Fishermen RAPPEL into remote location (Fly Fishing)
#Fishhaus #Flyfishing #Rappelling
Wipe off your feet, grab a seat, welcome to the FishHaus.
While skimming threw Google Maps I found a 5 mile long gorge with a promising looking river at its base. Convinced a couple good friends to help me make my way down in there so I could fish what may be a place no one has ever fished.
Thanks for watching!

#FlyFishing #Uintas #FishHaus Wipe off your feet, pull up a seat, welcome to the FishHaus. I never really fish from shore with a fly rod but I figured I'd give it a shot. A lot of missed hook ups but ended up landing a couple trout. I'm still stretching my legs with this channel, bear with me while I figure this UA-cam thing out. Thanks for watching.

      For this specific creek I would look for the shortest rod you can find, or even better, a stick with line attached to it. If you're asking about rod manufacturers, Redington Path's are a great rod for the money. 4wt should cover any type of river trout fishing in Utah.

    Love YNP and especially the Madison, Soda Butte and Lamar. I’ve found that a 4 to 5 wt works best with a Floating Line (no sink tip). I’ll use my Orvis Superfine Carbon 8 ft. 4 wt. on Soda Butte and Lamar. And my Winston Boron IIIX 8’6” 4 wt.or my Scott G2 8’9” 5 wt. The Lamar can get windy and the Winston works best in the wind. I’ll use my Orvis Superfine Touch 7’6” 3 wt. on some of the smaller streams like the Gibbon and Galiton. Favorite time to go there is in September and almost always use a hopper with a gold ribbed midge dropper. Nice vid! Always dry fly fishing there for me. Tight lines!

    • @fishhaus2644

    • @kgm4368
      @kgm4368 2 роки тому

      There’s nothing bad about a 17-18” Brown. Most of my favorite days fishing is catching 12” McCloud Rainbows at Crane Creek in MO. And even smaller Brookies in New England. Sometimes just being on the river is enough. At least for me. Been fly fishing for over 50 years now. Still haven’t had a bad day on the river.

      @@kgm4368 Absolutely, my favorite spot here in Utah holds 8-12" cutthroats, with an occasional brown, but it's not the size that matters. The spot is secluded, water is calm, only sound is birds and the wind rustling the grass and trees. I'll take a day there over any packed blue ribbon fishery pressured with dozens of other anglers.

    Great vid! Two ideas for better survival of catch and release trout: 1. Use an underwater camera to take your pics with the fish in the water and 2. Use a no-touch catch and release tool, so you never have to handle the fish. TU recommends both of these (never touching the fish and never taking them out of the water) for the best success at survival. I use the "Ketchum Release" tool myself, slides right down the line and unpins the fly effortlessly. Tight lines!!!

    • @fishhaus2644
      @fishhaus2644 3 роки тому

      I'll have to check out that tool. I've tried multiple cameras in the past, I found it to be a hassle fumbling around 2-3 cameras, the fish end up sitting in the net longer when I'm struggling to get cameras set up.

    Fun vid. But a sucker? That is the native Mountain whitefish, son. The Mountain whitefish "is one of the most widely distributed salmonid fish of western North America.[2] It is found from the Mackenzie River drainage in Northwest Territories, Canada south through western Canada and the northwestern USA in the Pacific, Hudson Bay and upper Missouri River basins to the Truckee River drainage in Nevada and Sevier River drainage in Utah.[3]" Tight lines! • @fishhaus2644

    You're close, the logan is actually a tributary to the Bear River. About 10,000 years ago the Bear River flowed into the Snake River. However, after lava flows near Blackfoot Idaho, the Bear River was rerouted into the Great Basin. In fact, the Bear River contributes the majority of the water to the Great Salt Lake.

    After fishing this reservoir a half dozen times I finally caught the Bonneville Cutthroat......and the footage was corrupted. After a brief existential crisis I got back out there and caught an other Bonne...and this time the footage was usable. Enjoy.

    Me and Chesney had a blast on the Logan River, nothing beats fishing with a friend.

    Ohhh boy this fish was not easy to find.....or film, won't be strapping the GoPro to my chest again with a creek that size.
