Pure poetry
Thank you so much. Just finished this one and now go to listen to a last song of valdesa and I subscribe to you as well.
"tell them Kain is coming"
Goddammit, but I love me some Klarkash-Ton! Thanks for this.
This is a good one
Great stuff! I also love Oldhammer stories like these. It's rare to see tzeentchian Chaos Dwarfs these days, thats so original Realm of Chaos like. Very cool.
I agree, the beginning "In interlunar midnight when...etc" . What a start for a story...👍🏻
just an explosion of awesome imagery there! I may have mentioned this before but I really enjoy your channel. Some of the readings up there led me to making my own!
This channel is hidden gold, please continue to make videos, Here is a feedback on question near the end: 1) Definitely more Kane stories by Karl Wagner, 2) Nortwest from Earth by C.L.Moore 3) more Steve Costigan stories by Robert Howard Nobody read those on youtube and they are equally golden as this channel
Thanks for the feedback on stories! Much appreciated. I’ve got all of those stories you mentioned so it should be possible to work them in.
@@thrillingsuspensefantasy thanks, I can only look forward to it 💥
@@GoryWory I second more Kane stories by Karl Edward Wagner. The 2 short stories posted here really whetted my appetite.
WOW 😮 I never heard about Zothique - IT"S PURE AWESOME! Thank you! where is the image from?
Hey! Thanks for the kind words. The image is from a painter called Mark Rogers, this collection is from the 90s and leans into cheesecake a bit
Sounds bout right 15:03
I will never get tired of Zothique!! Thank you for your fantastic work!
Appreciate the kind words! Been a rough little while so they are extra appreciated
@thrillingsuspensefantasy CAS still doesn't get near enough of the spotlight , and his Zothique stories are amazing Sword and Sorcery.
Recently my reading has taken down the rabbit hole of both English and French Decadence. It’s really interesting to look at the influences on CAS and to consider in light of those influences where he builds on and breaks from tradition. Have you read any decadence-Baudelaire, Rachilde, Huysmans, Lorrain, or the like? I’d read Wilde and Beckford, enjoyed Beardsley, but never committed to understanding that lineage before this fall.
@@thrillingsuspensefantasy I have not, but I will have to give them a look. I think in terms of actual writing ability, Smith was the best of the Weird Tales big 3. Howard is my favorite, but Smith could write like no other!
I agree completely! Of the three, HPL is the least adept and yet somehow the most well-known. His concept of fear is so good! I admit that when I was young, Smith was the hardest to get into of the three. He’s now my favorite by a long shot.
I would like to request The Dark Eidolon ! My favorite CAS story
How fortuitous! I was thinking of that tale as the big finale for this month.
@@thrillingsuspensefantasy It's amazing!!
Not the UA-cam gamer intro! 😂😂😂
say man, not exactly sure what you mean--but I am curious!
Welcome back!
Thanks! Happy to be back and rockin'
Ey, you're back!
Helllllll yeah I am!
Awesome to have you back!
Happy to be back, my man!
This is a great one
One of the best! I'm thinking about asking the community to rank CAS settings and tales within settings. Would you be interested in that?
@@thrillingsuspensefantasy sure
@@guaporeturns9472 likely to put up a discussion on Reddit. I'll link it via the Community page here when I get around to it. I'd estimate early next week!
One of CAS's best!
Yep
Couldn't agree more!
Fantastic story!!
Truly truly!
Amazing story fantastic reading great analysis. You're an intelligent, imaginative, and talented bloke. You also have good taste, CAS and REH are two of my favorites. I'm checking out your work as a result.
Thanks for the kind words!
Cool man!
Hope your doing well, can’t believe I missed this one!
Thanks, UA-cam, for posting this classic tale of Kane ! I'm impressed and curious about whether or not Kane's character was ever put out in a comic book or a graphic novel 🤔?
Great to hear these classic Kane stories!
This prefigures that later great boxing saga…”Punch Drunks” by Howard, Howard, and Fine.
Thank you for this! So much more enjoyable than an AI voice mispronouncing "Cimmeria" as "Kimeria" or even a degraded 1970's cassette recording, though some of those latter are quite good.
This has a feel of conan
A tinge of "the Frost Giant's Daughter".
Story was read wonderfully, the commentary at the end was also a wonderful addition.
Thank you!
Interesting how the couple fairly resemble the stranger that spoke with the trucker--and what he spoke of viewing in that moment--in the TV adaptation of "The Martian Chronicles"... which had aired just a few years before this work was published. A bit of possible influence, perhaps?
I have the older editions with the Frazetta covers
Fantastic! I never heard of this but enjoyed the Earthsea trilogy when I was young, thanks for the reading!
What would be considered, "low fantasy"? Like, werewolf/vampire romance? Lol. I know what ya mean about the conveyance of that sword and sorcery atmosphere though, whenever I want a sure-fire fix R.E.Howard's Scarlet Citadel does it for me, though I do prefer the Conan stories written by other authors like Robert Jordan over the originals mostly.
Low fantasy would be stuff that has a limited fantasy element rather than being wholly suffused with magic-most Conan would count that way in my estimation! I haven’t read or watched any of the vampire werewolf romance stuff so I can’t comment.
Can you read Fireflight? I can’t seem to find it anywhere!
I have the five main Kane books in 1970s vintage mass market paperback. This story is the second in *Night Winds.* Not, IMO, one of the best of the Kane stories, but it and the one before it in the same collection, "Never, Dessylyn," give much more of Kane's background than most of the other stories.
Commenting for the algorithm
Thanks for the reading. I was working my way through CAS's stuff, own several books, but there's so much out there. Just started listening to UA-cam videos bc I can do dishes, laundry, drive around town while listening to the next episode. Thank you again.
I definitely want to hear more about CL Morris books and here you read them with such passion, Vigor and excitement!! Appreciate it this story it was great!!
Where ya been? Hope all is well
totally swamped between day job stuff and illustration work! I'll be back in due course
First read this in DAWs Years Best Horror number 5, where I also first read Tanith Lee....❤
I really like REH boxing tales, though I pretty much love all his stuff except for his humorous Westerns. Those are ok. Have you ever read any of Louis L'amour's boxing tales? He works boxing into a bunch of his Westerns too. Thanks for the reading!
interested in recommendations! I just ordered Frontier Stories Vol 1 but haven't read a word of his!
@@thrillingsuspensefantasy all of Louis L'amour's boxing stories are in short story collections, and those have been re-released with different titles at times. I don't have my physical copies handy, but his Western series with Lance Kilkenny as a main character has a boxing match, and some well-written fist fights. The Sackett series too.
ok I am literaly blown away by the quality of your reading. This is not other level, but other dimension! 💯💯💯
Thank you...I've only been waiting for 47 years.
I think it's been about 40 years for me. Every bit worth it.
A mighty fine narrator. Let us know if and when these are compiled into an audio file. Great job.
Hey! Thank you. Can you let me know what you mean by an audio file? Are you looking for a downloadable mp3 or something? Interested to hear!
Excellent!
Your prose is alive and beautiful. Excellent execution of narrative. I wish I had your vocabulary. Vivid story and protagonist. Very weird indeed. Bravo, sir.
Legit too kind! What a wonderful compliment! Thank you.
I absolutely loved this story, keep up the amazing work!
Thank you for the kind words!
Very satisfactory. Like reading a pulpy comic.
Was looking for more sword and sorcery after rereading REH's conan at least 3 times. This is gold.
That was simply wonderful!!! I adore C.A.S, and you have have served his work with Honor! Nicely done Good Sir!
