The Dreamcast had good games but it's a long forgotten console the only games people today might recognize if they hear about that console would be the 2 Sonic Adventure games but even those 2 games are almost died out the Dreamcast is almost on the verge of becoming as un recognizable as the Philips Cdi

You're not using physical discs, and you don't even have a VMU. So what's the point of using real hardware instead of an emulator? It's not like the Saturn, which is difficult to emulate.

I would adore an SPM remake, its 100% my favorite entry in the paper series, even though I know a lot of people aren't huge fans of it.. maybe it's my nostalgia speaking since SPM is probably the one i remember the most about from playing it in my childhood, and watching my siblings play it lol

You can actually play online with dreamcast, with a contraption called dreampi, which uses a raspberry pi, i highly reccommend you look more into it.

Never grew up with a Dreamcast as a kid. So, I can't really resonate with a lot of people's childhood experiences with one. However, here's my little anecdote of buying a Dreamcast. I bought a Dreamcast off Ebay back in June for £81.90. Console, Cables, Controller, VMU. I also bought a few games from CeX so I wouldn't be stuck with just Sonic Adventure and Resident Evil - Code: Veronica. That said, one thing I began to notice when I started actually using the Dreamcast is that I would experience a few visual oddities and slowdown after a long while of actually using the console (I can estimate about half an hour into using the console). Same experience with every game; from Sonic Adventure, to Tony Hawk's Skateboarding (Pro Skater. Sorry, I'm British), I would always get the same issues. Even if I put in regular music CDs, I would get the visual issues and slowdown. Still, whenever I would turn the console off and leave it for an estimated 15 to 20 minutes, and then power the console back on, it would work like normal... then it would start acting up again. I don't know what's causing the issue, but I am considering on seeking out someone who knows what the issue is and how to fix it (Assuming there is a fix).

Fun fact: there actually kind of IS a way to restore online functionality. The community has actually made a thing called “DreamPi” which has brought back online mutliplayer to certain Dreamcast games (although, it doesn’t restore all online features… like the special events for Sonic Adventure)

Holy shit you got ripped off. A Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure together (with an official controller and VMU) should cost around how much the Dreamcast was at that one store.

Before you by a Dreamcast game make sure to check the back of the disc for a sega logo to make sure it’s authentic

The excess heat you mentioned is not the GDEMU but because the GDEMU doesn't draw from he 12 volt circuit the power supply will run hot. I've seen tell that you can remove that voltage regulator but I'm guessing your skill set doesn't include soldering (yet) so replacing the power supply might be a better bet.

im 6 and when i was 8 i became a sonic fan because nobody liked me and i really related to the character tails because i was also bullied, when i was 13 i got a sega dreamcast and it is now a good luck charm for me because when i got it my life started to get better! i really love the dreamcast because it makes me happy! i hope whoevers reading this and is thinking of getting a dreamcast buys one! i highly reccomend!

I have just finished Origami King, I love the game, but the battle rotating system thingy is HORRIBLE, I’ve almost quit finishing the game because of it. But I promised myself I would only play TTYD if I wrapped up 100% of OK. Now I’m ready for a new adventure :)

Not buying a memory card for your child's game console is child abuse.

You also got to make sure the discs you buy don't have disc rot, many people don't know about it. The way Sega made their discs made the discs succom to rot. If you see a sort of a very visible circle around the disc then it's most likely disc rot. Also, most GDROM drives need their capacitors changed, which requires know how. Some ebay users sell GDROM drives with capacitors already changed and they worked perfectly.

Palisades Center right???? Where in the mall is it? Everytime I went there, I never saw it. And if any game I would recommend, I would recommend Sonic Adventure 2, Q-BERT, Crazy Taxi, Jet-Grind Radio, Ms. Pac Man Maze Madness, and Daytona.

Just bought mine... Again .. a couple weeks ago. $130 with all sega cables, and proper controller. Licked up a vmh for $20 and shenmue for $30. Do yourself a favor and use price charting. Gives current retail value etc, so you dont get screwed.

New console thing i had an issue with : so i got my XBOX one from when i was a little younger and when i booted it up i noticed i hadnt rememebered any of the logins to the accounts so.. i made my own new account, although booting up the console the next day the acount got deactivated and it wouldnt let me reactivate it and it wouldnt let me make more accounts i mean it would let me but when i made them the same issue would happen, im thinking of just doing a hard reset to fix the issue

I own two of those AstroPads. They’re horrible! A good alternative to the original is the StrikerDC.

I'd recommend the Sega Saturn, doesn't have any Sonic games, but it's still a great console. I'd really recommend the Panzer Dragoon series, Zwei and Saga especially, they're really unique and hold up really well today (though they're stupid expensive, so might want to look into er, alternatives) and Gradius Gaiden is a great sh'mup, hard as nails but still great. Really wish I hadn't sold the Saturn I bought as a teenager for like fifty bucks, that thing was awesome even though I only had one game for it.
