One week ago today (last Friday) I picked up my new Glock 31 .357 Sig just like you have here. I love that pistol & I am a big fan of.357 Sig
I always thought that this film was a mess. I just watched your follow up to the Wendy READING, I hate that people call it a theory because that's a Marvel film mentality where fans of a specific text want the filmmakers to explain what's going on and tell them what is canon, and how to interpret the film. That mentality has no place in cinematic analysis. When I seen the Wendy Theory video from Navarro, it was like a lightbulb turned on. Suddenly this film, which despite its strange moment to moment inconsistencies and unnecessary nature when you consider The Amityville Horror came out a year earlier went from making little sense for an entertaining and beautifully crafted film to suddenly being perhaps the best film that was ever made. Now, in my opinion this film is three films laid on top of one another; each with their own double or multilayered meanings. 1. A movie about a Man losing his mind and trying to kill his family and killing a hotel worker. 2. A movie about a Woman losing her mind and killing her husband. 3. A movie about Ghosts possessing a man to kill a hotel worker and his family. I think that Kubrick deliberately designed these stories to overlap on each other so that depending on the viewer, you'd have different readings of the film. I think that he wanted the surface to be a Ghost story. Then he wanted people to start thinking deeper about it and realize that it's about something different.. then he wanted those people to get torn on if it was about Jack losing his mind or Wendy losing hers. I don't think that Kubrick would remake The Amityville Horror in a hotel with better actors and a better production just to stick it to Stuart Rosenberg by showing how much better he can make a horror film.. I think he did that but I think he did it in a way that isn't actually making a movie that's all that similar to Amityville Horror. He's using King's book, with a story akin to Amityville Horror as a cover for another agenda and idea that is clearly now seen by the people open enough to accept it. Something that I haven't heard anyone talk about regarding this theory is the way that Jack tells Lloyd the story about hurting Danny's arm. Jack reminds me of a person pretending to be a woman telling a story. His mannerisms and his tone becomes very different and practically feminine. This never really made sense to me before seeing it as though Wendy is imagining Jack having that conversation rather than him actually saying these things. Another thing that I find interesting that isn't touched on is that after Danny is injured (now if you see this as a ghost story with ghosts in the building physically interacting with the living, you'll see this differently) he comes to Jack. If Jack was the one harming Danny, why would Danny make his way to where his father works and not go back to the apartment section to wait for his mom? It makes no sense unless what we're seeing is Wendy beating Danny to the room and Danny walking in and realizing that he's not capable of showing his Dad what his mom did to him because she's crossed that physical abuse line again. Something else that's touched on but not the way I see it.. and what article Jack is reading does somewhat get in the way of this.. but Jack reading the Playgirl magazine seems like it could be Wendy imagining that Jack is gay. If she's losing her mind and Jack has become less than attracted to her because she's more like a problem than a partner, perhaps Wendy is imagining that he's gay because Jack no longer comes onto her and she's telling herself that the problem is him and not her. One thing that's definitely real.. though is that some people can't stand this reading of the film, I've found. And for me that gives it so much more weight. To quote another movie... "Truth is like poetry.. and people fucking hate poetry." I think that this reading makes so much sense and explains so many details of this film that people who just WANT the film to be a ghost story or a story about a guy going nuts just get upset.. Sort of like when you logically explain something in an academic way to people who don't use academic trains of thoughts to form their opinions on topics, and the people you're explaining things to become upset and emotional because they WANT what they think and feel to be correct even though they're coming face to face with the reality that how they feel and what they think isn't actually sound. But I've had people try to tell me that quote.. "The Wendy Theory isn't REAL, or is Fake." Like a reading of a film isn't real.. it's ridiculous to suggest this considering that Kubrick didn't explain the film.. so any interpretation of the film is as valid as any other.. the thing that bothers people.. is that they want the MAJORITY of people to think the thing that they think.. so that what they think is validated for themselves. This reminds me of how religious minds work.. Religious people don't really typically believe what they say they do.. they want YOU to believe it, ,not for protection of your soul, but because they can't handle you disagreeing with it because that becomes further evidence that they're wrong or foolish. The more people believe something the easier it is for people to go along with that belief, even if it isn't in reality a belief of theirs but just what they're subscribing to as a way to fit in with a majority of people in their community or family who are also saying that they believe something. It's like that experiment where they take a bunch of people into a room.. and they tell 9 out of 10 people that when the shape is revealed in the room, to say it's a square no matter what the shape is but that 10th person hasn't been told to do that.. but then calls a circle a square because they don't want to be the only person in the room saying that the shape they're seeing is a circle.. The need to fit in with the group is stronger than the need to be logical to an alarming cross section of people in the world today despite the large amount of intelligence that people possess as animals. I've also seen many people suggesting that if you subscribe to the Wendy reading of the film you're a misogynist.. So basically people who are saying that if you read this film as though a woman could be the problem its a misogynist perspective... BUT if you see it as a story about a man being crazy and being the problem it's NOT a misandrist reading. This is clearly a way to try to attack the person interpreting the film as to discredit their reading of the film as to give automatic permission for disregarding the analysis. Which is pathetic honestly. If you're attacking a person for having an interpretation of a film that differs from yours it's an obvious insecurity that stems from only one thing... Your idea about the film is nothing but filled with holes and motivated by wanting the story to be about what you think its about and not being open to the possibility that you are WRONG about how you're analyzing the film or.. in most cases, NOT analyzing the film but just watching it, taking everything at face value and accepting that it is what it is, even though great films are never that. But yea.. I agree with the Wendy reading quite a bit.. I would suggest that it is in fact the main layer to the film and that the other layers are designed to be surface narratives for people. A Ghost Story for people who want to see a Ghost Story and a Slasher Film about a crazy guy for people who want that.
The most concise way of explaining 357SIG is this, it's a 9mm cartridge but for straight men.

Also 357 Sig is max loaded with 40,000psi while 357 Mag has 35,000psi as max pressure. Many complain about the blast of 357 Sig. But since there is no cylinder gap like with the 357 Mag revolvers it still must be less . Or is it the higher pressure?

Thanks for uploading this video. I was doing some sump development and trying to get my head around this product (or why the hell it has two plumbing connections?) and finally I've found something that shows what the actual part is like. Being in Australia I can't just walk into a store and look at one. Unfortunately, a pick-up that swings fore-and-aft in my sump is totally unnecessary, I would want to fit one that swings left-and-right but the packaging of that with the crank hanging down certainly makes it a little harder. Interesting food for thought!
I have one on my 505 stroker/ 440. No complaints, even with higher quantity of crankcase pressures.
I think you should have laid out why, in your own terms and experience of working in the field, why you think wendy is borderline schizoid and what in her character/behavior led you to this potential conclusion. Other than that, interesting.
@@baptm727 great comment. Maybe I alluded too much to my “working in the field”. I have no degree in psychology, My experience is that of a state peace officer working in a psychiatric facility for 16 years. My facility has an adult psychiatric unit, a children’s unit, and a large violent sexual predator unit. I do interact with all the patients here, as well as the psychiatric staff to a very high level. We see and manage a massive amount of different behaviors, and psychosis. This experience gives me an insight into how certain points of the wendy theory are completely plausible, because Ive seen how different patient’s psychosis displays itself. (Such as Dannys tooth brushing episode… I have literally witnessed a child trauma reaction extremely similar to that) As well my own grandmother suffered from high level paranoid schizophrenia. To try and finish off my rambling… If you can understand that wendy may actually be hallucinating some of the movie and it is totally real to her, it does explain certain scenes very well. But I will always say I believe the film is about multiple sub plots. Or possibly its a choose your own adventure film. Thanks for watching
Also, she seems to be a compulsive reader....and maybe she herself would like to be a writer or that her husband should be a writer to satisfy her but he is not...
nice job...I would also add a couple of things that are so obvious to note they arent: 1. the mere look and countenance of Wendy is disturbing. 2. She smokes many times very close to her son, ...long cigarettes..

It's my woods caliber. I own a 10 and have become proficient with it but it's to big for my hands and the G20 compared to the G23 (drop in barrel) carries like a rock. What I really like about the round is it's accurate out to 200 yards. The American West is full of criminal activity and I don't feel as out gunned with this round and the capacity. Something like that scenario will problebly never happen but I feel better with this round. My 9 dances bowling pins. My 357 Sig explodes bowling pins.
Is 9mm equal to or superior to 357 Sig? Let’s think about that for ourselves for just a moment, shall we? I get it that some people pick a side and feel the need to defend their choice, but not to the extent of regurgitating pure nonsense that they themselves were misinformed on. Some ammo manufacturers actually have loads that even surpasses the ballistics of traditional 357 magnum performance. Underwood's 357 SIG Gold Dot for example. Also because it’s a bottleneck cartridge it has the added benefit of feeding more reliably than other pistol rounds. It’s flat shooting and will punch through auto glass like it was butter. It’s literally a 9mm projectile “except” because it’s 225-300 fps faster it penetrates most barriers as well as 10mm yet doesn’t over penetrate flesh, which is welcomed to aid in avoiding collateral damage. It has a flatter trajectory that in turn makes it more accurate and potent at distance. Though the penetration is no greater than 9mm in flesh, the cavity damage is much more devastating making it more likely to stop a threat with less shots. 357 Sig Compact and Subcompact firearms actually have more energy than an equivalent sized barrel length 10mm. Even out of as much as a 4” barrel, Underwood 125gr 357 Sig has the energy that’s equal to or greater than most 10mm loads with the exception of a few specialty loads. Basically 10mm energy only surpasses 357 Sig out of longer full size barrel lengths. Underwood has a 357 Sig 65gr Xtreme Penetrator round that exceeds 2250+ fps out of just a 6” barrel. I don’t know of any other semiautomatic pistol caliber that has rounds capable of such velocities from a handgun. It goes straight through a 3A panel even. At those velocities normally temporary cavities tear. One of the most attractive benefits of owning a 357 Sig is the ability to convert the firearm to 40 S&W & 9mm with nothing more than a simple barrel swap. You also normally can do a 357 Sig or 9mm conversion if you own a 40 S&W firearm as well. That means you can train on whatever platform you’re most comfortable with and whatever ammo is the most affordable, and no it isn’t always 9mm. That means that you are less hindered by ammo shortages… and when you’re done training simply swap out the barrel and ammo back to 357SIG and you’re all set. Sadly on a native 9mm firearm you don’t have any option to do a conversion. I never understood what’s not to like about 357 SIG… well other than ammunition availability and cost being the only negatives I guess, but it is the better round. Keep in mind that when you compare 9mm +P or +P+ to try to achieve 357 Sig performance, 357 Sig is actually cheaper than 9mm. When I searched +P+ to get as close to 357 Sig performance as possible, it was more expensive than a standard 357 Sig JHP round. 9mm +P+ is still only 1300 fps in 124 grain. That’s 50 fps slower than the lowest end 125 grain Sig round at 1350 fps and we’re comparing +P+ 9mm ammo here. Yet the bare minimum 357 Sig performance isn’t even achievable and this is usually attempted in a platform that isn’t even recommended for +P+ or even +P at times. I say it’s best to swap to a 9mm conversion barrel when training and back to 357 Sig right before you’re all done to finish up with 357 to cut that expense down. In most cases the recoil of any superior round can be overcome with training. I actually have little to no recoil on one of my setups. It’s compensated. You’ll find that comps actually provide greater compensation with 357 Sig compared to 9mm because of the higher pressures. I do understand that some people are recoil sensitive and are more comfortable with 9mm or other lower recoiling rounds. I understand some just prefer the thought of higher capacity. I totally understand your decisions. But let’s not bash any superior round because you prematurely decided on a specific one. Naturally shot placement, especially with pistol calibers is key… but under pressure understandably, your shot placement could be lacking. With that in mind the welcomed advantages of 357 Sig could easily make the difference between life and death, shot placement aside. Keep in mind that mag dumping 9mm into a target may not be justifiable. Back in the old days when the revolver was supreme, you were trained to take two shots and then assess the effectiveness. Essentially those first two shots may be justifiable, but the next 15 shots may not be. Again with that in mind, a more powerful caliber will require less shots to stop a threat, while decreasing the chances of any wrongdoing. There’s nothing wrong with 9mm it’s awesome, but let’s be clear… it isn’t equal to 357 Sig and the few extra rounds it’s capable of holding in a magazine over 357 Sig definitely doesn’t make it the superior choice. In time I expect 357 Sig to make the comeback that 10mm has made in recent years… For myself these 357 Sig advantages make 9mm less desirable. How about for you? 10mm vs 357 Sig, both properly loaded out of a compact barrel are equal in power. Out of the same full size length barrel lightly loaded (weak) 357 Sig is more powerful than lightly loaded (weak) 10mm. Properly loaded 10mm out of a full size is more powerful than properly loaded 357 Sig but at that point 10mm is typically more expensive than 357 Sig. But for urban carry 357 Sig is highly enjoyable to carry. I love 10mm, especially in 155gr and under but the firearms need to be larger to outshine 357 Sig. For woods with larger predators I would absolutely chose 10mm over 357 Sig but truthfully if I was going into said woods, would 10mm be enough? I would have to step in up to 44 Mag. 10mm is in a position that has little use for me even with it being the awesome round that it is. Unless I was carrying a 4.5-5” full size in urban areas but that would be overkill with what 357 Sig achieves.
Thanks for good useful information. This is exactly what I do. I practice with 9mm I use 45.50 rounds, then I put .40 s&w I use 25 rounds. Then I put on the .357 sig and fire 10 rounds. carry the .357 sig for me it is better for self defense.
I dont think that 357 Sig will make a comeback. Even the Secret Service used it but went with 9mm now. No one say 9mm is equal to 40S&W or 357 Sig but its good enough. At least that is their point of view. There are no guns in production in 357 Sig. Just Glock has the Gen 4 357 Sigs didnt even updated for the Gen 5. It was a kind of surprise that they updated the 27/23/22 to Gen 5. But 40S&W also was much more popular than 357 Sig.
@@Gieszkanne What you wrote unfortunately is true!
@@Gieszkanne truthfully speaking, it doesn’t even ever have to make a comeback. It will always be available. During the pandemic when you couldn’t find 9 mm guess what 357 was available. And even with those cases aside, you will always be able to get 357 if you wanted it. Does it cost more money? Sure but only the best for my family and I.
@@TransformersHoarder We are talking about two different things here. 357 Sig for pistols in production is almost dead. But of course you can still get ammo for much more exotic calibers that never were a thing like 9 mm Ultra/Police. Fiocci is the only one that offer ammo in that caliber. I guess in your life time you will not experience that no manufacturer will offer 357 Sig.

In a french interview, Kubrick says that he gives the answer when Grady opens the door to let Jack out. The hotel is haunted. Kubrick's version for me is about mental illness that trauma, alcoholism and legacy can infuse a family's destruction.
Should master all your weapons without optics on the range.. this way, when in combat, your still a viable kill shooter when required or needed.
Just demonstrating here that my personal experience is that handgun optics aren’t necessarily a must. If you like em great. But at most defense ranges, iron sights can be just fine.
When I got back into firearms it was for defense not hunting. I got an AR and put my first red dot on it. I find that once dialed in I found target acquisition to be much faster than irons. I’m about to get a new hand gun with a red dot on it. I think at self defense distances a red dot is good. That being said my sks is very accurate with the iron sights, especially at defense distances.
