Can you make a video of your application to show what a matriculants application looks like? Really considering UQ because i really like the ochsner system and would love to stay here for residency and after.
The supply and demand chart was backwards btw
For those coming across this video today. If you are a US citizen, it would be far more preferable to take a couple years to prepare your application before applying and considering US DO programs before ANY international program, regardless of prestige. Literally, almost any US DO school would be preferable to even the most prestigious international school (not sure which school that would be). If you plan to practice medicine in the US, you want to strategize in the context of what will give you the best chance of matching into a US residency program. US DO Schools now have a 90+ percent match rate which is far better than the ~50% match rate of international applicants. I often see people choose international programs because they feel pressured to enter medical school as soon as possible. For traditional applicants this may come from family pressure, for career changers this pressure may come from feeling "behind" due to their older age. I'm starting medical school next year at a US MD program and I'll be 27 on the first day of classes. I've met multiple people on the interview trail in their 30s. US schools are considering more and more non-traditional applicants every year. You may hear people throw around the saying "Medicine isn't a sprint, it's a marathon." This saying couldn't be more true. Take your time, line up your shot, and get into a US program whether MD/DO, and you will have a FAR greater chance of practicing medicine in the US. Matching is the end goal, and you want to maximize your chances of matching. Respond to this comment and I'd be happy to discuss this topic further.
Some people HAVE to go overseas, so the video is right, the best Img is a great question
Thanks so much for the educational video! Do you happen to know anything about the European University of Cyprus, Frankfurt branch? This particular branch started in 2022 and it is fully accredited by WFME, ECFMG, and USMLE. I'm highly considering this as an option, but with wanting to come back to the US for residency I am still unsure.
Helloooo, which materials did you use to prepare for Step1?
One correction I have is that Kusonoki wouldn't start value'ing his life and his choices more if he only had less time. He changes because Miyagi enters his life, finally someone by his side, someone who cares about him and they connect. So it's not as much about realising that your time is limited, but about having right people around who you can cherish experience with. Problem is not everyone will find their Miyagi. And it's kinda depressing.
Where is the best place to rent in NO to be close to Ochsner?
Lotta people do Elmwood or Warehouse District, gonna need a car either way because Ochsner is so spread out tho and sometimes rotations are at satellite hospitals or clinics
@@frankmsimon Any advice for someone who can’t drive? I have a wife who drives but not sure how that’s going to work…😅
That's a great hat!! Nice video, except I fast forwarded through the driving. It's nice that you showed the cost. Don't ever beat yourself up over having a wonderful experience and spending a bit too much doing it. In the end, in years down the road, you'll remember the event much more than the cost. I watched because I'm going to see a launch during a vacation in Oct. It will be the highlight of the trip. Take care ,young man and don't lose that hat!!
Thanks for your videos! Cause of you I'm interviewing at Ochsner soon
Good luck!
Hey! I have a question about the book's binding: Is it sewn or glued?
Is that tuition for the entire program or per year?😮
Also, is there a website for all Med schools and how to find out their graduation rates matching rates into residencies in the Us?
How did you afford paying for it?
Congratulations on finishing your first 2 years!!!
I recently read it. My life will never be the same now. I’m genuinely going to live now.
i'm so proud of you :>
One of my nephews went to med school in France and very soon he will take the USMLE to be able to get a surgery fellowship in the US. He grew up in France but he is bilingual so he won't have any trouble. it is so much cheaper to become a doctor over there but it is very hard to get into med school. You need to pass a super tough exam after high school.
Did you apply to DO schools?
Thank you sooo much for your help. I am curious which international med school is best for getting into Gen Surg residency in the US after med school. Appreciate it.
Mainly depends on the individual from my perspective, the school can give you opportunities but it’s up to you in the end, I’d say check out the match list for whatever school you’re looking at though
Awesome, man! I'm glad to see you're moving along.
Thank you 😁
@frankmsimon Np. I'll ll be applying next year
Good luck!
If you are residing in the US and want to practice medicine in US after becoming a physician. Stay away from International med schools.
My husband is an MD went to international medical school did the USMLE and has been practicing for 20 years here in the US. Actually there is about 5,000 US MD’s who graduated from his school practicing medicine here.
the landscape have changed. Dramatically, what your husband went through 20-30 years ago is no longer applicable in 2024. Run through some statistics and trends.
There are 6+ Schools in Poland that have Med School in English.
Hey Frank, Im a big fan of your vids, been followings since last year! Im also a first year Ochsner right now, Id love to know if youd be open to a short Zoom call to elaborate on your experiences! Please let me know
Sure thing, shoot me a DM on insta or fb
I miss you bud, I'm so glad to see you successful <3 please dont forget about me and deidra. Love you dude.
Hey Frank great video! I had a question unrelated to the video. I was considering going to Australia for med school and wanted to know your opinion on going to med schools other than the UQ-Ochsner program. I can’t go to the UQ-Ochsner program since I’m not a US citizen. I want to practice in the US but I like the safety of staying back and practicing in Australia in case I don’t match compared to other international med schools. Also do you think the content from the classes prepares you sufficiently for doing well on the Steps?
Oof, hard to say honestly since my only experience is with UQ-O, in general though any MD degree from a med school should get you the chance to take STEP 1 + 2 for US residency applications and Aussie schools are a good option. As far as STEP content, I’d like to say that Aussie med schools would prep you enough, but the reality is that STEP is just its own beast, definitely need to study for it specifically. I’d prbl say the same thing even if someone was going to a US school. Hope that helps!
wish you all the best for remaining years!
Thank you!
Please keep us updated. This is an interesting perspective.
Will do!
You made the right choice🎉
I've checked the UQ-Ochsner program online and it seems like they do require an undergraduate degree prior to entrance. Is this the case?
Yea, they ask for an undergraduate degree. They also have some specific prerequisite classes on their site I believe.
Thank you@@frankmsimon
AMAZING video. Thank you so much for sharing your research. It was really helpful
How long does it take to charge the batteries up
I’ll be starting in January- and I already feel behind because I have no idea what anki is? Please help!
You’ll be alright, ankis pretty simple to figure out, I’ll try to make a video on how I’ve been going about it
Does the APOLLO/SATURN V Premium Launch Transportation Ticket ( $70) inlcude general admission into the rest of the space center? If not I think it would be $75 for general admission and $70 for this ticket to see the launch, which is quite pricey!
I got accepted at RCSI, Trinity, Dublin University, KAU(Saudi) All MBBS and i chose kau for it's high ranking
KAU is the best school in the Middle east too idk why you didn't mention it😅 it's ranked 1st in MENA and in both Medicne and as a whole And 98 world wide
is it based in Jeddah? how much does it cost to study MEd at KAU?
I had no idea of 80% of the things you said, loved it ❤
Chernobyl was a really good movie. There's also a really good drama miniseries on Chernobyl too. All this stuff is scary. It's crazy that the atomic was even allowed to be made. All over war 🤦🏾♂️ Awesome video man! Great information !
I love that Chernobyl mini series! 10/10
@@frankmsimon same! And I agree 👏🏾
thanks for the info!
No problem!
which is best ? Joining SGU in Grenada or RCSI?
SGU
@@Spicytots5 can u specify why?
Depends what you want. SGU has no research of any consequence and is not a real university in the same sense as RCSI which has established research programs and is world ranked. Pass rates on USMLE exams are similar so you need to look into both and see if either are what you are looking for.
Just want to add the latest QS WUR ranks the RCSI in the top 200 medical schools in the world.
always go to ireland, its at least a real uni.
I'm going to check this book out. Thanks, man!
Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you this helped a lot, especially the part of where to watch and what I would need to know to see it and the specifics with time.
Glad it helped!

This is actually so good. I read 3 days of happiness around 4 yrs ago, but your explanation is much more amazing and better than what I had thought about the book, it has given it a new meaning.❤
Thank you I’m glad to hear that 😁
Why no med schools in mexico? There's a great one in Monterrey where my family is from.
He did not do a good job of researching. UAG in Mexico gets Financial Aid and is a top medical school in Mexico producing thousands of Md's for >50 years. Don't always believe everything you hear and do your own research!!
Because we dont want to get tortured by the cartel😂
