    Over the years, it has become increasingly clear that the criticism of the CR-Z was superficial and simply unfair. What is particularly interesting is that most critics never even test-drove the CR-Z but merely read off the data sheet to see what it technically offers. But that doesn't describe the driving experience. In fact, a more powerful engine would have been even better for the car, and that's the only drawback I see as justified. However, as it is, it's perfectly fine as long as you're not focused on power alone. Regardless of its performance, the CR-Z stands for driving pleasure and timeless design, and it fulfills both. It’s a model that doesn’t appeal to the masses but is rather niche, which only makes it more special, as are the drivers of this car, who do not follow the crowd and have realized that the crowd can sometimes be wrong. Additionally, the driving modes offer an interesting experience and make the CR-Z feel like three cars in one, as these modes make a significant difference in handling.

      dad took me on rides on his 2006 cbr1000rr when i was like 5 years old to 10. just bought my first "street legal" bike a 2007 cbr600rr (ridden a 2016 crf 150 mostly and a 2020 crf250l for speed on highway and street and construction sites) love it so far other than the excessive engine braking i like to slow down via revmatch downshifting and front brake. have my permit test in 5 days ridden it around a bit and just need to tune in some gas when letting go of throttle for more comfy town riding. other than the excessive engine braking, small bike 6 foot 5, and dookie clutch im replacing this week its amazing. cant wait to hit over 100 mph. taking it slow but my ability to ride up to 80 mph id say is pretty uch high level intermediate. been practicing trail riding slow speed maneuvers etc since i was 10 years old on little 85s 125s etc. that 600 inline 4 zoom is NUTTY. since hes ridden my bike hes about to buy a 2025 cbr 1000rrr sp. cant wait to ride that eventually

    Yes, they are generally too much for a beginner rider. I can’t tell you how many riders I’ve met that are scared of leaning their bike over because they started on a bike with 120hp that’ll do 160mph. They never learned how to properly control their bike and that makes them a danger to others on the road. I started on a ninja 300 in 2013. In less than a year I was outpacing many people on much “faster” bikes, and when I rode a friends liter bike for the first time (it was the first bike other than my own I had been on) I came to grips with it quickly and within an hour was outpacing friends on 600s and 1000s, even on tight and twisty roads with little room to open it up because my 300 gave me the opportunity to learn and make mistakes with far fewer consequences of danger and death. I saw many people get in way over their heads on a bike that they weren’t ready for, and I’ve seen friends lose their lives to motorcycling. If you like sport bikes, there is no shortage of excellent sub 400cc bikes that will teach a new rider the basics and give them an opportunity to hone their skills.

      I appreciate the mature and well thought out response. A lot of people never experience low cc's (300 & 400). Without owning one I cant see the skills you can get from buying one, but im becoming more and more aware of it. I hope people can make a better decision seeing why certain people chose specific bikes.

    Bought an old GSF 600 Bandit as my first bike. It was in great condition with pretty low mileage, so a great deal. It sounds great, I love the classic look and rides like a modern bike without the modern things to potentially break. It's surprisingly smooth in low revs and also surprisingly quick above 8k rpm. It's just 75-80 hp so enough, but not too much power.

    You are in control… regardless of size…,but if u can’t control ur impulses get a small 250cc … otherwise a 600cc is a lot fun to ride, specially honda, they smooth as butter

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx 16 днів тому

      Honestly people who cant control there impulses, shouldn't have a bike in general. There has to be that off switch to be able to control yourself. In my case, I learned that very early on and it comes down to understanding what your risking either speeding/reckless riding. Everyone who owns a bike will from time to time, beat the crap out of it. Its just limiting it to open roads and proper decisions in my opinion.

    They are uncomfortable, a little taller seat heights, stiff suspension, top heavy and you can't turn the wheel very sharp making lowspeed maneuvers very difficult, they are hot between your legs, expensive insurance and tires and have frequent and more difficult maintenance. Valve clearance checks on sportbikes are a nightmare. They are NOT good beginner bikes and never will be. Don't listen to what this guys says. He called an inline 4 a "4 liter" and claimed low end torque is difficult to learn. Torquey bikes pretty much ride themselves. Very difficult to stall like a diesel truck. Don't let a beginner tell you anything

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx 17 днів тому

      I agree with a lot of what you said. Everyone can have there own opinion and as I stated in the video, this is my personal opinion. Some people can over look the pros and cons of different kinds of bikes because no bike is perfect for everything. People who don't like sportbikes aren't going to go out of there way to look at the positives of them and tell you all the good they can do. Your opinion is that there NOT good beginner bikes. That's fine. I never called this bike a "perfect" starter bike. You clearly knew I meant 4 cylinder not 4 liter and honestly bringing up a petty mistake like that is just straight stupid. I'm out here making videos on a topic while riding and making sure cars aren't pulling out in front of me. People mix up words man it's what happens. What I don't agree with is how your gonna say a bike with MORE low end torque is easier to learn but that's your opinion. Although I am a beginner, when I first started out i liked getting peoples opinions who have ridden for only a few years and then I always compared them to people who have been riding longer. Sometimes different riding ages have a good point. I don't know if you had a bad experience with sportbikes in the past, but I hope you aren't gonna take it out on people who simply want to express there opinion on there riding experience starting on a 600cc

    • @xander4218

      taller seat height? my zx7r has like a 31" seat height, my 5'8 friend can flat foot it. the stiff suspension is true, but it doesn't matter unless your roads suck. my bike is definitely heavy, but not top heavy. the steering part is true, and low speed is probably the only time riding a supersport is "hard". they might not be beginner bikes, but the newer ones basically ride themselves with lean assist, traction control, stability control, abs, etc. yes, it's a crutch, but ultimately it's not gonna kill you if you respect the machine. more money to maintain and insure, but who cares?

    my short opinion without even watching the video. NO its not a good first bike and i can clearly tell youre still not much of a good rider yet either by the way youre shifting. This is not a matter about whats faster on the track or on the street. A 600cc no matter the cylinders is too much for the average new rider. As an instructor ive seen too many people upgrade from 125cc to 600cc and loop it. 400cc is a scam but 300s are perfect as a beginner bike like lets say a duke 390. Youll learn much more on a 390 because that will teach you curves, maintenance, the same thing youve said about your bike. Many people buy a 600cc for two reasons, they look like litre bikes and sound cool. Theyll be overconfident and show of their new bike and whack into the back of a truck. Im typing this as the video plays and what youre saying abt new rider shouldnt even be at 8-9k or above rpm. And thats the problem, they buy an r6/cbr600/gsxr600 they all rev upwards of 11-15k and guess what. new riders wanna try that out. wipe out at that

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx 17 днів тому

      Everyone is entitled to there own opinion. I'm glad to have an actual bike instructors opinion. Again I will clarify everything in the video was relative to my case starting out. I PERSONALLY (can't seem to stress that enough I guess) believe an average person can start on a 600cc. I just had 3 different friends this year start on a 600cc and it's just as easy to baby it as it is to beat the piss out of it. I even said in the video, I believe people who start on a 300 or 400cc, become better riders. I even said in the video "You should start on a 400cc, but if you start out on a 600cc you will be just fine". You can loop a 300cc and you can loop a 600cc, doesn't matter. If you have someone immature and doesn't know how there bike handles, a lot of bad stuff can happen. When you "600cc sport bike riders" are just trying to "showoff" there bike, that's not true at all. A lot of people just like the way sportbikes feel and the aggressiveness to them. Everyone has there own preferences and it's not like sportbikes are perfect but some people just prefer them and that's just what it is. Also mentioning I'm not a "good rider". I'd like to understand by how by shifting you can tell whether I'm a good rider or not. I'm not gonna call myself the best rider in the world because I just started a little over a year ago, but I've never dumped my bike or been in any accidents. I respect your opinion and I'm glad you shared it. Thank you for watching the video and I hope you have a good one man🤟

      @@illusiversx some people are just more talented than others. I was teaching few guys that are good car drivers of course on manual transmission. All of them were good bicycles riders also and literally took them 20 minutes on parking lot to go out on the streets of course on 125cc. And i have a strong believe that if you can ride 125cc you can ride anything else of course there are levels to this but just flowing with the traffic is easy no matter how big the engine is.

    • @NakiriX1
      @NakiriX1 17 днів тому

      @@illusiversx ofcourse everything you said is true. my point on its own is basically just that lots of people get them to show off and cant handle them, partially to blame is the media of genuinely good iders so they think they can do that. a 600cc as a starter bike takes lots of restrain since like you said you can beat the piss out of it. Also to clarify my point about your shifting, i apologise for being vague about it. when you shift you immediately pull your fingers back to the handlebar even though youre just cruising about and are going to shift in the next 2-3s. it seemed a bit "jerky" if im allowed to say that. just seems a little off timing but nothing inherently wrong

      The whole situation I explained at the end of the video was a one off thing and didn't happen after this. Don't know why it happened but bike runs amazing now with new fuel pump and spark plugs

    Just got an 06' 600rr everything runs great except the front harness for the headlights an front turn signals is a rats nest an nothing is plugged in all the wires just ziptied an bundled up together, ive got the manual with the wiring schematics just haven't had the time to fix it yet. Only paid $1k w/36k miles on it. It still rips an engine runs like a top.

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx 19 днів тому

      Thats great man! Unfortunately a lot of people really destroy the wiring on these. I had to replace the whole front headlight harness with the turn signals and its only a $60 part from honda. Definitely worth it and recommend getting that!

    • @wolverinebear5357

      @@illusiversx guess i shoul have looked into that, $60 is alot cheaper than all the time I'd be spending on fixing that rats nest. Thanks, so its OEM straight from Honda? Front harness? I know the main harness you can only buy salvaged.

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx 18 днів тому

      Yes brand new harness from honda. I just checked and it's actually $80 not $60, my bad. Still worth it tho: www.ebay.com/itm/164939026845?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=uhRsTnSXS9y&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=z1GBZ0AyToa&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

    I love my CR-Z, all that you mention was rattling in my head before I bought mine new in 2015. Still love the thing, it's just so weird and unique. I love my rear seat cubbies btw. I also came from an RSX, they have a lot in common. A K20 in the CRZ would rule.

      The black honda ones are very easy to find there on a ton of stock honda wheels. Like I said got mine from the junkyard. The red honda center caps are off of dc5r stock wheels. Harder to find and go for a little more on ebay.

    For the comments wishing it was faster, I wished that was the case ad well. Interestingly enough, Honda was looking to put a more powerful engine in it at the time of production, but it couldn't pass safety standards. There wad a supercharger that Honda HPD released which could boost the car to around 200 HP but it was limited. Wish I could have gotten one for my 2015. Also the supercharger only worked on the ones with the manual transmission as well.

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx 23 дні тому

      I think the main complaint when it comes to power with these cars is just the fact that the supercharger kit costs so much as well. Sometimes we just gotta step back and appreciate the crz for what it is.

      Depends what your looking for. Everything I buy for almost every car is a mix between rock auto (for stuff like brakes), ebay (rare used parts), hondapartsonline (oem honda parts that are still sold)

    Hey buddy I like your video I'm trying to decide between the Honda CR-Z and an Acura like this one. I live in upstate New York so it snows a lot up here. But I'm really just using the car to get back and forth as a commuter because I have a Honda Ridgeline for my work truck and I just want a car to whip around in to save gas. Which is smoother out of the two? And does the CRZ have as much horsepower as the Acura?

    • @illusiversx
      @illusiversx 24 дні тому

      Appreciate u watching and hopefully I can sway you in the right direction! My personal opinion, the rsx is a better and more fun car while crz's are better commuters. Again my personal opinion. The rsx is faster and if you get a rsx type s it's almost twice the hp. I have tons of videos on the channel for both cars so definitely look into that if there's something in specific your looking for otherwise ask any questions u want man🤟
