Welcome to my channel. I'm a native Floridian, seasoned storyteller and weirdo to the core. With extensive experience in producing television shows, I became curious about trying a new mode of storytelling and podcasting was the perfect solution. It feeds my need to create content and fulfills my passion for telling Florida stories. After the success of producing 2 nationally distributed documentaries on Weird Florida, it was only natural for me to continue that into the podcasting world. Merging these 2 mediums I feel gives listeners of The SoFlo Weird show a stylistic storytelling experience. This channel will build upon that content and my hope is to attract fans into my web of weirdness.
The Kaimiloa Project
100 years ago, the Kaimiloa, a cutting-edge yacht owned by the Kellum family, embarked on an extraordinary journey through the south Pacific.
This remarkable yacht was impressive in size, equipped with state of the art wireless communications systems and a science lab, just to name a few mind blowing unheard of amenities for 1924.
Historian and author Cesar Becerra talks about the Kaimiloa in his new book which is based on the epic tale of far away travels to remote islands on a quest for adventure and discovery.

On a recent visit to Fort Myers, the SoFlo Weird Street Team came across a very unique exhibit on loan from the Smithsonian called ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The Hubcap as Art. I love the fact how society back in the 1920's seemed to be much open, like anything goes. I mean the city of Miami accepted Capone with open arms. Times are more stricter indeed.
