No other way to put it. "Wokeness," killed this series. Why are Moiraine and Siuan lesbians? Can't they just have a normal platonic friendship? This alone made this series quite disgusting and detracted from their mission. Did nobody even read the written series? Why are so many Two Rivers characters blackwashed? Do they not think the world of WoT is diverse enough? Why is Lan a small asian guy? They wanted to race-swap yet another character for seemingly no reason, again I ask, do they not think the world of WoT is diverse enough? If they just wanted to write their own fantasy show about ethnically diverse magical mary-sues, why didn't they just do that? Why did they have to destroy something great to make something bad?

Read the first book and haven't moved on to the second yet but I saw the show was coming and watched a couple of episodes and it was immediately clear even only having read one book they had no idea what they were doing

BS's point about "the heroes need each other" is basically the entire point of WoT. Saidin/Saidar only achieve their potential when working together, Rand nearly destroys the world by thinking he has to do everything alone, Moirane, Nyneave, Egwene, Siuan, Lan, Mat, Perrin, etc. I don't think there is a single character in the series who doesn't have an arc where they learn to trust and depend on others.

This explains so much. Amazon has NO CLUE what they are doing with an IP such as this. What Sanderson is saying here is what Marvel did with the MCU and that why things worked so well up until Infinity War & End Game. After that it has been okay at best and insults at times. I haven’t seen O N E episode of WOT and already know it’s a slap in the face of the series, Jordan and the fans. Won’t be wasting my time.

I still think season 2 gets way more shit than it deserves. The story is character driven and the casting is the most important thing to me and the casting is great with the exception of Perrin, who should have an intimidating look and the physicality to back it up. It's a big part of his personality. Lan could be better.

Imagine trying to start star wars tier "disney ruined the show" shit with doctor who fans. This is the best the show has been in years. Also The Waters of Mars isnt "where it started" this show has been going for 60 years and the rules of time travel have been played fast and loose for pretty much that entire time.
