Carlinkit 5.0 update Firmware
How to Update Your Carlinkit 5.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter: A Complete Guide
As wireless CarPlay adapters become increasingly popular, keeping their firmware up-to-date is crucial for optimal performance. Today, I'll walk you through updating your Carlinkit 5.0 adapter's firmware - along with some troubleshooting tips I've learned from experience.
The Basic Update Process
The update process is straightforward but requires attention to detail. First, ensure your iPhone is connected to your car's radio through the wireless CarPlay adapter. Once connected, open Safari and enter "192.168.50.2" in the address bar. This takes you to the adapter's settings interface where you can check for available updates.
Important Warning: During the update process, it's absolutely critical that your car radio remains powered on. If power is interrupted during the firmware update, your adapter could become permanently damaged and unrecoverable.
Troubleshooting Common Update Issues
While updating my adapter, I encountered several issues that you might face too. Here's how to handle them:
Lost iPhone Connection
Sometimes during the update, your iPhone may lose its connection to the adapter. If this happens, you'll need to re-pair your device:
Go to your iPhone's Bluetooth settings
1. Select "Forget This Device" for the CarPlay adapter
2. Toggle Bluetooth off and on
3. Scroll down to find new devices
4. Reconnect to the adapter
5. Confirm the CarPlay connection prompt
If the adapter still doesn't appear, try physically disconnecting and reconnecting it to your car's USB port. While this process can be tricky, persistence usually pays off.
Firmware Version Management
After successfully updating, you can verify your current firmware version in the settings interface. As of my latest update, I'm running version 2024.07. The interface also offers a helpful rollback feature if you experience issues with the newest firmware - though this is rarely necessary as the latest versions typically perform well.
Final Thoughts
While the update process might seem daunting at first, it's relatively simple once you understand the steps. Regular firmware updates ensure you're getting the best possible performance from your Carlinkit 5.0 adapter. Just remember to keep your car running during the update, and don't hesitate to try the troubleshooting steps if you encounter any issues.
Happy updating!

I have the same issue with Apple Maps, so it’s not just a google maps or Waze issue.
Can I also do the following: If I have a RAID 5 with 4x 12 TB HDDs, for example, and I want to add 2 of them with a random full size under 12 TB Or just 12 Tb, can I still add them later?

@@TechnickrGlobal I just got a Ziimaboard and a Zimablade. New to the CasaOS world. Love to see more about CasaOS and what to do with them. You had a unique take on CasaOS that I had not see before. Good work.
I think I might have missed something. I ran the two commands you mentioned: ‘sudo apt-get update’ and ‘sudo apt-get install cockpit’. But then I get an error on port 9900, which is the one you mentioned in your image. It turns out that 9090 is the correct port. It shows up briefly in the memorized password screen you showed. Maybe you should update your notes…
@@ross.gaspar Yes it was an error. I have added an infocard at 03:57 and a pinned comment, but i can't replace the part of the video.

Unfortunately, the Zimablade's USB-C connector uses a non-standard 12 volts from the included wall adapter, which is not compatible with most USB devices and hubs. In addition, the included wall adapter would be unsafe to use on other USB-C devices that run on 5 volts.
USB-C is a connector standard, and it can support various voltages depending on the device and the power delivery (PD) protocol being used. The standard USB voltage is 5V, but USB-C with PD can support higher voltages like 9V, 12V, 15V, and even 20V. So, it's not inherently "non-standard" for a USB-C device to use 12V if it's part of a supported PD profile. The Zimablade's USB-C connector is designed to use 12V only, it should negotiate this voltage with the connected device using the USB Power Delivery protocol. This means it shouldn't work with devices, which are not running on 12V, assuming the PD communication is functioning correctly. This means also, that any other Sstandard PD-Delivery USB-C Power Adapter 'll work with the Zimablade, because standard PD has 12V also!

Good morning, I follow your istruction till 5:05 minute then when I go to create a Raid Disk I have this message "Error creating raid array: The function 'bd_md_create' called, but not not impemented ! . What can i do ? Thank you so much
@@carlocasseriani5073 Hello, The error message “Error creating RAID array: The function ‘bd_md_create’ called, but not implemented!” typically indicates that some necessary packages for creating RAID arrays are missing on your system. To fix this issue, you can try the following steps: 1. Install the required package libblockdev-mdraid3: sudo apt install libblockdev-mdraid3 2. Restart the udisks2 service to ensure the changes take effect: sudo systemctl restart udisks2 3. After completing these steps, try creating the RAID array again in Cockpit. Disclaimer: These instructions are based on common causes of the error and may not apply to all system configurations. Let me know if the issue persists! Be aware to know, what you are doing, if this is a production machine.
@@TechnickrGlobal Good morning, I apologize for replying only now I would like to point out that I am using a zimaboard 832 for personal use. thank you. I have 2 questions: - if I break a HDD and I buy a new one (same capacity) how can I configure it allowing the raid to replicate the existing data? - can you explain /red folder please? It's the root of the raid partition? thank you
If you insert a new hdd follow the same steps of the first initialisation of the hdd mentioned in this vid. After you add a "new second" compatible hdd, the raid 'll resync automatically -as shown in the vid. /red is just a folder of my choice, where the raid is mounted in, yes.
Much appreciate the review. I love how you presented it from a perspective of using it extensively. I have experienced writing on a number of Samsung and Apple devices of my friends, but the feel is still isn't very...paperlike even with the matte films installed on the screens, which made me still go for a trusty notebook and pen. The Papermatte display alone made it a no-brainer for me as I am planning to use a tablet solely for creative writing, note taking, making storyboards, and maybe some bit of work when I am away from my computer of possible. Seems like this ticks all the boxes, and for bank stuff, navigation, gaming and everything else, there's my phone and PC for those. Thought I'd give this one a spin and ordered today.😊
Please tell us later whether the tablet has delivered everything you expected from it. I would be really interested to hear that.
@@TechnickrGlobal Hi! I have received my unit a few days ago and I had a blast checking the features and giving it a test run. The tablet has some heft to it which I appreciate - not too light, not too heavy, and just enough screen estate for comfy reading, writing, and occasional gaming. It's handy and comfy to use, and I can check work stuff when I am away from my PC which is a big help, e.g. when I am cooking lunch at the kitchen and I am awaiting some emails and correspondences. Screen was glare-averse and it was pleasant to the eyes (no reflections!). It was a fingerprint magnet as I have hands that are always drenched in moisturiser, but nothing the included microfibre cloth couldn't handle. The Papermatte display rocks, and is smooth to touch. The M-pencil gen 3 included in the pack glides on it, very much like writing on a smooth, glossy notebook paper with a gel-ink pen, or writing on a whiteboard using a felt tip marker with a bit of resistance. I appreciate that it somehow is emulating that feel, although some may argue that it is not similar to writing on the Remarkable, but I still like the experience and will continue using it for my notes and creative writing. The M-Pencil Gen 3 and the accompanying keyboard/folio works great, no lags whatsoever and was pleasing to work with. No hiccups on the pencil, there's palm rejection and connects to the pad with a strong magnet, although I need to take care not to flick it away with too much force lol. The keyboard is small and thin enough to blend into the folio, but has a good feedback tactile-wise, and it does not feel flimsy like the more affordable Bluetooth keyboards for tablets that I have tried. The NearLink tech also is great as there was no lag in my experience with Goodnotes, GoPaint and the Microsoft apps. Power-wise, I still haven't charged it since 3 days ago and I'm still at 60% battery charge, which is nice as I usually use it casually with Goodnotes, Microsoft 365, GDrive, GoPaint (the out-of-the-box free app for painting), and checking emails. I have updated it to the latest Harmony OS 4.2.iforgottherest after it prompted me, and I think they have nice optimisations under the hood to make the most out of its charge juice. I tried a few games on it (as my phone is of low storage), and I appreciate the 256GB capacity. Installed Grand Summoners, Last Cloudia, Wizardry Variants Daphne, and Honkai Star Rail. These run smoothly, and I can do landscape mode for the first 2 games albeit still on portrait mode, which I prefer - smaller screen but larger than my phone screen. Wizardry looks like it could do with some anti-aliasing, but I think it is just optimised for phones, and Star Rail looked glorious. Finally, MicroG allows me to connect to some Google Services reliant-apps like in-app purchases and Google Drive sync, and it runs without issue. I had premium on Goodnotes and the installation on the tablet recognised that. Aurora Store (sideloaded from APK) made it easier for me to find apps compared to Huawei App Gallery, and I think I am good with the way how apps are installed here, albeit with the extra steps initially. Overall, for my use-case, it is a great buy, and will continue to test things out in the coming weeks.
Great tutorial! Is it possible to migrate from a single drive to RAID 1 without losing the data in the original single drive?
It is possible with mdadm, but without a backup very risky. While mdadm can preserve the data on the original drive during the migration, unforeseen issues may lead to data loss.
Hi, I am looking for a tablet around this price range. Right now, this pad, the Honor Pad 9, and the Lenovo P11 Gen 2 are all around the same price. Would you be able to recommend between these 3 as to which one is the best bang for your buck? My only real secondary requirement is that it has a keyboard. If it has a good pen, it is a plus but not 100% necessary.
i can't say anything about the other two, you mentioned.
This was a good tip! Appreciated
Glad it was helpful!
This is great!

This was the video I was looking for. Thank you for the review, minus the cringey background music, flashy animations, and rgb lights. This was very concise and informative.
Note: this is a translated video. Also i have done this process several tjmes, but i wanted to show you, how to find solutions, if you are stuck. Use ChatGPT for your Questions, it's very capable for casaOS and Ubuntu.
Thank you for the tutorial, I was following it until - creating "Raido" (creating the Raid Device) - I get this error: Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying. any thoughts how to fix this?
The message “Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying” indicates an issue with the communication between the system’s components during the RAID creation process in Cockpit. I can't tell you why. Maybe a hardware/firmware issue. Some SATA drivers do not work with that way. I can't remember which manufactorer.
@@TechnickrGlobal Thank you! FYI disks are WD80EFPX

@@TechnickrGlobal Ah, vielen Dank! that might have been the issue then. I ended up reinstalling ubuntu server and created the RAID1 during installation. I was then able to proceed with all subsequent steps of your tutorial without problems.
Can you publish your video about correctly installing tools in casaos’s storage?
Yes, any special tool in mind, which i should go through?

Thanks for the tutorial! Note the Port is 9090, not 9900! Also if you are using drives of 2TB or more, DON"T USE MBR, use GPT!
Sorry for the Mismatch! Need to add an infocard also. Can you explain, why MBR isn't good for >2TB?
@@TechnickrGlobal i am not sure either, i have been troubleshooting all night with ChatGPT (i use two 12TB drive). It's always some "sector overlapping" issue when i try to make it into a RAID 1. My guess is MBR is a legacy format that doesn't support large HDD?
@@coreywongthat sounds like you did not cleaned both drives with ubuntu and are using the preformated partitions.
I really wish I had watched this sooner. I made the mistake of formatting the receiver to exFAT in Disk Utility on my Mac to stop the error messages, but it ended up breaking the receiver’s software and making it unusable. In the end, I had to buy a new one just to get back to where I started. Please don't do anything. Take care.
:-( So you werent able to rebuild the firmware? Do you still have it? There must be a way.
@@technickr No way. It's not being recognized by my Mac or via USB-C. If it were, I would have tried dragging the latest firmware file to update it and fix the issue.
@@technickr Yes, I still have it.
@@rushilshah13 ask the support. They have special software to fix broken firmwares.

Great. I wonder how this tablet performs if I use live Video conferencing, zoom camera, during my slides presentation to students.
Have you tried it using the FPV view?
When I recorded using the DJI Mic 1 with my iPhone 15 on CapCut, the recorded voice levels were very low, resulting in low sound output. Do I need to adjust any settings?
You can adjust the levels in the mic receiver. Read the documentation how.
