TW200 Finding Clarity in the Mountains

Completing my dual sport ride in the mountains of North Idaho and finding some peace before heading home. I was kind of going through it during this ride, but the nature and solitude really helped a ton and I came home a happy and whole person. Thanks for watching everybody! Have a wonderful week Music by Karl Casey @WhiteBatAudio

Great video man!! I went and checked out one of the old mines in them thar mountains when I was a teen and I too seem to remember the most disturbing part being the obvious signs of human inhabitance in such dark, damp, despair. Probably lucky not to have run into anyone in there!
There was one by Osburn that I could see a bear skull in but I was too afraid to go on and get it.
@dirtcopdualsport that's pretty wild!! The one I went in was up behind Osburn.
Dude! Thanks for the shoutout! 😎👍🏻 That mine was unreal! Your braver than I 🤣 I’ve never seen anything like those spiders bunches before.
Hell yeah! I’ve gotta share your channel in a comment! The spiders were creepy but I got my daily allotment of protein while I was there
Awesome video man!!! Someone killed poor old Ned's Pecker...... a scary and sad tale all in one. You may need to go back with a lighter and hair spray and burn those spiders out!! LOL, that's crazy that many were in there!! No telling how deep that shaft goes down! Great video dude! Happy Halloween!!!!
Ha! Those spiders aren’t hurting anyone! Glad you liked it man!!!!
Big time heebie jeebies!! For the record Dead Pecker Ned lives. I just know it.
Ha! Haven’t been that scared since Fallujah! I hope Ned is push daisies for your sake, seeing as you ran off with his sandwich!
Ol' Dead-Pecker Ned's rug really tied the mine rooms together. I hope The Curse of Dead-Pecker isn't contagious! What leather gloves are you wearing? Awesome filming!
Those are just some standard wells Lamont I picked up for $15 at north 40. The rug came home with me.
Still makes me cringe!
Oh hell no
Oh hell yes!!!!!!
Where the hell are you at, the forest from Harry Potter
Even better….the Pacific Northwest!!!!!!
Hmmmmm, interesting
That was my second guess, that or Australia
@@JakeTheBrainDamagedOne there’s no shortage of abandoned mines where I live but this is the first one filled with spiders!
I'm thinking a bobcat or a hawk did the bird murder. For hot rides I wear a cheap, motocross zipup mesh upper armor. Shoulder pad. Chest/back plate and elbow pads. I dunno. One arm riding makes my groin tingle. Especially without protection. Sweet vid, brah!
Thanks buddy! Hawk was my guess too! Glad he didn’t drop it on my head!
Dub on the Rocks!
Hell yea!!!!
Do you air down your tires? If so what do you run for tire pressure
@@sassoole no I never do, I know I should but I just don’t.
@@dirtcopdualsport I don’t either. Apparently it makes a huge difference but I’m paranoid of pinch flats.
@@sassoole have you seen the Bradley performance foam tubes? Im giving them some serious consideration when I upgrade the front tire.
Have you done suspension work to your tw
I have not. Why do you ask?
@@dirtcopdualsport oh I'm looking into getting a tw and I have been watching your videos of single track and the first thing I was going to do is respring it.
@@Idaho_Greg I've been considering upgrading it. I swapped out air springs for spring springs on a 99 Range Rover once so I think I could hand a tdubs swap. Thanks for watching my videos! I really appreciate it and I hope your getting some value from them. Just FYI I'm (until recently ) about 230 lbs. I bottom out on some big bumps but for the most part I feel liek the stock suspension is doing allright.
@@dirtcopdualsport you make great videos. I'm 250 before any riding gear and I will have a passenger every once and a while. I have been looking at the Bradley performance suspension for the rear shock.
@@Idaho_Greg Thanks for the compliment! I've only heard good things about the bradly products are you thinking the offroad or touring shock?
Surrender, ride with no expectations and just feel the energy of the nature you are riding through! Stop sit underneath a tree and feel it's energy
Exactly!!! I’ve returned to that road and made it all the way through a couple times this year since I made this video!
Man the views you get on some of those high mountain tracks are unreal. What a cool video! I’ve got a whole new appreciation for how you film. The one time I took my e-bike out I realized how hard it is to ride with one hand and a camera in the other 🤣
Ha! Riding and not filming doesn't feel 'right' at this point! but setting up the camera and going back and getting it can take a lot of time lol! I want to talk to you about your ebike one of these days!
@@dirtcopdualsport well you make it look easy! 😂 Sure thing. Anytime
Hell yes. These are good words, Dirt Cop! You got my sub.
Thanks man! I just subscribed to you guys too!!
Great content 👍🤘
Thanks man! I appreciate the comment!
😂 ass end over tea kettle
hahaah Thats what I mean!
This is my speed of riding too. I'm all about enjoying the scenery and environment instead of seeing how fast I can race through it.
Same!!!! I went on a beautiful ride yesterday and really got to take n the fall scenery and had a fantastic time!
What u did right was ride a tw
Hell yea buddy!
I've been on a full on binge session all morning while I do chores and clean up the house. Loving your content. I'm not even into riding at all but I love the scenery of this beautiful state we live in and listening to your life insights almost as a podcast while I go about my day has been phenomenal. Keep it up. You're getting me motivated to start making videos again.
Dude that is awesome! i appreciate the support. I keep wanting to start a youtube club in the valley but it's just a vague idea lol
@dirtcopdualsport I know a handful of folks who are on the UA-cam grind out here. I know there are times when I am lacking the drive and some support from people that know the struggle can make a world of difference.
@@PhranqTheDanq agreed! I’ve been dragging my feet quite a bit this season
Man I needed this one today. Been struggling with motivation. No inspiration. Just feeling like a no name character in the background. Gotta get back to doing the things I love! Been letting work thoughts invade my home life and free time far too much lately.
I'm super happy that you found some value in it! Sometimes I wonder if anyone is enjoying the motovational videos!
@@dirtcopdualsport they're my preferred kind! They help me get through the drudgery of work and chores lol.
@@PhranqTheDanq ha! Glad I can help then!
We have a hole in our wall I need to fix....from at least 12 years ago! After watching this I'm thinking about putting that hole on my to do list. Usually if it ends up on the list I get tired of looking at it.
This summer has been the summe of fixing little things around the house I've been ignoring for years!
Awesome info! Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I’m super happy it helped!
Fixed a loose towel rail while watching this. Now just need to prioritise replacing exhaust seals. And sounds like the PW needs a repacked silencer. Thanks for the reminder to eat the frog.
Ha! Glad this video was useful lol! Thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate that a lot!
Paralysis by analysis. It took me 6 months to put a new front tire on the Tdub. And it's been a year since I bought a new Nibbi carb! The bike barely runs, yet I can't put a new carb on. Easy job. Great tips. Clock. Purge distractions. One thing I never procrastinate is filming and editing videos. Weird. Eat the frog!!!
I don’t procrastinate filming but editing …… Hows your summer going?
Also, those little tires should have been made tubeless :)
I can't argue with that!!!
I think that's the first PW50 ever with a nail in the tire LOL. As I've gotten older, my procrastination has gotten worse. I think the increasing responsibilities at work and home often cause me to not want to do the other stuff I really need to do.
Mine has certainly gotten worse since 2020. I think that year messed with a lot of people's drive. I'm just happy to be doing something about it now! Thanks for watching and commenting too! I really appreciate the engagement!

Yes. Know thy limits. My buddy took the long way home after our ride the other day. Hit a rock and broke ribs. Too fast at night. Show more coffee making details. I like that.
Damn hope he recovers quick!!!! That was just drip coffee from home but next time I’m out just for you!
Watching these also helps prepare me for what to look out for when I get my own tw200.
They say to swap out the front tire right away but mine has not given me too many problems once I understood its limitations and weaknesses.
@@dirtcopdualsport good to know. The first thing I want to do is swap out the skid plate and get some hand guards.
@@shanebruce3834 I've got a Ricochet skid plate and I'm pretty sure its saved my engine more than a few times. Something you migt want to consider is to replace the shifter with a Tusk YZ250 shifter, my first couple of wreck were cause by me fumbling and trying to find the shifter. It's a cheap, easy, and effective upgrade.
Yellow Jackets are miniature demons sent by Satan to mess with our outdoor peace.
Ha! It’s been a wild summer for bees up here!
Fantastic area to ride I’m genuinely jealous. All central Illinois has is flat roads and no riding land. All private property. I could spend a week put wherever you’re at tootling around and camping.
I am incredibly lucky to have been born and raised where I am! Part of buying the tdubs was wanting to explore as much of my area as possible!
pig
I’m not vitally a cop. I’m an environmental scientist but Nina deep red state the call people who do what I do dirt cops as an insult. I embrace it though.
I never understood how people think they can hold a decent wheelie when they stop to start one get rolling and pop that clutch you will ride more then 1/4 foot wheelie
I’m always impressed by your dedication to get that great camera placement. Some of those trails don’t look easy to ride twice (once for the shot, another to retrieve the tripod). 👍🏻👍🏻 What incredible views man!
Thanks man!!!! There is a lot of running back and forth to get the shots, not gonna lie!
Well keep your head up man! Get away from those literal and figurative yellow jackets. Do what makes you happy and take care of your family!
Thanks man! That’s just what I intend todo!!!
Yet another great ride. You are never too old to roll a rock lol. If during your moments of peaceful solitude you happen to figure things out let me know.
@@CraftyClusterfarg all I know is that coffee (in moderation) and rolling rocks down hills bring me great joy
Looks like fun!
Hell yeah! It was!
Your comment about wishing you started doing this when you were younger hit home hard. I'm in a similar boat my friend! You're brave to start now! Keep going!
Thanks for the kind words! I have no plans to stop though some days the youtube journey itself feels very fruitless! I'm lucky I enjoy filmaking as much as I enjoy riding!
@@dirtcopdualsport At least you will be having fun either way, like you said. That in itself makes it worthwhile! Anyways, looking forward to more.
@@shanebruce3834 Thanks Buddy! I'm really happy you enjoy the content! I appreviate the kind words!
I find it too easy to talk myself out of going out in the heat. The cold air feels great!
It’s an ongoing for me on both fronts
@dirtcopdualsport I think we all go through cycles. By the time summer is over, I'm tired of being hot. By the time winter is over, I'm tired of being cold. Vicious cycle.
@@PhranqTheDanq Vicious indeed! I work in Alaska and winter is already creeping up on us!
@@dirtcopdualsport yeah buddy, but I'd never wanna go somewhere without a winter!
@@PhranqTheDanq Same!
The worst is getting geared up, helmet on, bike idling... then talking yourself out of riding. Done that a few times.
That’s only happened to me during rains storms! Still a bummer though.
Yes. Larch. I was just trying to remember that tree. That golden yellow should be happening soon, right?
Yessir! In the next month or so!
I've talked myself outta riding way too many times.
I just spent two weeks doing it! I feel like a damn idiot!
Really hoping for some sunny, cool, late fall weather
Same! Today is a good start though!!!!!
I always feel better once I get out there!
Me too!
No dewalt drill powered bikes!!!! Keep the internal combustion alive!! In all seriousness, each to his own, but I spent several hours on the best electric bike Zero offered. It was probably the fastest thing I've ever ridden. After a bit though, I missed that sweet exhaust tone, the clutch, the ability to select the gear I wanted etc. I kept thinking even through the unsurpassed acceleration, something was missing on it. It was soul. It had absolutely no soul. Just throttle and brake and a tiny whine like an electric drill. Not for me, that's for sure. I will say it would probably be cool to have as a spare to sneak back in the woods on. Good video man.
That’s the same idea I get from them! They are all the same but I would love one for hunting so I can creep in silently to my spots without scaring up any animals!
What a cool video man. Makes me want to get a bike and ride out with you! Also love the personal touches mixed in.
Man I wish you did too!!!! I feel awful the summers almost over and we haven’t got out together!
@@dirtcopdualsport no worries, we’ve still got time man 👍🏻
Great vid! Makes me want to go for some fall rides.
I’ll go with you!
Man, beautiful area, you are so lucky to live there. The TW is an awesome bike. Beginner friendly, but still fun for experienced riders, fun, reliable, easy to work on, and low seat height. You may have other bikes, but every garage needs a TW.
I couldn’t agree with you more on all of those points my friend!!!! Thank you so much for the comment!!!!
I use my TWs for everthing all the reasons naysayers don't get one. I've had a shit ton of fun at Moab and even singletrack within my comfort zone. Except dirt racetracks. No...not a racer. 😁 Off topic, I've been meaning to ask what a "dirt cop" is?
ha! My wife thinks I shoudl make a video explaining what a dirt cop is but it's a deragatory word for someone who works in envrionmental compliance.
She’s right!
