I am just a man who thrives on the beauty of the world that I get to live in. My passions in life are: my family, my God, His beautiful world, and delicious food.
My videos will be chaotic, but I hope to mostly do adventures centering on backpacking, hiking, gear, and of course good food. When I have such an amazing family, (which includes my dogs) its hard not to throw videos about them out there.
Thank you so much for stopping by!

I have a catahoula treeing walker mix. Playing this video got his undivided attention head tilting and the works
Congratulations!!
when was this ?
Pretty much middle of October, to middle of November (ish) The colors were late because of a severe drought. Still, the colors changing was the best time to do this trail.
Congrats on your final edit. I’ve watched and enjoyed every one of them. Great job….. Don’t be a stranger and come back to Alabama & Georgia, now that you’re officially a part of the Pinhoti Trail community ! #PinhotiFOREVER - JBEN
I feel so humbled by this. Thank you so much. Will you be at Pinhoti Fest? We plan on being there. Thanks for sticking around. Always look forward to your next adventure,
@@chefegzyle Yes I will be at PF…me and the whole Pinhoti Mafia. Looking forward to meeting up. Make sure you set up near us in Tent City (if you’re tenting).
Thank you for sharing your journey Chef. I enjoyed the ride all the way from start to finish and you inspired me to hike this trail not too long from now, next year I hope. Enjoy the memories, they will last you a lifetime. De beste wensen uit Nederland!
Bedankt! This is so cool to read and hear, this was the whole point of my series. I hope the trail treats you just as good if not better than me. Say Hi to it for me, it will always close to me forever. tot ziens uit de VS!
My Catahoula just passed after 15 years this Friday two weeks ago. I have had many many dogs in my life and hands down She was the best well rounded dog I have ever had. Not even close. Companion, family protector, Huntress, and sweet with her family never aggressive. She slept next to me no matter where I was. I could have been in a mud puddle and she would have been right there. I will miss my BFF.
Such great shots my friend!
Thank you! I really felt good about this one. The colors when I got to this point are so vibrant. I want to get back so bad
Roads hurt my knees also my friend!
Georgia means business! Great video again, thanks for sharing.
You're very welcome! Thank you so much
Wow thank you for the shout out again. We just hiked that section it was a little ruff lol.
Yeah it was, thats why your food hit the spot so well. I had had those in my pack since I left yalls hostel, just SAVING it for when I needed it. so, yea, it was perfect.
Nice work on your videos man. I had fun hiking with you for a few days as well.
Leo! Buddy! Thought I would never hear from ya again. Hope you're doing well and getting back out there soon. Thanks, mate, for the compliments. Hiking through the burn section is one of the most memorable moments I have of the trail. So cool , and sketch.
Are the overlooks official side trails? Or do you just jog out whenever it looks like a good view?
Both, this day was FiLLED with ledges and cliffs that were right beside the trail. Most overlooks I recorded were part of the trail. Day9 has an official side trail, but I would say that's the minority
Really good add-ins in this one 😆
2:20
I love that section... not
Just kidding I love the GA Pinhoti!
Let's be real, it wasn't the best of sections, but the river crossings IMO are cool and different. It was rough in cold weather, though! Love, to see your posts lately, by the way!
Arghhh…. The GA road-walks. On a positive note, you truly caught the Pinhoti Trail in its perfect time of year.
I know! the first half had me worried, but after cave springs the colors hit hard and I was walking in wonderland the rest of the time (besides the nasty road walks....)
Said the same thing to my uncle Jeff last Christmas…. He didn’t listen either
Watched 14-15 & 16-17 back to back. Still enjoying your style. Cave Spring is a cool little town. Glad you got to spend some time there.
Oh absolutly! The town was so cool. It has some really good food to boot as well. I appreciate the call out for my style. I still feel like I'm developing it, but I am so much more satisfied with it from where I started. Thanks a lot.
Saw the boogeyman at the shelter. Bloops are a nice touch. Loved it.
I don't have too many bloopers, but for some reason, I could not get my head straight on these days. Also, I may be fat and ugly but calling me the boogeyman isn't nice :(
Thanks so much for the info! 🥰 Happy hiking!
Hey Chef! I love your videos and I'll be hitting the Pinhoti Trail next week. I love your techno/EDM tunes. Gotta Spotify playlist you could share? 😊
I don't, but I'll give you the one song that I look at( i cant now since im backpacking,) then I use the "similar songs" to find what I'm looking for. I use the epidemic sound website for all my music. I'm so happy for you. Right now, I will be suck a PERFECT time for the Pinhotti Trail, I'm jealous! Say hi to all the views and people for me. It really was a near perfect trail. Good Luck!!
The song is: Power By Cushy. its also the one I used for my outro. So I look up that song, and see where the rabbit hole takes me :)
And lol he dug a perfect square
It's awesome to see what is ahead for us on The Path Thank you my friend
Absolutely loved this section, all the way to Cave Springs. Yall will love it
Very nice Damn... awesome video my friend Thank you it let's me know what's coming fir The Path
Haha! I was unsure of using that dam joke, but I just had too :) It's such an awesome section, and the Path will be amazing
It was awesome having you here my friend you and your are welcome back anytime Thank you
Absolutely! I look forward to it and more of that good cooking!
I had forgotten you did 18 miles that day, awesome job. I have seen us mentioned several times GreenHippies hiker hostel really looking forward to your next video!
Oh yea! Your headlights were mana from heaven! The next episode, we get to see all the friends on the homestead.
Great video once again Chef, thanks for sharing. Fijne zondag ✌️
Bedankt! I gotta use that term in my future videos, I said it a lot growing up. Fijne dag!
Mooie video’s, ik verheug me al op dag 9. Goedenacht!
Heel hartelijk bedankt! Ik wou dat ik vloeiend Nederlands kende, net als mijn vader en broer. Ik hoop dat google translate dit recht doet. Zie je later.
Thanks for the in-video translations!!!
Thank you. In retrospect.... I should have had them on a day one. Oh well! Thanks for dropping by!
I’m gonna check out your video’s on the Pinhoti since I’m very curious about the particular trail (after having thru-hiked its big brother in ‘22) As a Dutchman I was totally surprised being greeyed with Goedendag Iedereen 🙂. Where did that come from?
Hallo! Thanks for the watch and thanks for the future views :) I release every Sunday (or I try too) I am 3rd generation immigrant from Holland and I grew up in a very strong Dutch household. We celebrated St. Nick (Sinterklaas) instead of Santa. That kind of thing. I dont know dutch, but phrases and basic greetings existed. My last name is De Haan as well :) One of my dreams is to go back to where my ancestors are from and hike all around the Netherlands. Great job hiking the big bro! Its on my bucket list when my kids graduate. Ze ja later!
Makes me want to drop everything and get on the trail! Great job on this one… - JBEN⚡️
Who you tellin?! haha The more I make these videos the more I just want to start driving there and do it all over again. Thanks for the compliment! Means a lot coming from you
What language are you speaking and what are you saying when you sign off and at some other times in the video??? Tried to watch the closed caption to get it but the cc did not display what you said at those times.🤔🤔
It's dutch. I come from very, very strong, dutch heritage. (I'm 4th generation immagrant from the Netherlands) late va haan is "lets roll" or "Let's go" at the beginning. I say good morning, everyone. At the end, I say good night. Ze ja later is: see ya later. Thanks for asking! I really need to put captions on those phrases. Ze ja later!
Thank you!! I was guessing German but also thought Dutch ... and since there was no CC for it, I really did not have a clue@@chefegzyle
Just so everyone knows, I am VERY VERY aware that Next Step Hostel is in ALABAMA. I'm just retarded. :)
Next step hostel! But great video thank you for sharing
Thank you so much, as always! My next resupply will be with yall!
Nice hike and wow was that waterfall a trickle it was full when we past.
God knew I would spend way too much time taking pictures, so He made it a trickle to get me to move on faster, It also means I need to hike the trail again to see them at their fullest, reason 1000000 to come back
Wonderful trail and exploration!
Thank you so much!
Great video my fried you moving right along
Thanks mate, hope you, your hostel, and all your animals are doing great
Lovin it!
Thanks Bro!
Great video of the trail
Thank you! and thank yall so much for spreading so much love and joy to the Talladega area, it was such a highlight of the trail!
Hooo hooo hoo hah hah hah Pinhoti PINHOTI PINHOTI HOO HAH HOOO
“Those views are incredible” 🫵🏼🥴
It certainly was a trail to shout these things everyday. Thanks for the comment and view!
Well done! I love the Pinhoti. It is my home trail. New follower here. Crow✌️
Thank you so much! I checked out your channel and it look's great! New follower for you as well. I'm really jealous its your home trail, the thing was amazing! What state of the trail are you?
Excellent video... enjoyed every minute of it. Very good edit, I can appreciate that. I”m part of the Pinhoti Mafia and will share with the brothers to follow along too. SUBSCRIBING! Looking forward to your series. #PINHOTIFOREVER - JBEN⚡️HIKES
Holy crap THEE JBENHIKES! I've been subbed to you since I started doing my research on this trail. I found your videos helpful as I planned. You, Kelly Hayes, Dixie and Darwin were my main "go to's" for research. Its an honor and thank you! Keep up the good work.
@@chefegzyle Wow… thanks for the encouraging words! Not sure if I even belong in that company of hiking superstars. Glad you found some value in some of my Pinhoti Videos. That was always the my goal for them. I hoped they would help the next person coming along. Thanks for support! Now…, let’s get that next Pinhoti video of yours out….can’t wait to watch! -JB⚡️H
Enjoy your hike so far I can't wait to see the rest.
I did end up eating reviewing yalls food, which I loved, and thank you so much! Hopefully yall are still doing great.
Too cute! looks like a trouble maker.
He is! and knows it very well
If he’s next door, please train him to be quiet.

AWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My cat heard the video and came to help!
That's a good cat. One in a million there!
Great pack set up! One suggestion would be to dump the pump sack and get the flextailgear pump. Same or less weight and so much easier and it has a lantern for the tent! Also how much do those crocs weigh?
Great suggestion! Let me explain why I use the pump sack instead. I have 3 reasons. 1: The noise really bothers me, I would feel horrible if I came to a camp site late with people already there and had to use it. It's very obnoxious. 2: I need every scrap of my battery bank, and one less electronic to deal with is going to outweigh the positive. 3: I use my pump sack to also store my hiking clothes and my water filter so I can snuggle all of it easily at night, and it keeps the filter from cracking at freezing and when I put my clothes back on in the morning they're not freezing. Now, the flextail 2.0 that's on Kickstart looks amazing, and I might get that, but for now, this is a good system that I like. 👌 My Crocs are about half the weight of my altra olympus. Super light. Hope this helps! (Also, we have a flextail and on our family over nighters it DEFINITELY gets its use in )
❤❤😊❤❤
A fall hike is nice
Yea, it's breathtaking, and it's not even peak colors yet. Just wish there was more water. Two waterfalls were non-existent, so there's a trade-off. However, I am loving every minute here
