can explain baby slipping back as she’s unable to maintain latch, trying different positions where you are more reclined/using gravity to hold her close to you and doing some of that work for her would be worth trying, or something like a star gazing hold.
If not much is coming out when you're hand expressing can you use a pump?
@@bellatrix336 most mums find that the small amounts get lost in a pump at this stage, and the stronger stimulation from a pump is more likely to cause uterine contractions. Don’t panic if you’re not getting much out though. It doesn’t mean you won’t have enough once baby is born :)
My baby is now 13 weeks but I still have low breast milk supply only 15/20 ml
@@bhaktipatel-y8h it would be worth seeing an IBCLC to help find the route cause :)
Is it too late to increase milk supply after 3 months
@@bhaktipatel-y8h it very much depends what your breastfeeding journey was like initially, how well your supply was stimulated and what the root cause of the low supply is. It’s not impossible but determining what’s causing it will be the first step.
Babies have enjoyed the warmth inside the womb ... all they crave is the warmth of its mother and be held🥰

I slept with the baby sheet under my shirt and then put baby in crib. My scent was all over. Maybe that will work.

Hai. Is it possible to make a video on how to get a deeper latch with cradle hold position? How to anchor baby’s chin to our breast in this position?
@@NoraisyahMuhamad I’ll add that to my list!
This was an absolute game changer for me. Thank you so much, I am using these tips now and I no longer have toe curling pain when my baby latches. My nipples are starting to heal. The only problem I am having is getting comfortable since I don’t start with him on a pillow now and it’s tough to keep him launched while trying to push pillows under him. Any suggestions?
@@amandabarnard1344 that’s great that it’s helping you! If it’s easier to add some support before you can, but aim to just have it under your wrist/hand and not behind his head. I love using a rolled bath towel for this, makes a perfect sausage shaped prop which can just be under your wrist/arm but doesn’t get in the way of his head. Or once you’ve got him latched just recline back in the chair - that way gravity helps to hold him close and you don’t need the additional support :)
@ thanks. Now that has some time has gone by is back to toe curling pain when he latches and my nipples are hurting constantly again. Not sure what changed from when I first tried this, it’s weird because i feel like I’m still doing the same thing 😞
What a great tip! Saved my hands from constant pain. Thanks so much!

I know you said reach out to a IBCLC if these tips don’t help. But as an IBCLC, what do I do when these tips still don’t help my son get a deeper latch? He’s 3 weeks, dentist said there’s no tongue tie. He chomps down on my nipples and they’re flat when I pull them from his mouth. He only open his mouth wide for a quick second. And even when I follow these instructions it still hurts. Any advice?
@@brejenn so if baby is struggling to open a wide mouth it may be tension in neck/jaw - check out this video EASY exercises to help your baby take a DEEP LATCH ua-cam.com/video/t_iYSaXwrKM/v-deo.html Also - you may like to get a second opinion on the tongue from an IBCLC who has specialist training in tongue tie. For a baby of this age it’s much more likely to be related to jaw tension/tongue restriction. Check out these two videos which will be helpful! ua-cam.com/video/jAASIwSYdI8/v-deo.htmlsi=0yx--Qi-CgGD6ZfD ua-cam.com/video/t_iYSaXwrKM/v-deo.htmlsi=nDAuT7yqK-uyY9rU

What can i do to encourage a baby open widely when she is near the nose and that have a good latch? If she is hold in that position what she does is suck in the part she has near and doesn’t try to open to get the nipple
@@anacastro5137 firstly is to always make sure you’re not putting pressure on the back of her head with your hand/arm. She needs to be able to tip her head back to open a wide mouth. This video has some tips you might find useful EASY exercises to help your baby take a DEEP LATCH ua-cam.com/video/t_iYSaXwrKM/v-deo.html
This should be common sense. Pumping on empty/not fully full is the best way to increase ur supply. Even if you get nothing. That signals to your brain that more milk needs to be made. I also reccomend power pumping. Pump for 20 rest for 10, pump for 10, rest for 10, pump for 10. I reccomend doing this first thing in the morning on ur first pump. Do this everyday for a full week or 5 days. You WILL see a huge difference. OR if the morning doesn’t work for u. Do it during an afternoon or night pump. However I find morning/afternoon is the best!!
Thank you so much mam 🙏🙏🙏😊
@@5factstoknow322 you’re welcome!
Thanks for letting me know - I’ll look into that. Yes it can be - it really depends on how well established your supply was to begin with.
Thank you for this video, it’s amazing. I’m getting a deeper latch but everytime I let go off breast to hold baby I loose the latch and baby slips off. Am I doing something wrong?
@@quds0587 that’s great to hear it’s helped. @@quds0587 so there’s a few things that could be going on here.
