It's so sad to see these Viscounts in the process of being scrapped. I was BAF Engineer in Aberdeen for three years where we operated four rotations per day up to Shetland. It's heartwarming to know that Hotel Mike is preserved at Brooklands. I've lived in Australia now for thirty years, but if I ever visit the UK again, Brooklands will be one of my first ports of call. Thanks for posting all these wonderful videos.

Stunning plane and amazing sound. I remember the Sudanese TAAT coming into Manchester in the 90s trailing black smoke and looking battered! Screaming engine noise as it turned when taxiing. Nice to see & hear the Air Rwanda 9XR-JA. It was always the last plane in the Civil Aircraft Markings but sadly I never got to see it.

Terrific video. I used to train spot along the line betweem Leigh-on-Sea and Shoeburyness in the 1950s. There were still a couple of the old LT&S 4-4-0Ts around in the mid 1950s but most of the motive power was 2-6-4t engines, standard and Fairburn class 4s and all of the Stanier 3 cylinder engines (37 in total). I travelled to work from Southend East to the City of London in 1961 and 1962, when steam was replaced by EMUs. Happy days.

Each and every one of the EMUs in this video i serviced and repaired. I was a fitter at east ham depot from the early 80s through to 96. I enjoyed every minute working on these beauties. Each one had its own unique charm and character to drive, work on and, i know it sounds strange, smell. I would love to see if any have been preserved and are still working.

From Wikipedia: 'Two driving trailers, 75033 and 75250, which belonged to units 302 201 and 302 227, are preserved at Mangapps Railway Museum near Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex. These units have been repainted into BR overall blue with yellow ends and are still in very good condition, with the destination scrolls still in working order, the seats still in British Rail colours and the Network South East maps still in very good condition. The rest of the fleet has been scrapped since withdrawal in late 1999.'

@robinpinnock2678 Thank you for that great information. I will definitely make my way there to see them the next time I'm in that part of the UK. Would be nice to speak to the people who service the units and take care of them. It's a shame they didn't have the full 4 car units. Obviously, there is no overhead power to run the motor coach, but the motors could have been modified to run freewheel, and I suppose space is limited for two 4 coach units.

He was so messed up from the accident he had to see a therapist. ATC in Senegal spoke French and dad was not fluent that's what caused it I don't care what anyone says he was not at fault for that. It was an ATC screw up

In 1987 I had a short domestic flight from Legaspi to Cebu on one of the newly introduced SD360s of Philippine Airlines (PAL). Of that flight, I had no choice, PAL then had the monopoly of the domestic passenger airline market. The roughly hour long flight was the worst flight I flew. The cabin was super noisy I felt dizzy for most of the flight. After the flight, the dizziness somehow stretched into a fever which extended into the following day. I vowed not to fly on an SD360 again. Those times were the twilight of PAL’s monopoly of the domestic airline market. A few years after that unforgettable SD360 flight, the Philippine domestic market started to open to other airlines giving more choices of destinations, flight sectors and frequencies, and aircraft types. During this period PAL also quickly phased out the new SD360s and the aging HS748s from their fleet, changing these types with F50s.
