I decided to get back into mountain biking again, after a LONG time away from the sport. I use my peg leg for riding as it is less cumbersome than a regular prosthetic foot. As time goes by and I get more comfortable, I'll be posting more about any modifications I make. Special thanks to Cranky's Bike Shop in Aldergrove for getting me set up!

    LBKA here... watch a lot of your videos and had a quick question... was wondering if this could be an everyday foot for me. Currently have a Rush Pro foot and not really happy with it and looking to upgrade.. what are your thoughts could this be an everyday foot or does it need to be a more dedicated activity sports foot... my prosthesis says it wouldnt but i don't really trust his judgement and want to make sure he is just isnt pushing stuff that he can make a good markup on.. thanks in advance

    My feet are far from good, but they are my own feet and I use them to drive. However, if I was an amputee, I would have had hand controls installed in my car, but I wouldn't trust prosthetic feet while operating a vehicle... Nevertheless, I see it can be done and I'm glad for this guy's abilities! 😊👍👍

    Thanks for the great info. It's 2 years since my left BK amputation. For my first prostetic I was given a pin lock socket. Since my residual limb shrunk tremendously in 8 months, I was given a suction type socket. I like the snugness but don't like the reduced knee movement also the stretching pain I get on the top of my knee. With the suction I don't have that pistoning effect. I see you prefer the pin lock system. Does the pistoning effect bother you. I'm due for my third leg 2 months. Looking for feedback from users of the pin lock system so I can make an informed decision. Thank you in advance. Oh yes, where can I get the zippered pants? Way cool.

    • @monoped_adventures
      @monoped_adventures Місяць тому

      @arviahouse I don't have any pistoning, but sometimes that can also be affected by limb shape. My socket seems to almost lock onto my stump's shape and my low ply sock thickness. The zippered pants are just regular Levi's that a family friend modified for me. Many dry cleaners can also do simple alterations like this.

    Reason no rub is you have a TRD Pro and yes they trim the bumper and push the fender liner forward. Technically anyone without a Pro can do the same. There are templates for where to cut.

    Five days ago a relative had the left fot/leg cut about 30cm below the knee. She´s just had her 80´s birthday - but I really want her to get the best prosthetic leg/fot available. Sure. Was a while since she climbed mountains and run marathons, but I belive that she would prefer the benefits of a lighter, more agile, and more dampend foot. Sweden. Not sure how the authorities rule about the cost´s.. Perhaps she´ll get a wooden leg :/

    I'm glad you're doing well. Great to see you here. I'm still teaching, playing music and was playing tennis with the great All Pro XTS foot. A few weeks ago, out of the blue, my wrist started hurting and my hand got swollen. Had an X Ray. Nothing. I do have periodic pain in my wrist. It's better but still not right in one spot so no tennis yet.

    I just got a 2024 ORP. I also have a BTK amputation of my right foot. I drive with my left foot same as I have seen you do. The 4Runner is a tight fit for my prosthetic. I’m tall so it’s clumsy to say the least. I only have about 4500 miles on my truck. The KO2s are my next tire I believe. Thanks for your advice. I’m just over one year with the amputation. It’s tough at times.

    Just curious…I have been using the Allpro for 4 years now, but am getting a new one and switching to the xts. Just wondering if you know a comparison between the two to know if there’s much of a difference. I’ve tried other feet with a rotation function and they really didn’t have a rotation function. BKA here and was a pro athlete and had my knee reconstructed long before losing my leg. I’d love a rotation function to prolong my knee health.

    • @monoped_adventures
      @monoped_adventures 4 місяці тому

      You don't really notice any rotation, but the slight absorption of rotational impact really reduces load thru my knee joint. Maybe a better way of describing it is that it feels smooth on rough terrain and high impact?

      They're holding up really well, with no wobble or balance issues at higher speeds. My only complaint is that they don't seem to flex as much as radials, but I haven't lowered the pressure in them at all either. I'll try them a 4 PSI and see how they react. So far, they're great.

    Thanks for this video! I'm looking to replace ,my current foot with the Filauer All Pro and I noticed that you got the XTS model which has a pivot at the ankle. This only adds to the weight of a perfectly designed foot, in the function of a "normal" human foot the pivot is accomplished from the hip down to the femur and then to the foot, the foot pivots on the ball of the foot, if you pivot on the ankle, you will have a dislocated ankle. Going back to the weight, the All pro is 450 g vs the XTS which is 780 g! Sorry for my medical soapbox, I still appreciate your perfectly lucid explanations on prosthetic hardware.
