My Custom Home Robot: UR3 ROS Robot
Hey everyone! Thought I should post a little video on my ROS robot. It is getting close to fully navigating autonomously! Unfortunately, I am fairly busy with welding classes but I am using every chance I get to work on this. I am also trying out Etsy, so if you want to support me, that would be awesome!

Sip Phone Smart Lights Switch

This was a "smart light switch" I made with an old Cisco Sip phone and a Raspberry Pi. The Pi runs a server called Asterisk which runs the phone. When I dial certain numbers, it controls my lights! Here us a short instructable talking about this: www.instructables.com/Asterisk-Sip-Phone-Smart-Light-Switch/

Beautiful
This is similar to how DJI implemented their automated manual focus on the 4D, the focus knob is a brushless motor that can rubber band and spring back like this, as well as providing resistance while focusing. It's such a unique input method, fantastic work!
Enters wrong answer: Knob spins up to 8000 RPM
that is so cool. this is the proper usage for youtube shorts.
I can hear budgies talking XD
Im trying to build something similar but I can’t seem to find a motor controller for the BLDC. Which one are you using?
That is super freaking cool
Good job! 👏 thats some nice craftsmanship.
Very nice project! 🎉
amaizing!
the fact that i got recommended this video right after watching the smart knob video truely shows how much youtube is targeting you
Would’ve been nice if you showed how to disconnect the throttle cables instead of literally just saying “figure it out” lmao what a 💩 video
All these years later and this guy still has the best video out there on the subject. Great info!
This is amazing and i can see this being useful in many projects, but how would it be implemented? Is there an sdk or source code that can allow it to be interfaced with Windows, AutoHotKey, Arduino boards etc etc? Forgive my noobish question. I'm still learning coding and o don't have the terminology down yet. I just see this as being useful in a home theater PC or arcade PC, the sole reason o got into scripting and some c++
😢 Does the oil injector move with the throttle. What makes the injector move. I just installed carb & cables. The throttle operates great however the injector is not spring loaded & doesn’t move with the throttle cable. Does it move only when the engine is running? Thanks.
Thank you, this video helped me a lot.
What motor do u use and is it still made?
Thank you so much!
Sick
Great work!
Great demonstration. Thanks for the effort sharing this on youtube. I have one question: Do you use an encoder?
of course -
That knob will last a really long time. That would be great for industrial use!
Is it a brushless motor? Where can I buy it? How do you reproduce the haptic noise?
Hey, I forget what motor it is, but it was one of the motors that simplefoc recommended with their motor driver. I think I bought it on ebay, it was kinda hard to find, but you could probably use a similar motor.
@@everythingelectronic3014 thanks! And about haptic sound, it is from motor movement or from a speaker?
@@barbaro9154 All the sound is from the motor movement. It is really cool to feal the "notches" and hear it too.
Interesting asf dude, keep it up!
the poles in your motor dont seem to be skewed and magnets appear to be discreet. is the knob experiencing any major cogging issues? coz iirc the op said unless we use like zero cogging motor it would affect the smooth feeling
I am literally doing the exact same project as you and I also literally just uploaded the same example sketch on the LCD screen I have tft_eSPI wooo Looking good buddy man!
very nice
WHAT MOTOR DRIVER ARE YOU USING IN THIS PROJECT? IS IT THE SAME TMC6300 IN SMARTKNOB VIEW?
Hey, I am using the simplefoc mini driver.
This kinda stuff makes me stoked for the future of tech
Upvote for "Chik chik chik chik" 👍🏽
the bottom part of the plug is bent and i tryed unbent it and put it back in but it doesint work what do i do
It works
I still have this idea on my to-do list. Using a BLDC motor with the concept of a spacemouse.
Is there a link to the code and hardware BOM?
awesome! do you have datasheets for this gimbal motor? looking for stator mount holes footprint, voltage, resistance, rated current? can you share data please?
Gonna give your mum the haptic knob
I can't believe those words came out of the mouth of a kid. I'm genuinely surprised. Best of luck buddy
Beautiful project, but a textbook example of how to over engineer sth totally over the top. 😂
So so so cool 😎
Man I am still struggling with ROS so congrats!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome 🎉🎉🎉
Great vid kid,
hey bro. im wondering how you put magnet on bottom side of the motor and what IC using for magnetic sensor. can you help me for that 🙏
This is very cool bro. I think the dials in Bentley cars do a similar thing where they're free spinning with haptics until the software does something to physically keep it from spinning anymore when you hit the end of a list or whatever. idk if you're into cars but Doud Demuro has a video on the Bentley Continental where he points this out.
Impressed by you kid, I hope you grow up keeping your sharp brain and curiosity and white heart.
Thats pretty dope, especcially with the round Display
love it
Any chance you're using an esp32 for that? I'm trying to do some display stuff on a similar screen using espidf
This dope
Damn, I want that in a car now
