Переглядів 37 тис.3 роки тому
I’ve ignored a lot of silver plated items due to their condition and having seen a number of UA-cam videos on cleaning silver and silver plate, I thought I’d give it a go on two pieces! One is using Bicarbonate or Baking Soda and the other is cleaned with Soda Crystals. What will they end up like? Take a look at the video to find out!

Can you still make money as an Antiques Dealer - A follow up and update, how much did we make?
Переглядів 813 роки тому
An update to our last video where we listed on eBay a number of lots that have been ‘sat around gathering dust’ to see how much a relatively small outlay can bring in! The previous video shows the full selection which cost around £60 in total and the majority have now sold, did we make any profit! Following this there will be a series of videos showing me buy cheap vintage and antiques items an...
Is the Antiques market dead? Or can you still make money as an Antiques Dealer?
Переглядів 883 роки тому
Recently I’ve spoken to a lot of people and seen a number of comments on other channels saying that the antiques market is over! So I thought I’d go ‘back to basics’ and run an experiment with some items I’ve previously bought and not tried to sell, some leftovers of job lots and general lower end items to see how quickly they’ll sell and what they bring in! Join me in this video as we take a l...

One of my personal favourite pieces is this 1912 Silver Pin Dish, with the Silver Dish made by Sanders and Mackenzie in Birmingham and the inset Royal Worcester porcelain roundel has been hand painted by James Stinton. James Stinton was a famous Royal Worcester artist who specialised in Gamebirds and the detail on this is absolutely amazing! I hope you enjoy the video, please give us a like and...

Переглядів 914 роки тому
I wanted to let you guys know the reasons why I prefer selling with auctions on eBay rather than the usual Buy It Now. Plus, I'm running an experiment over the next 7 days on two identical items to see whether auction or buy it bows gets the most interest, and most importantly the best result! Please check out the results video when it is released!

How Tough Is Wedgwood Jasperware? Cleaning A Jasperware Trinket Box

    I would give those silver items a good polish with Silvo. They may come out as new, or close to it.

    I thrifted a used silver plated serving tray, it was extremely tarnished. I cleaned it with a 'non scratch scrubbing gel'. after rinsing I noticed the silver on a few edges were worn away. It may have been that way previously, or it may have happened when I cleaned it. Thats alright, the tray was just $10, I can deal with it. In the past, Ive used toothpaste its very convenient and easy to use. I prefer toothpaste. Although your method appears to be most effective! You should have shown the final polished results. I dont know what soda crystals are or where to get them in the US. 🇺🇸

    So, I have a question…if you’re not happy with the end bid on your item, are you obligated to sell it and can you ask for a starting price?

    • @wardantiques933
      @wardantiques933 2 роки тому

      You do set a starting price and can set a reserve as well. Once the auction is ended I guess you can cancel the sale, however you would have to pay the fee and your account would probably be blacklisted so a reserve would be the best way to go!

    Royal Commemoratives go in and out of favour and the market is flooded however as a Royal commemorative collector myself, I decided to narrow my scope to newer items produced by the Royal Collection (Buckingham Palace Shop) simply because the quality is great and the designs are timeless. I always suggest people watch out for slag glass items commemorating the 1878 landing of the Marquess of Lorne and his wife, Princess Louise (daughter of Queen Victoria) at Halifax, N.S. in Canada where he was installed as Governor General. This range comes in a variety of colours and styles and is becoming scarce.
