Shannon Pezzolla shares her passion for puzzles - from jigsaw puzzle brand reviews, puzzle hauls and more!
I've been putting jigsaw puzzles together for a LONG time, and I can tell you without reservation that I am thoroughly addicted! From the moment I put together my first puzzle, I was instantly hooked. It's the only consistent hobby that I've had throughout my life, and one that I have every intention of practicing until I kick the bucket.
I'm also persnickety - which means I'm picky and care a whole lot about quality. Jigsaw puzzles are super-popular right now, and there are TONS of new and exciting brands out there. I'm here to let you know about the brands worth buying from AND the brands to avoid.
This channel is all about jigsaw puzzles. There are going to be lots of jigsaw puzzle brand reviews, puzzle hauls, puzzle time lapses and more! Stay tuned!

Puzzle Off: Pomegranate vs Art & Fable!
How big is your puzzle room? You have so many beautiful puzzles. How do you store and display them. How do you cut down, do you ever sell or give them away? Do a giveaway to get people to subscribe. Having a chance to win a puzzle I can’t afford would be fun. Just a suggestion. Show us your storage room please. 🎶
Wow. I don’t know how you afford so many puzzles. Love so many of them. I enjoy seeing so many brands that I haven’t seen. Beautiful puzzles. 💕
I turn to my stack of books waiting to read. Or I do a diamond painting. Don’t fret, you will come around, enjoy the break. ❤
The cubes puzzle looks like something you would see qbert jumping on
🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏💕💕💕
Not much of a fan of Springbok puzzles. I put my money on other brands with better quality. Good review. 💕
Thinking of you and hoping all is well. Miss your wonderful videos!
Shannon. Summer is over and it is about to be Halloween. You need to come back, I miss you
Hi Shannon! Sorry to hear about the puzzle funk. It’s okay. You’ll get back to it when you feel like it. I really enjoy crochet, so that’s my guess what you are doing. Let me know if you want to get together for a walk sometime soon. A little sunshine and exercise always makes me feel better ❤
Shannon, I hope you are feeling like puzzling again. We miss you.
When is the next puzzle olympics?
Hi there! There is a Winter Puzzle Olympics but I am not sure of the dates yet! Thanks for watching and for commenting! :0)
So funny that you don't like the squishy feel of the puzzle pieces, because I love, love, love that squishy feel, and I can't stand the hard feeling of brands like Galison or Mudpuppy - yuck.
Oh my, I cannot STAND squishy puzzle pieces!!! Different strokes for different folks I guess! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment!! :0)
Just checking on you. Hope you are enjoying your puzzle break.
I am! Thanks for checking on me! I really appreciate it! :0)
I once pried myself out a puzzle funk by selecting some of my lower count puzzles (mostly 300 piece and some 500 piece puzzles), drove over to a senior day recreation center, donated them, and stayed just long enough to meet some of the seniors and share some of my puzzle assembly tips. I found that by reaching out to others, I somehow recaptured my desire to puzzle. Something to keep in mind is that it is natural to take a break from an activity for a while and maybe that is all you need. Like others here, I would guess your new interest is diamond painting.
Hi Maggie! I know I'll come back to my puzzles at some point. I appreciate your comments and also for the fact that you have been watching my channel for a LONG time now. Thank you for caring enough to comment. :0)
I'm not sure i can support a more expensive puzzle when they ise AI to generate their images. As they are putting less overhead into their puzzles by not licensing or commissioning artists.
Hi there! I hear ya. As it turns out, I believe Peatsy Puzzles is no longer in business. Their price point is just too high for a new brand when you can get puzzles with the same or better quality for less. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
Oh dear, you are not in a happy place at the moment are you. 😢 I think the term is known as burn out. I wonder if you have been buying too many and feel obliged to do them all? That would be putting too much pressure on yourself. Whatever your new hobby is I hope it is something completely different. Eventually you will get back to puzzles perhaps because you have seen an exciting image. May I suggest that you set yourself a target of only buying a set (small) number of puzzles each month? There is no obligation to buy vast quantities of puzzles to the extent that you never get through them all. Do smaller counts. I've done very low count puzzles just for fun, usually kids ones. I recently did a set of four 100 piece puzzles called Shopkins, Ravensburger brand, just for the sheer fun of doing so. Take your time, get out into the fresh air and return when you are ready. I know what it is like to be short, I'm 5' 1" myself. My apologies for rabbiting on rather. 🐇See you again when you are ready.
Hi PuzzlePiece! Yep, I am BURNT OUT!! And yes, I have DEFINITELY bought too many puzzles! I do still love puzzling and will get back to it at some point. Thank you for caring and taking the time to comment! :0)
I would not buy the A&F precisely because of the artwork being more saturated, and would buy the pomegranate over it! Because the pomegranate one is closer and truer to the actual painting by Olga! She painted it to be a cool tone with blues and greys more prominent with a cold feeling to this artwork. I don’t like the tweaking a&f has done to warm up the artwork and saturate it unnecessarily. Thanks for the video anyways, very interesting
Hi there! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
Diamond painting is your new hobby
How are you doing? I miss your posts but more importantly, I miss your fun personality.
Hi there! Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I am doing OK. Still in a funk and hoping it will go away. Thanks for the kind words. :0)
Thinking of you Shannon. Love your content. Put on some clips on Raygun to cheer yourself up 😅
Hi Rachel! Um... no, just NO! NOT RAYGUN!!! She was god-awful!! (Thanks for trying to cheer me up).
Im looking for a good challenge
Miss your content. Hope your puzzle mojo is coming back!
Hi there! Thanks a bunch for your kind words. Unfortunately, my puzzle funk hasn't lifted yet. I'm still hoping I will get back to my old self soon. Thanks a lot for watching and for taking the time to comment. :0)
Hi there! What exactly do you mean by sorting the edge pieces...you mean the pieces that have exact the same form of shape?
Hi Claire. The edge pieces are the pieces that border the puzzle. It's kind of like the frame of the puzzle. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
Oh 😥, just tuned in to your video and read all of these lovely comments Shannon. Your videos have been fantastic and if that is it we want to say “thank you so much”. Your new hobbie is something musical (guessing!). If you get back into jigsaws we’d love a video but completely understand a break is needed. Warmest wishes from Melbourne Australia. Mark+Chris😄😎
Hi Mark! Awww... thank you so much for your completely kind words. I'm still taking a break but I will be back with more videos and the reveal of my new hobby! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and for your comments! :0)
I agree possibly diamond painting.
Brands made USA
I do not care for them past and now I tried older and they were have moldly smell . I pass them at thrift stores .
Hi there! Yep, Springbok has definitely declined over the years. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
I am also in a bit of a puzzle funk! Haven't really felt like puzzling which is strange for me too! I've just been busy with other things, like work and life, but it's pretty rare when i don't totally want to puzzle. I don't know how to get out of it, but maybe find a cute, bright, small count puzzle to do while watching tv! Sometimes just puzzling for the fun of it helps. Hope you find some peace and happiness and some puzzle fun! 🥰🧩 On a side note, I remember waiting every 4 years for the olympics. Gymnastics has always been my favorite event as well! And ice skating!
Hi there! Glad to hear I am not alone in my puzzle funk! I know that it will pass but it sure is taking it's sweet time! And I forgot all about the ice skating! I LOVE that event as well. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment! :0)
Wow! This was an amazing video and it must have taken you forever to put it together. I love listening to your reasoning reasoning about the puzzles and it given me new ways to think about mine. I’m just on my tenth puzzle as an adult puzzler and I find it all very interesting.
Hi Evelyn! Yes, this video was time-consuming, but I really enjoyed putting it together. I will always have a soft spot for Springbok puzzles, cuz that's where my puzzling addiction started. I really appreciate you watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
I definitely have ups and downs with puzzling. My guess for your new hobby is diamond painting.
Hi there! Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! :0)
Thanks for the update. Nothing wrong with a break. Take the time to enjoy the rest of the Olympics. I plan to watch the opening ceremonies again! Try some smaller puzzles to get back into the groove. I took five days off and was afraid I’d lost my motivation and I’d have loads of unassembled puzzles representing money down the drain! I also think when you have an overwhelming amount of puzzles it’s hard to make a choice where to resume.
Hi there! Totally agree with you - it is really, REALLY hard to pick what puzzle to do next when I have over 1000 to choose from. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
You have been missed. Hope you can get a nice break and come back, but if not ultimately you have to take care of yourself first. ❤
Hi Pam! Glad to hear that I have been missed. I really miss my viewers. I am sure that I will be back, I just need to step away for a bit. Thanks a lot for watching and for commenting! :0)
Hi. I had noticed your absence and was looking back on your prior posts so that I could comment and ask where you have been. Well, I never got around to doing that so I was very excited to see your new post. However, I was dismayed to hear that you are in a puzzle funk. You inspire me to try new brands (I love your brand review videos), and have cost me a bit of change in trying out new puzzles (certainly not a complaint). I’m not sure what your new hobby could be (color by number, diamond painting?), but would love to see you back with your extensive and informative videos. Perhaps, since you have been in a funk for 5 weeks and not purchased any new puzzles (good presumption?), you might want to use that ‘saved’ money that would have been spent and splurge on a new coveted puzzle that you have wanted for quite some time and couldn’t justify spending lots of money on. Now, you can go out, get that 1 special (slightly over budget) puzzle and start on assembling it. That might give you a lift of some sort. I can’t be the only one of your 1000+ subscribers who misses your content. Please come back to us!!!!
Hi Susan! Thank you so much for your kind words! Glad to hear that I have been missed. Also happy to hear that I have inspired you to try new brands! I wish I could say that I had saved money by NOT puzzling, but the EXACT opposite is true! All the money I usually spend on puzzles has gone into my new hobby, which I will reveal in my next video! Thanks a bunch for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
So sorry to hear that you are in a puzzle funk 😕. Maybe it's just been too much puzzling? I've been wondering how you are knocking out all of those 1000 piece puzzles one by one 😮. A little break might not be a bad idea. You might just be "puzzled out". Smaller piece counts and no puzzling for a month? I'm sure the joy will find you again. In the meantime, enjoy the other hobby. I find it hard to only do one thing so I switch between puzzling, letter/card writing, crafting, diamond painting, organizing the house... There is simply too much to do to only stick to one hobby! Thank you for sharing! I think it's good to hear for other people that it can happen (and will happen) to anyone. Also... Maybe just enjoy the Olympics & the summer? It might just not be the time...
Hi PuzzleMom! Yes, I think I just puzzled myself out. I am also sure that with time, I will come back to puzzling and enjoy it just as much as I used to. I will let you know what my new hobby is in my next video. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
@@persnicketypuzzler Sounds good :)!
Hello Shannon, I'm so glad you're physically okay (I was getting concerned)! Please focus on whatever is soothing to your mental health and brings you joy. Sending you a virtual hug! Like other commenters, I love your puzzle videos and am so glad you've not transitioned to speed puzzling like many other UA-cam puzzle channels have! Please take your time with returning to posting UA-cam puzzle videos and it's okay to never return to posting UA-cam puzzle videos if that's best for you although of course we'll miss you! Perhaps consider returning to puzzling and doing your wonderful puzzle videos in a way that's less stressful -- maybe less frequently with fewer puzzles in a video ... My guess is your new hobby is diamond painting or something else that's artistic and involves creating with your hands because of how attracted you've been to beautiful puzzle images and how much you've enjoyed using your hands to assemble puzzles! Take good care of yourself, Jude
Hi Jude! Thank you for your kind words. I think I just puzzled myself out. And yes, I'm not a speed puzzler and I doubt I ever will be - it is just TOO stressful! I will let you know what my new hobby is in my next video. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
Sorry you're in a funk. Either try some smaller piece counts in simpler images so there's not a lot of commitment to it (like 300 pieces, max 500) OR try putting together a few of your all-time favorite puzzles--something you had an absolute blast doing. The key is finding the joy or spark that made you love puzzling in the first place. If that doesn't work, enjoy the new hobby and try puzzling at another time. I know the feeling--I need another hobby/obsession like I need another hole in my head. LOL!
Hi Rhonda! Great suggestions for me to try. I'm going to work on the new hobby for now. Thanks a bunch for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
I have missed you on here, you have always been my favorite. I stopped following a lot of puzzle channels because it seemed like most of them are all about speed puzzling now. Always looked forward to yours though so I noticed your absence. Both of us will be saving money now because I have bought quite a few based on your reviews and your hauls. Take care and I look forward to your next video, no matter how long it takes.
Hi there! Awww... thank you for your kind words - they really lift me up! Yep, it seems speed puzzling is all the rage, and I find that timing myself while I puzzle just stresses me out. I just want to puzzle at my own pace and enjoy the process. Glad to hear that I have helped you add to your collection (tee hee). Anyway, stay tuned to find out what my new hobby is. Thank you so much for watching and for commenting. :0)
I completely understand the funk! The only way I have found to get myself out is with mini puzzles or really simple kid ones that I can time myself on! As far as your new hobby, my guesses are diamond painting or cross stitching.
Hi there! For me, timing my puzzling just adds to my stress level! I don't think speed puzzling and I go together. Anyway, stay tuned to find out what the new hobby is. Thanks so much for watching and for commenting. :0)
I think the puzzle funk and depression go hand in hand. When you need a break, you need a break! Every time I get out of the puzzling mood, I watch other youtube puzzlers, like you!. That usually gets me out of it. Getting a new hobby usually ends up with me dropping the previous one. I had to drop my cross stitch (is that your new hobby? Or maybe needle felting?) because my fingers just don't work that well these days. Very fine motor work with my fingers is difficult. I had actually not been puzzling that much until that happened back in 2019, then puzzling seemed like the way to keep my hands busy without have to work my fingers in ways they don't want to work! As for the Olympics, I agree with you about Simone Biles. She has been so amazing in the sport. Gymnastics was my second favorite and my mom's favorite to watch. We were an Olympics family, too! But my favorite were all the horse events, of course. I no longer watch TV, except maybe to stream a movie or watch Star Trek reruns. Anyway, let's see what your new hobby is! My niece just started needle felting and she's super artistic.
I really hope my new hobby does not lead to me dropping my puzzling hobby! That would be a DISASTER! Wow! You no longer watch TV? Do you listen to audiobooks or podcasts? I cannot imagine giving up TV! Stay tuned to find out what my new hobby is! Thanks so much for watching and for commenting! :0)
@@persnicketypuzzler Yes, I listen to lots of podcasts, but I also listen to music a lot, too.
Hi Shannon ! I'm really happy to see you again ! I just want to share that I am too in a "no puzzle" phase. I dont worry about it too much. Summer is here, I want to be outside and paint. I know that my massive puzzle collection can wait a few months for me :). I feel like you dont need to put pressure on this "puzzle funk" you are in. Just appreciate your days and you ll see if you go back to it or not ! Treat the depression first. Sport is always good. If you choose to talk about something else than puzzle on your channel, I'd still watch you as you seem rather Lovely, funny and smart. I am sure I am not the only one thinking that. Kisses from France 🇨🇵😘
I have been wondering where you were! I'm so sorry that you're in a funk. When I'm in a puzzle funk it's usually because I've worked on too many puzzles or puzzles that have frustrated me. I get out of it by working easy or smaller piece counts. My favorite niche sport is canoe slalom! I think breakdancing is cool but not as an Olympic sport-especially with Raygun. She was awful! As far as guessing the new hobby- maybe diamond painting or paint by number??? Interested in seeing what it is. Good luck with your puzzle funk and hopefully there is some lightness ahead for you.
Hi there! I think I tried to put too many puzzles together over a short period of time, which led to my funk. Hubby and I have really enjoyed the canoe slalom. It's a free-for-all! I really hope breakdancing does not come back to the games - I HATED it! I'll reveal the new hobby in my next video. Thanks so much for watching and for commenting! :0)
Sorry to hear about your puzzle slump. I've experienced similar slumps in other hobbies. One is growing plants. And that is bad. During a slump, I've lost plants that I treasured 😢 ( think of that, you don't have to WATER your puzzles 😮) ok, don't push yourself. I think you have figured this out. (We all appreciate you - but we can wait). In the meantime, a new hobby is not a bad idea - just dilute it a bit. This may or may not help. When I found myself unable to care well for my plants - I would do things that seem ridiculous - like reorganizing them, put a plant list into a new database app, making detailed lists of each plant with their colors, hybridizers, growth habit - - you get the picture. I could see enjoy the organizational parts - but I had overwhelmed myself with plants. Scaling back is a necessity I think. Talk to your puzzles, particularly your favorites and why you like. How did that puzzle make you feel. ( but don't rework it - not now). Then just rest your brain ( could it be rebelling ?? You ask a lot of it ). And get back to brushing the cats, taking walks. Take Care ❤❤❤
Hi Gail! Well, I am *definitely* going to scale back. I will be entering the hallowed puzzle storage room and doing a major weeding out of puzzles that no longer interest me. Just doing that alone will make me feel better. I love organizing things so I will probably enjoy that. So sorry to hear you lost some treasured plants during your slump! I'm a plant lover myself and go thru phases with them as well. Thanks for all the suggestions! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. :0)
Hi Shannon, I’ve been there but not with puzzles. I do puzzles, knit and crochet, read and have been known to do some Bob Ross painting. I’m currently in a knitting and crocheting funk, but as I have my other hobbies to enjoy I don’t feel the void or loss of a hobby. I delighted to hear therefore that you are exploring another hobby and hopefully soon you’ll want to puzzle again soon and having both will mean it’s less likely to burn out and if you do (like me) you won’t feel the void.
Hi there! Your words about having add'l hobbies are making me feel less guilty about having more than one hobby! I just wish my hobbies didn't cost so much money! Really appreciate you watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
Women’s breaking was awful but men’s breaking was great! 😂 And as a person who tends to jump from hobby to hobby, try not to feel bad about your slump. Just go with what’s making you happy at the moment and try to puzzle when you can. Maybe set a time for yourself, like you’ll puzzle today for 30 minutes or something.
Hi there! I unfortunately watched the Women's Breaking and it was god-awful! I will go back and check out the Men's. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! :0)
Was thinking about this overnight. I was an avid runner and had to let it go because of foot and knee issues. You mentioned you were crazy about the Olympics and most sports. If you can take time to walk outside in nature, I find that really helps with my own depression. Just hearing the birds and bees and feeling the weather (I even go out if it's misty) helps with my emotional balance. It really works if you can manage. Wishing you a happy and healthy summer. 🥰
Hi Sharon! Yes, I need to get out more. I tend to be a homebody, and I really need to get out of the house! Thanks for your suggestions and for taking the time to comment! :0)
I watch puzzle videos when I am looking for inspiration!
Good to hear!
I was wondering why no new videos were being posted. Perhaps it is time to "move on" to something else, but it seems to me you have been doing this for most of your life, so maybe you simply need an "extended break". If you do return to puzzling, maybe just do an occasional puzzle. I have all the puzzles I want, except for two that I would like from Blue Kazoo by Alisa Lariushkina. That is where I will draw the line. I have unsubscribed from puzzle websites except for Ravensburger and Blue Kazoo. Eventually I will unsubscribe from all of them. Unless there is some piece of artwork I cannot resist, I would rather rebuild what I have. I now own about 50 puzzles. I do not puzzle every day. Sometimes I go for a few days or even weeks between working on a puzzle. Since I am not into "speed puzzling", it takes me a long time to build a puzzle. I have some other interests, also. One of my cats crossed the rainbow bridge about a month ago, and so my heart is broken. It slows my puzzling process down even more, but sometimes it is a healthy escape. I am working on Ravensburger / Dean MacAdam's "Look Out Little Pigs" puzzle at the moment, and it makes me laugh just looking at the image. I probably need that right now . . . Take a break and enjoy something else for awhile. If you never return, that is okay, too. Life is a journey. You could probably make some money on selling some of your puzzles.
Hi Sharon. I agree with you - I just need an extended break. I have all the puzzles I can possibly want, and at this point, adding more just adds to my stress level. I am also not a speed puzzler; it just stresses me out! I am so sorry to hear you lost one of your cats. It is devastating to lose a member of your family. Love Dean MacAdam's puzzles - happy to hear you are able to laugh while putting one of his puzzles together. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments. :0)
My interest in various hobbies come and go. I usually come back to them, but it takes a long time sometimes. When I find myself uninterested in any of my hobbies, it is time for me to travel somewhere, to explore someplace new and get out of my routine. If I want to get back into a hobby that I have put on hold, I usually start with something fun, quick, and easy. For puzzles, that would be a 100-300 piece puzzle. I know that isn't your usual kind of puzzle, but trying something outside of the norm is what usually gets me interested in a hobby again.
Hi Elizabeth! When I started my channel, my only fear was that I might end up wearing myself out on puzzles, and therefore taking the joy out of puzzling. It is difficult balancing my love of puzzling with the responsibilities of maintaining a jigsaw puzzle UA-cam channel. I know that this funk will pass, and I will be back at it. I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks for watching the channel and for taking the time to comment. :0)
I think the Persnickety Puzzler is now a diamond painter.
Hi Rebeka! My lips are sealed until my next video where I reveal my new hobby! :0)
@@rebekahnerad4900 I agree...
Yup, that's what I thought so too. Pull out a fun one that YOU would like to build with excitement. If you are not interested once started, then don't stress yourself. I was one that didn't puzzle for a while until I saw I needed it due to my current lifestyle. Why don't you start downsizing your roomful of puzzles? It might help destress you...just a thought... The only thing is that your channel may decrease subscribers. That would be sad.
Hi BettyC! I am planning on weeding out a bunch of puzzles from my collection. I know doing that will make me feel less overwhelmed. Thanks a bunch for watching and for always commenting. :0)
