Apologies for Audio quality I am slowly getting use to using the microphones and the wind is relentless at sea.
NOTE; Here is a current scenario:
If I want to leave the wharf, with current prices
Quota is $30-$34 per kg I need 1500kg at minimum that's $51,000 out of pocket already.
i now need Fuel which is $2.02 per liter i need 1500L = $3000
i am at $54,000 still haven't left
i best get some Bait for the pots $4 per kg i need 1500kg= $6000
food for crew and i $800 -$1000 for up to 2 weeks
now i can leave the wharf, I'm only $61,000 out of pocket.
CRAYFISH PRICE on return of 2 weeks at sea $55 PER KG
$55x1500kg = $82,500 take out my expenses before i left the wharf, I've got $21,500 left Lets not forget I haven't paid insurance, maintenance of vessel, repairs, lost or broken fishing gear, Bank repayments and superannuation let alone a lot of other expenses.

Used to work up there with a few skippers it's not a easy area to work unless you know it
what is the draught/draft of this boat?

Well done nice job catching lobsters 🦞
He'll ya bud. Them where some money pots for sure. It's how it is over here lobster ING. U will go along and not get shit out of them 1 or 2 and then BOOM u have 10 traps with like 15 20 lobsters in them. And it always make the day or should I say SAVES the day lol 😂
hi Bryce, you keep mentioning the other business, how do i find that one or what is it? i am 75 & an ex h/d diesel truck mechanic & have done my share of heavy lifting that has had toll on my back/spine, here in Perth i am getting treatment from hospital pain management that carry out a rhizotomy that cauterize the nerves that transmits pain signals, it works, you may need to try it.
@@denishannon7302 it's called channel moorings. 😀
Have you ever tried lobby eggs are they edible and tasty or crap ? Cheers 😊
i have worked on the Cummins nt855 engine in a generator a long time ago, just wondering how much fuel is used on an average day fishing?
@@denishannon7302 awesome to hear, ah we use about 220 to 270 litres per day. Genset is about 6 litres per hour. Main cummins is 22 to 24 per hour. She has 42,500 hours untouched..
dostum havuzlarda kac gun canlı kalıyor
dostum tekne sacmı
The boat looks like it handles the weather very good. She look wet. The one thing about have. The wheel house up on bow of boat it keeps the spray off frm ya when ur on deck working. How long it the boat?
@@Travis-u7i boats 57 foot. It is wet but that's why we have wet weather's. I'm not a fan of forward wheelhouse boats. Much prefer stern wheelhouse.
Tekne saçmı aliminyummu
He'll ya u guys are nailing the lobsters bud. I wish u got them down loaded quick er. I am just now seeing thus one
Great to see you guys back. I would really like to see how you bait the pots and where it's positioned. From QLD we only do crabbing and the bait keepers are on the bottom.
What type of quotas do you have and how long is the season. Love the videos
Havuzlarda kaç gün canlı yaşaya biliyor böcekler
this is great, i wishi wasdoing it but much too old, question though, because it is a "team 2 man job" is it equal pay? or will the skipper earn more?
@denishannon7302 skipper earns more. You may see the "deckhand" do the deck work by himself but that's his job. The skipper is the one who determines how well the boat does and a good skipper will keep the lobster coming onboard. But when it comes to all things maintenance and mechanical it's the skipper, same as selling the lobster ect and alot more ontop of that, 😀
Great watching once again steve
Missed you guy's

Süper siniz çok güzel çalışıyorsunuz Yem olarak hangi balık koyuyorsunuz
When will you do a video on the west coast? I've heard that's way worse than East. Those men around there must be crazy
@Darryl-jones I mean west is dangerous, but that was also mainly due to no reception and help being so far away. Bit different these days. We don't stay "close" on purpose. We can just make the money required closer to home. Lest running costs. However we do plan on a west trip soon. If you go back about 12 months there was a full series on the west.
@Aussielobsterhunters is that the episode where you were a bit cheeky and cut in front of the bloke with the red boat? Snotty or something like that? But even with technology being advanced as it is, it still doesn't change the fact that the other lobster fisherman are around the west coast roughing it out, I'm always looking at weather charts and can see that it usually always looks rougher than the eastern side. The scenery there looks amazing
@Darryl-jones yeah that was for the TV show, however we did go around the west for the youtube channel also. As I've always said, no one was cut infront of hah miscommunication and confusion. Yeah west can be nasty but I would say the south coast is worse. A southerly with strong winds doesn't leave many places to hit, just last trip we were in upto 7M swell and 40 knots. That was only at bruny and it wasn't nice.
Teette todella hienoja videoita 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice work lads, just did a short trip to the Sth coast I enjoy watching how things are done on bigger vessels👌
Great vlog
Thank you!!
Hi guys why dont you guys dont do some rod and reel fishing while the pods is soaking?
Has the market crashed Australia wide as well ? Been told beach price here (Victoria) is $100 kg ? Just doesn't seem right, love ya work dudes keep it up legends 🍺🍺
@neilsy73 This was filmed about 4 months ago :)
Welcome back guys. Happy new year
Thanks, Happy New Year to you too!
Nice work Bryce, Beast of a boat , immaculate engine room, would love to see her out of the water when up on the slip. Keep up the good work and good luck for next trip.
Thanks! We'll try and get some shots of her out of the water next time she's on the slip.
I've always hated night running once in out little fleet of 12 boats we were heading out and boat took a dead head that went right threw his boat but it went in and out towards the bow they were able to kinda plug it turned around and barely around 15 miles out they got in and got it fixed I n three days they were so lucky another bigg one of our boats fallowed him back with a coast guard boat it turned out like a miracle oh did I mention it was also foggy I always pray for fisherman
Oh and the fog it stinks coming from another fisherman it socks so bad keep the faith my friends
Yes, very frustrating to work In haha
I know what the problem is locky hasn't done the lobster dance lol keep a smile on thanks
I think you're onto something there... 😉
How is locky doing with his back he is looking good you im worried about lol thanks for the video good luck 👍
Good morning and happy new year ive been waiting lol stay safe and keep the faith
Cheers, happy new year to you too! We'll be back soon.
Is that the Chinese Market. I certainly wouldn't expect your catch to be sold in Australia??
We sell our lobster to Australian business's it's upto them as to where they are sold. Also alot of the lobster I catch is sold to a local restaurant called mures. Who then sell fresh, cooked and even live to the public.
Bloody awesome series mate thanks for bringing us along
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it.
Maybe put a deposit down for those big boys and leave moneys in credit for the next run. Build direct clientele who support directly?
We definitely are fortunate enough to have a decent following which allows us to sell direct to public helping us sell our catch when we need
What about starting to take orders directly online and bypass all the bullshit. I try and support local business. What would it cost for me to get big lobbos sent from you too me in Katanning WA?
We have looked into it, we also actually use to directly sell and package to customers. It's a big big big cost to get set up.
Lovin the content, what size/brand callipers are you guys using to measure your crays
Ours a molded brass measures. 110mm for males and 105mm for females. But when up the east coast it's 120mm for females but still 110mm for males
Great work mate well done 👏 ✔️ 👍 👍🇦🇺
Appreciate it mate!
Hope you guys had a great Christmas and hopefully you have a great new year now that the Chinese are back on board 😊
Cheers, hope you had a good one too!
Old is better, I have a 87 stroked fxr that has done a 10.9 1/4, owned since 88 and a 2005 big dog and 2007 softail they are no where near the old girl go the Evo's
I loved following your journey up North, great content and very informative about the life of a Lobster fisherman. You have a very professional attitude and a great work ethic. Few questions though, when was this 2 & 1/2 week blog filmed, I'm guessing August 24? Reason for asking is I went to the Queen Vic Market 24th Dec and Crays were $130-$140/kg. (Used to be $150/kg) I'm hoping you were one of the suppliers and got a darn site more than $55/kg? I note that China is now importing live crays (Lobsters!) again. I do hope you are getting a much better price for your catch so that you can get into profit and make it a worthwhile profession. The amount of time/energy/and boat upkeep and operating costs plus wages you have to endure, I would say you deserve a really big slice of the cake. I look forward to your next adventure in the Southern Ocean. Safe fishing.
Yeah this series was filmed back in august from memory. It's taken a while to edit it and post it with the busy life style haha. We are getting a much better price now, however it still comes down to the amount we are having to pay for quota and other expenses.
How long can the Lobo's last in the tank.
Ah a month or 2 sometimes longer 😀
