I like this movie a lot but at the same time wouldn't dump on direction of the new Wicked. Dancing Through Life, What Is This Feeling, and Defying Gravity are among the best musical set pieces ever committed to film.
I agree, I don't think Kelly Ann's motivation was virtuous. I think she left the video on the mother's bedside table mostly to farther torment her, making her see the video of her daughter's torture. If she simply wanted to provide evidence rather than horrify the mother, she could have left it with the police. Also there was no virtue in her dressing up as Camille and taking a picture of herself in her bedroom.
Mississippi Masala is such a good film. Really made me realize why women LOVE Denzel
@@CynintheArctic Oh, I get it...
Although I disagree with some placements, I appreciate how you justify them. Have you watched Sympathy for Mr Vengeance? It’s like Oldboy but more raw. It’s my personal favorite Chan Wook film.
@@snowset675 I have seen it! I do prefer it to Oldboy, I prefer a lot of Park Chan-wook movies to Oldboy like Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Handmaiden, I'm a Cyborg but That's Okay and Decision to Leave. I do still need to see more from him though
@@kritpickproductions Cool! I also want to check out more of Chan Wook’s filmography. I still need to see the Handmaiden and Decision to Leave, as I’ve only touched his Vengeance trilogy so far.
@snowset675 Handmaiden is fantastic but Decision to Leave is one of my favourite movies, it's an essential of the decade imo
@@kritpickproductions I think Decision to Leave will be the next one I watch. Handmaiden is up there though
The G.O.A.T of acting after Morgan freeman and Sydney Poitier

The 2000 adaptation of the Grinch isn’t bad, it’s good, not as good as the original, but still good.
I think this was a beautifully done movie… and the story was reimagined great… I don’t know why people didn’t like it
I posted this almost a year ago and this analysis reminded me of this: "That's what I love, seeing them lose everything." Kelly Anne was playing poker with Chevalier, Camille's family, Clementine and the authorities. Chevalier lost his claim to innocence, Camille's family was devastated by seeing the truth of their daughter's murder, the authorities looked inept by being gift wrapped hard evidence by a stranger, Clementine lost her belief in Chevalier's innocence. Even Kelly Anne lost her modeling career which was her real life version of going full tilt at the poker table when she cosplayed as Camille in the courtroom. Ultimately Kelly Anne won her jackpot by accomplishing her goal of everyone involved in her game losing everything, actually winning the Camille video and the added bonus of taking the selfie in Camille's bedroom. The game started with seeking out and buying access to real Red Rooms then turned into obsession once Chevalier was exposed and arrested. Kelly Anne felt personally attached to the case since she was there in essence from the beginning. A great film whose heart of darkness centered around a truly morally ambiguous central character in the beautiful, enigmatic Kelly Anne. *I like your line "Doing good things for the wrong reasons." as it's quite apropos.
@@jackspawn77771 This pretty succinctly says what I was trying to ramble my way through in this video, good work. I appreciate you watching!
It's the most boring movie ever.
The thing is with this movie is I like it because it actually is consistent with the original Wizard of Oz movie, and my opinion and you’ll have to probably write in the comments below or something, but I’ve never seen wicked but I just prefer the wicked witch to be a wicked witch, I don’t really like the idea of her being a fully flushed out under rated character or misunderstood. Maybe it’s just my nostalgia, but this paints a good picture of someone who was originally good with a little bit of wickedness deep down inside, that turns evil through the actual wicked witches schemes. Maybe it’s just because this movie is the only movie that actually makes sense to me, and all the details that I’ve heard about wicked don’t make sense and maybe it’s just cause I don’t like it. but I guess what I’m trying to say is this movie is more of a Wizard of Oz movie prequel then most things I’ve heard of. And it does have musical things in it, but is mostly explaining the characters rather than trying to have a sympathize with them, which we do sympathize with them a little bit, but it’s cool to see how they became who they are in the Wizard of Oz.
great!
denzel the goat

I finally got a chance to see Oz: The Great and Powerful last week and I liked it, oh and Temple Run: Oz is so much fun to play too.
I think you really highlighted what Travolta is so good at: he understands the assignment, and he’s good at challenging good actors to meet him on his level. I don’t think he’s better than Denzel or Nic Cage, but he stands toe to toe when he shares the screen with that level of actor.
@@zacharybryant9881 His work in Pelham is definitely what I remember most in that movie, especially his final line, but I don't think he's a better actor than Denzel at all. Like you say, he just understands the potential of great material, even when other actors may not, underrated performer imo

I never saw and will probably never watch Wicked. I always liked this prequel and will keep liking it.
Nice video. Loved the background jazz
I wouldn’t call myself a blu ray/dvd collector but for movies that i really really enjoy i do choose to buy them on blu ray. For example i just picked up a double pack of the dune / dune part 2 4k blu ray set. Also the extra bonus features and commentary tracks really makes it a no brainer for me. Especially since these movies rn aren’t on any streaming service.
The 2018 movie the grinch wasn't really that mean
1:45 you more than God?
There were three large problems with this movie and their names were Mila kunis, James Franco, and the word “behold”
I think this movie and the Babadook have a lot in common. The monster manifests from the negativity in their lives.
What’s to defend? I enjoyed watching this movie and after waiting for it to be shown on Disney+, it’s finally here.

Amazing film and excellent analysis. 👏👏👏
I think a better idea for some of these rare OOP items and TV shows that are stuck on streaming is to let people buy made-on-demand (MOD) DVD/BD/4Ks of them.
No one is buying it anymore apart from us millennials and Gen Xers. Everybody is streaming now because it is a better value, at the expense of some quality and real ownership.
@@LordDementus1987 Actually, in my experience, it's young people who are buying and older generations who bought into the convenience. In my Discord server, most of the users are under 25 and they all collect, and every time I'm shopping in real life for Blu-ray's, the shop is full of younger people.

The movie has a good story but unfortunately it's plagued by miscasts. Mila Kunis, James Franco and Rachel Weisz are all unconvincing and unlikeable in their roles. Michele Williams was the only great casting choice. For context, they initially wanted Robert Downey Jr. to play the "wizard" as a charming con man so you could clearly see where they were going. Unfortunately he wasn't interested. James Franco makes for a poor replacement because while he pulls off sleazy, he doesn't come off as charming. It's a shame because otherwise I actually really like Sam Raimi's signature camera work being used on Oz.
Disney killed my love of collecting. For over 30 years I collected Star Wars and Indiana Jones DVDs, Blu Rays, and 4K discs. Living in Australia I cannot get, locally, any Disney discs. None, nada, nil. I have to buy overseas and pay a massive premium. Now……I don’t buy. I have my collection, but it ends at the last movie/series that I could buy. Sad face 😕
@@jamesmapletoft4541 That really stinks, I'm sorry to hear that.
Even here in the US, they're extremely expensive. Disney refuses to release their shows on DVD or Blu-ray, and are only releasing now on 4KBD because they know they can gouge collectors. I don't want to buy a 4K player. When Disney finally released Asokha on physical, it was only offered as a 4KBD and $50 for one season. Ridiculous.
I don't get your take that it's better to have a God that sins than a God that is perfect
You are saying there are great movies out there of Fincher ... but seven , fight club no where near them according to you
@@rahulhaque2576 Neither of those are in my top 5 Fincher's, yes
I think the CGI works great I'm oz the great and powerful it's so colorful I loved it I mean the story is no where near as astonishing and beautiful as wicked but the Movie is a solid film that deserve more love Btw I love wicked's CGI they work way better in theaters than many of the trailer's on UA-cam
Just finished the film, came here for explaination. um the first thing you say is that this film has thw most sickening and shocking scenes of the year. umm its a thriller. nothing happens but people talking. GGs with those accurate revierws.
