Interestingly, quartz is the last mineral to remain liquid upon cooling, making it a "pore fluid", then at cooler temperatures solidifies to a "cement". Going in the direction from offshore mud to rock, quartz again becomes a cement by pressure solution. Google " Proposed Model for Shale Compaction Kinetics" and "Shale Compaction Kinetics: Parameter Sensitivity to a Range of Assumed Deposition Rates".
Thanks alot! Understood everything in simple terms 😊 It seemed hard while reading textbooks!!
If this man has 0 fans I am dead
You are the best
Really helpful and interesting video, thanks a lot ✨
The big delta notation was first used in the study of oxygen isotopes of meteorites by the way.
Sir I currently studying geology bachelor, in India Your video really help me a lot Can u pls make a book suggestion video for self study in geology
You made it easy and simpler. Thank you
How do you project your own experimental liquids on this projections? Any useful softwares?
This is very helpful.. Thank you..
merci pour cette vidéo c'est une vraie mine d'or (un peu comme celles dans le Yukon chez vous les américains(piou piou))

Very nice explanation
Excelente explicación. I got it, and it's not my language. Nice job.
I'm truly grateful ... Thank you so much ( watching you from Jordan 🇯🇴 )
Sir is their any way to speak to u about a doubt I have in this example 2. Is it so that after the liquid at eutectic is totally consumed why is the green sytem mark evolving and not the yellow point on which we are eventually discussing the discontinuous reaction l=cristobalite + enstatite. ?? wont that point move down after F=1? 5:32 If all my liquid gets consumed to form the eutectic mixture what will remain in the system ?? If nothing remains in the system how can it evolve further equilibrium conditions😅 I know Im missing out on some minor point or concept but really very anxious to find the missing piece. It would be a great favour if you help me to clear the doubt🙏❤❤❤❤❤
A trace element is one that does not occur as a stoichiometric component an any mineral phase. It can be assumed that they follow Henry's law -- but if they don't they're not trace elements.
really helpful. thank you so much
You r so good🙏.. Please continue uploading such videos.. Very well explained
Thank you felt very lost before this and it has helped me a lot!
I don't understand why calc-alkaline liquid line of descent is straight. If the Magnetite is crystallizing why the composition doens't moves towards M? Why it stays constant between M and F while moving towards A?
Very wonderful course! Do you use Petrolog 3 or melts? There are few teaching videos of this kind of software on the Internet! I really hope you can record teaching videos, thank you very much!
Hi! Thank you so much for making these really informative videos. So much easier to follow than the AZtec manual. I was wondering if you had a video that preceded this one covering how to set up a full quant Point & ID session using secondary standards. Our lab is just getting started and the documentation for how to implement user specified secondary standards is super unclear. Thanks!
Can I get the equilibrium melting
Good lessons, thank you for your best explanation.

At the very end of your video, you have 100 percent solid but still some weight fraction liquid, I'm just curious how the system evolves from there.
Thank you
Plzz make vid for diopside forsterite silica ternary system. Plzzzzz plzzz
Hi William, I was wondering if there is any method to export the featured image in a binary file to process in other software
Hello - great query and there is currently no easy solution. Well, you can export the montaged images as a standard BSE to process in ImageJ, but you cannot export cleanly with annotated features.
Thank you sir, this means a lot!!
Thank you for making this video. Preparing for an exam soon. It was super helpful 🙏
Your videos are great man, keep doing what you're doing !
Your Instagram !?
Thank you sir, you help me more than my professor 3 weeks of lectures
Why do we draw a line from the enstatite end member tbrough the system? Why do it dodging the peritectic point?
can you please gives sources for your information? e.g. for the interpretation of Eu/Eu* or Ce/Ce* values, thanks
What happens if you start at the top of Enstatite at 1587 degree and cool it?
Faites une vidéo sur la modélisation des sources des liquides avec les lois de Rayleigh pour la fusion partielle, la cristallisation fractionnée et le mélange magmatique
3:53 this simple move made me understand this concept that I wasted a whole day for trying to understand
Thank you 💪
Thank you! I looked specifically at interpreting the Concordia diagram (U-Pb) and the animations really helped it click for me! :D😀
Hello! I’m having a bit of trouble understanding what you mean when you say you remove one of the products from the system during fractional crystallization/melting. How does a product get removed from a system and what would this look like?
One way is that the solid products, once formed, will sink to the bottom because of density difference with the liquid. For example, once Olivine crystallizes out of a melt, the melt becomes more silicic than it was prior to the crystallization of Olivine, and olivine, being mafic and therefore more dense than the silicic melt, sinks to the bottom. If the liquid migrates to another location leaving these olivine crystals, the crystals are said to have been "removed" from the system (the liquid).
