tell you what if you ever get a class where the professor is like "there are no due dates, just make sure you have everything turned in by the end of the semester" don't fall for that...... stick with the due dates and if you have to shift an assignment to the right do that, hahah but I got CRUSHED in one of my networking classes with labs, like I was going to admit defeat but I spoke with the professor and he tried to help me out and gave me an extra day to do them and I did as much as possible and passed the class..... hahah never again wtf.....

I found 1st year to be basically a re-hash of the HSC, to a large extent....I was a Maths major and maths, physics, chemistry etc were all a repeat of Years 11 & 12 stuff. 2nd year got harder and I gave it up as my life changed directions. I was a DE student thru UNE and they are great for older-aged students like myself. A study was done by a mob in Oz and they found that the students who do the most number of past exams are the ones who get the best results. That was the #1 determining factor.....not the only one yet was #1. Just cos one studies doesn't mean we study the right things. I found that out in my Psychology 2 exam and failed miserably until I heard the qns were taken from an online quiz which I didn't go thru....like, duh!

I failed 1st year too. Im also studying a Bsc. One tip that may help... For theory and understanding a concept; Find its origin Think about what depends on it and research anything (at least one thing) thats connected to it Construct a digital flashcard for it Keep an excel list with question location and correct/wrong collumns and test yourself frequently on the concept Finally think about the concept when youre not expected to (such as when watching an ad and your mind wanders to something pointless) Even if you think you now understand the concept or one of its subcategories.. ask/confirm with your lecturer!

@@charity3803 Hey, I know it might feel tough at first, but trust me, this pain is a signal that you're capable of so much more. Surround yourself with those who love and support you. The past is behind you; focus on the future. Don't let this bump in your path slow you down. If you stumble, get back up and try again. Learn from your mistakes - I've been there too, crying every night, thinking I was a failure. However, having people by my side reassured and comforted me. They demonstrated that there's still hope and encouraged me not to give up. You're doing amazing. Keep going! :)

Currently failing 4/5 classes (failing all the online classes, doing good in my in person class) I don’t play video games, I don’t party, I don’t go to clubs. I have pretty bad mental health issues that are mostly managed by medication, but overall the thing I lack is work ethic UNLESS I’m absolutely obsessed with something, and even then I still procrastinate. I dropped out of college last year because of the same issues but went back thinking I was prepared. I was not. I’m at the point where I MIGHT be able to catch up and pass, but most likely I’m going to fail. I’m very scared about my future, I don’t want to get kicked out of college or not get my financial aid that I need to stay in. I can only stay at my parents home rent free while in college, my relationship’s future kind of depends on this, and I struggle to hold a job because of my problems. I could go into this a lot more, but I just want to say that I am very scared.

Great video overall! You did give one piece of advice that differs to what we learn in music school. You typically don’t just play a piece of music over and over with the intent of making less mistakes each time. You always focus on trouble areas, slowed down, and repeated tediously. It may only be 3 notes. It may be a measure or two. It may be an entire phrase. Take that trouble area and focus on it several times super slowly. Take 30 second breaks every few reps and visualize the correct fingerings/embouchures/stickings/vowels. Then hit another series of repetitions. After it’s clean, you connect it to what ever comes before (a few notes or 1 bar), repeating several times slowly. Then you do the same thing with whatever comes after. Then connect the entire phrase playing it slowly, slowly speeding up the tempo. Recording yourself throughout that proceeds keeps you honest. Take breaks. This is also important. 5 minutes of rest per 25 minutes of grind or 10 minutes of rest after 50 minutes of grind. All practices have diminishing returns the longer you go without resting your body and mind. Sometimes, pushing is a good thing to test your mental fortitude. However, that should not be the norm. Focus on the grind, giving 200% effort, but value allotted rest time. I feel like this applies to many skills. Often even the subskills need to be broken way down. Trying to do too much at once is a recipe to be doing the same thing over and over again, wondering why you can’t get it right. Be meticulous. Accepting that your small goals probably need to be smaller is humbling, but you will improve and grow much more quickly. Accepting that you are pushing too hard is also humbling, however this usually applies to less people.

I'm not a first year (third year student of physiotherapy) but I failed 3 out of my 4 subjects this semester. This means I can't do 2/4 subjects next sem (those subjects are prerequisites), resulting in me having to repeat third year again. I failed because: a) 3rd year is a MASSIVE step up from 2nd year, b) I wasn't prepared with the different requirements of the course (the last two years were more theory and less clinical, marking standards are harsher), c) I'd never developed consistent study habits as a result of taking advantage of my ability to pierce connections together quickly and d) I was not able to stay calm under pressure, nor manage my time well during my clinical exams. I took advantage in high school of the vast amount of resources at my arsenal (good quality teachers, principal recommendation, extra tuition and my parent's guidance). When I did a challenging course that eliminated all that privilege, it was a level playing ground and well...I failed. I know that 3rd year of physiotherapy is hard and many people fail it - but 3 subjects? That was a tough pill to swallow. I think it's better I know the taste of failure now then later when I am growing and when I have the capacity to bounce back. If I was a business owner at 32 and failed then, there would be more of a fall then my current 20 year old self. I think everything happens for a reason and I think this is the universe telling that I can't progress until I develop the basic building blocks to succeed (discipline and consistency). My mum had always told me I have a lot of strengths and if I work on those two, I would be unbeatable and considering where my parent's are now, I'm inclined to believe her. Thanks for this video. I'm sure it was a challenge to expose your vulnerabilities for all (including those aunties and uncles - I'm Asian I know haha) to see, but I think you're mature for not trying to hide and smooth over it. This year has been a disaster and I'm sure next year will be better. For how would we be able to know good if we didn't know bad?

You aren't alone, nor a failure. I like to say everyone is on their own journey and it's better to taste failure now because later on when we're higher, there's more to fall down to and it's not pleasant (worse then you're feeling). I know I could have studied harder, but I studied 7x harder then I did last year and that's an achievement by itself. Even if it feel's like a snail crawl, as long as you're learning and growing that's important.

To just vent a little bit, I am currently enrolled in my first year at my university and I have failed two semesters. I went to class at the beginning of each semester and I studied super hard. However, I got my first exam back in pretty much all my classes and it was disappointing to see such a low grade. I had worked really hard and that is the grade I got? So at that point, I stopped going to class and I didn't study because I came to the conclusion that even if I do study I'll fail anyway. I pretty much spiraled after that and I got into this depression stage where I didn't really want to do anything. I'm currently on academic probation and I'm scared about what the next semester will bring, or if I even get to go back. I can't afford to see the look on my parents' faces If I have to tell them I failed out of college. Anyway, thanks for listening.

@@Kindred-dz5ss Me too. My first three semesters were complete garbage. I failed 2/4, 1/5 and 4/5 classes in each semesters respectively. I got put on academic probation and ultimately got kicked out of my program. I'm now doing a minor in hope to get my gpa up and go back to my original path. But as much as I know that it's possible and that I can change and become a good student, I have a hard time believing in, and trusting myself. Being consistant is so hard. I'm not used to it, everything was so easy and all of a sudden I have to... work? Study? I just finished a summer class and I already know that I'm going to fail it. Again. My 8th class! Really, I should just drop out. But to do what? I can't do that. I am truly distraught. Sorry for the rant :)

@@aurelie5445Hey, everything alright? A month late but I'm currently struggling as well. It's only been a month for me and my first term is about to end but I'm in a spot where I'm about to fail 2 subjects. I wonder why's it so hard to start putting effort. 🤒 But I hope you're doing well!

Hey @@theyfwastro. So far, so good. I think what was wrong is that I didn't see any reasons or purpose to work, so I simply didn't do it. But after realizing that without school I didn't have nothing going for myself, I got a sense of urgency to do well. Kinda cheesy, I know, but after thinking about it, it resonated with me. This video sums it up: ua-cam.com/video/eF5jT0Jd_l4/v-deo.htmlsi=IQAeeG5Z0GyTLfkK . It's definitely not going perfectly and I have my lazy moments, but I'm more consistant than a month ago. Also, many of my classes require to work in pairs, so that keeps me accountable. Anyway, I hope that helps. I believe in you 🫡

he has free time?? lets see 18 times 7 days equals 126 hours so only 6 hours free time. i think he just says bullshit to discourage the competition. lolol where is the proof. maybe he did only a couple of weeks 10 and has proof of only a few weeks to show but not every week for years and years

    • @Manfromghosttrain

18 times seven = 126 hours The average of 80-100 = 90 hours Now he's left with 36 hours. 1) 10-15 min shower 15*7 = 105 minutes, roughly 2 hours 2) same with brush + toilet but twice the time = 4 hours 3) Food - 1 hours a day = 7 hours a week. Therefore 36-13 = 23 hours left with him. He could use it anyway possible. Of course free time in general language is exaggerated here. [Note : Elon Musk doesn't need to prepare his clothes, food, car, etc. unlike common folks]
