The acronym D.R.G.M. with or without punctuation stands for Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster, meaning that the design or function of an item was officially registered inside all of the Germany states and not only locally registered as it was the case before the introduction of centralized registration. Note that many people quote this acronym as standing for Deutsches Reich D.R.G.M. registration...
1920s Keystone Iron City- Hand Crank Grinder Restoration
Переглядів 53610 місяців тому
The company manufactured metalworking machinery, primarily hand-cranked tool grinders for railroad use. Some are marked with their "Iron City" brand name, which should not be confused with unrelated Pittsburgh tool companies with the Iron City name. Keystone also made the Vibraphone boat air horn around 1920. While exact dates of operation are not available, they were still advertising in 1952.

Thanks a lot @0007Bull !
How much does it weight?
It's about 10 kilos.
@@restorecreate I was lucky to find one just waiting for it to arrive. Seller says it works but not sure, so I hope I can get it back to working condition.
I can see one of the gears has a broken teeth. If one is to replace this part would it be hard to find one?
О. Конструкция, которую я повторю из стали. В меньшем масштабе. Показано подробно. Плюс.
I don't understand what you're saying...
@@restorecreate I'll make the same ones, only made of steel. With the same design.
Πολύ ωραία δουλειά μπράβο Γιάννη
Γερασιμε σε ευχαριστω !
Это прекрасно! ❤ Благодарю! 🌺
Спасибо, мой друг.
Do u prefer swivel vise or non swivel? I mean with rotatable base.
I prefer with swivel base.
A good find. These pre WWII Record #84 vices were made of cast steel and are very tough indeed compared to plain cast iron ones. I have the #36P and it handles all can throw at it.
Indeed, they have very good quality.

NO SIR - Wrench teeth do not melt.

I got a 2K for restoration but I never done it
Why ? start it know !
Nicely done I just did a atlas master.
Thanks @Woodyt !
Do u no how to calabirare as to one apat like this and one nut and bolt was out put it back in but not sure if right
This scale is adjusted by a screw on the top.
Nope. Turn the spring core on each spring equally in or our depending on the calibration requirements. If the weight is "easy" past the mark then turn the spring core IN. Trust me I'm second generation scale man. My dad worked at Salter, West Bromwich, UK for almost 30 yrs. At that's not how you take the finger (pointer) off. !

How do u know which is positive and negative
The positive is the cable with the letters.
Well, I suppose it cost you nothing but time to attempt restoration on that vernier. Compared to how it started out you did a great job. That said, much as i am a fan of ressurecting dead tools i also believe that sometimes one will find a tool that logic says is past the point of putting the effort into. At least, that is my opinion after exerting a lot of time and energy in a tool that I should not have put the effort into. Each tool like this is a learning experience. If nothing else, you hone your restoration skills and learn good and bad lessons about restoration. For me, those lessons taught me skills, but also taught me what tools were not worth my effort. For me, I would never have even made an attempt to restore that tool. But for you, well, perhaps the lessons learned made your efforts worthwhile. The lessons i spoke of learning come from a lot of trial, and error, or at least that was how it worked for me.
I will agree with you in everything you said, but I think that every tool has run its course and has written its history in the hands of someone, it would be a shame not to deal with it or to throw it in the trash, otherwise it has no value and I won't even work on it, I just gave him a chance to sleep quietly and cleanly in my drawer. Just another experience. Thank you for the conversation we had.
I think you may have missed my point. I applauded your effort to restore the tool. By attempting to restore a tool so far gone, you learn valuable lessons to employ on future restorations without risking a tool having real value. In the attempt, you returned a degree of respectability to the tool anyway, so by no means were your efforts wasted or without merit. In fact, I have undertaken similar projects myself. One lesson I have learned in those projects was which tools to not drag home again because prior restoration projects taught what can be restored to a tool I would trust (in this case, accuracy) and those too far gone to bring back to a satisfactory user level. This was by no means a wasted effort unless you several others that look just like it sitting on a shelf.
I understand that each of us is saying the same thing in a different way, I didn't misunderstand anything, but I also agree with your point of view. And thank you again!
That's a perfect restoration! 👏
Thank you @dingsbums1627.
That's a beautiful little vise. Nicely done sir

@restorecreate Yeah YT sucks
Never enough tools i say.
Thats right ,never enough !
Really nice video!! I've just purchased a blowtorch just like this. Now I know how to restore it. ;-)
Thanks a lot @sveinarnesletten.
I have found one exactly the same as this one two years ago while old building was demolished. It was in much worse condition but i could not leave it. It was welded by the previous owner to the steele bench so i had to make new holding ears. Anvill part was beaten up so i have welded new layer of steele and i made it flat again on milling machine. I had to install replacable jaws beacouse old monolith jaws where destroyed, genuine Heuer 160mm backen where fitted and they work great, gap was milled and allan screws installed. I have machined new bronze thrust washer and new handle from 42CrMo4. Handle and spindlle head where blued, rest of vise i had painted in navy blue hardcoat shipp paint. I assume that it is more than 60 years old. Too bad i have not filmed complete process.
With all that I've read, I understand that you had a lot of patience to sit down and make all this, Well done!
Nice! Perhaps know where one could source the plastic cover for these scales?
From what I searched on the internet, some had and some didn't, all the ones that had, had on the side to be screwed, now I don't know if you ask the company and they have it as a spare part. Thanks !
@@restorecreate I tried all over. I can’t find it anywhere. I see Malaysia has, but do not ship international, unfortunately.
